Squad has such fun gameplay and feels so good to play, it sucks that its only multiplayer. Squad on like an Altus sized map with map editor and a zues would be so freakin awesome.
I emulate GBA games on my beast of a gaming PC if I’m home because that’s the most comfy setup
If I leave, I used to use my hacked PSP and manually synch the files, then it was my hacked Vita and a program that synched them automatically, and now I use retroafch and my steam deck so my files are synched automatically without even having to think about it
Everyone I know who’s just playing emulators is doing so on their phones these days anyway
Steam Deck absolutely changed my habits. I played more Elden Ring on it than I have my high end gaming PC. It’s just more convenient to turn on a play. Where lately, my gaming PC distracts me with emails, YouTube, random kinks like it can’t see my controller.
I don’t think Ill ever buy a gaming PC anymore and might fully switch to buying Steam Decks every few years.
I don’t think it’s a texture bug, I think they just took the same model they use for the enemy unit, put them in poses, and then stuck a burn shader on there.
That was a fun review, I like the style you went for with it!
I played this back in the day on the 360, which didn’t seem to have the bugs you encountered. I recall having a pretty good time with it, and it was short enough not to overstay its welcome. The jumping mechanics and training for it were unique at the time, and I thought it was a nice twist on the WWII formula.
The lacking narrative (or at least, I don’t remember one, or any characters) hurt it, as it felt sort of like I was playing a multiplayer game alone at times.
I also thought it was neat how the sniper rifles were more accurate/less wobbly if you slowly squuezed the analog trigger, I’m not sure I’ve seen that elsewhere.
But yeah, good review, I’d honestly enjoy reading more from you.
And I can’t see myself to finish it at least once 🙃
I am not saying it is a bad game by any means, I just struggle to finish games in a nutshell lol (also not fun when I leave an RPG game for a long period of time, get back to it rusty and clueless of where I left).
The core problem with 7DTD is a lack of direction. The devs have spent the last however many years rebuilding the core aspects of the same over and over and over again instead of just deciding that they like what they have and refining that. I’m convinced this is what they’ll continue to do even after the “1.0” release they just did.
The only thing they’re sure of is that the players are playing the game wrong, and they will mercilessly nerf any particularly powerful strategy, trick, etc. that doesn’t fit wit their confused definition of what the game is. Really, the best thing I can say to someone interested in the game is, look at the end-game horde base builds. They follow bizarre logic that only follows around the nonsensical whims of the developers. It feels less like you’re surviving a brutal post-apocalypse and more like you’re playing a tower defense puzzle game. Something like Sanctum if it was a zombie survival game, ran like trash, and didn’t know what it wanted to be.
Being able to look out the porthole, sometimes seeing a kraken. Crew in the mess start getting possessed, eyes turn red, etc. BGM turns from jovial shanties to mixed with eldritch whispering.
But the physics in both version were identical. That model does not have breast bones in the original or in the remake. Neither does the model use vertex animation, the improvement is only that the breasts would be less pointy, but I am pretty sure they’re also covered in more leaves than the original.
This was a few minutes after I crippled all my limbs fighting the death claws in the quarry with a Grenade Launcher while doing the Great Khan quest line
Deathclaw in quarry that’s the definition of horror, but it rewarding in the end bc you know there’s FatMan launcher somewhere in quarry lake plus you can craft deathclaw gauntlet from looting corpse
Honestly I’d rather fighting bunch of raiders in Freeside or Primm or even fighting monsters from DEAD MONEY DLC rather than fighting a deathclaw in quarry, bc deathclaw can smell your fear from far away ╏ ” ⊚ ͟ʖ ⊚ ” ╏
I’m sorry. There’s a WHAT in the quarry? I just went in after the Khan that was there and left…
Otherwise though, The alpha and mother deathclaw there are fucking terrifying. I would be sneaking around with Stealth Boys and they’d lock on and sprint at me full speed. I swear they’re faster then the normal ones
God. Now I feel like that trip was a waste after not grabbing that. I’ll have to head back and hope they didn’t all respawn. Because I spent so long taking them out with all those Grenades that Good Springs probably thinks the Boomers relocated over there
