I hardly ever play on my mobile, the market of games I enjoy is saturated with ‘free games’ that you can buy to get rid of the ads. Which however are completely designed around the ads. ‘Watch this ad for 30 more gold’ , or shit like that. In other words completely and utterly pay to win, because instead of ads you can just pay for the gold with ingame currency that is ridiculously overpriced in relation to what the ad money would have been. And in order to compensate: more ads.
Guess what, I lost joy. We live in a capitalist hellscape. Nowhere is that more clear than in Google play store.
They stopped being fun 10-15 years ago. Back then people started figuring out the new touch input for games which lead to many simple, but creative games.
Nowadays, it feels like there exists nothing noteworthy in this space. Most are just boring clones of clones of clones riddled with ads and other garbage. I was unable to find even one game worth installing on my phone the past few years.
I don’t know what I am looking for at this point. I love casual games and play a lot on PC or my Steam Deck and it is so much easier to find something there which isn’t just a cheap money grab.
A private tracker is a torrenting site, like TPB, but is invite-only or has some other barrier to get in. They’re usually safer and faster, bur you have to seed. Also YMMV, obscure things might either not be on there, or have few/no seeds.
The only game where I’ve ever actually seen psychological warfare tactics work is L4D’s vs Mode. As a zombie, waiting to spawn, talking shit to the survivors to make them stop moving and type responses to slow them down. 😈
A good distraction can turn the tide of a battle. Completely psychological warfare. Also possible lasting effects during the match. Get a player riled up, there’s a chance they’ll remain distracted and play worse on the overall, while being open to more distractions.
I think a lot of people have been on the receiving end of that. Even just getting outplayed can have a negative effect on your morale, and that can really get you off your game if you let it get to you. Add in a little trash talk from the enemy team, you got a recipe for trouble.
If they had stronger psyches, they would ignore me and just run to the safe room. 😌 They stopped to demand a 1v1 while a hunter pounced them and ripped their guts out.
In my mobile I use only games from F-Droid (puzzles, boardgames) for in between. My wife use Eternium, a free single player RPG old school (Optional cosmetic buys in the game menu, no Pay2Win), very nice on Mobile (Gesture driven) and PC (Mouse, keyboard), infinite gameplay. In the stores and in Steam
I wish there were more premium games didn’t have egregious ads or micro transactions and respected your time. I pretty much dismiss all free to play games on mobile.
Play Pass is a god send for playing mobile games if you care enough to do so. Not only do you just get a whole bunch of premium games, it also removes ads and microtransactions in a good chunk of free to play games as well (but that usually puts the game balance out of whack - but that also accentuates how shitty some of those games are, being designed fully around them)
My way:
Renting a seedbox outside of Germany (NL) for about 16€ per month for a 2TB box.
Is it a very great value? No, not really.
But the staff is very reponsive to issues. Tickets are being reponded to usually within 24h and resolved within 1 week. (Much better than my helpdesk performance lol)
I got grandfathered in from an unmetered service. I can seed as much as I want at ~1Gbit/s even though I may not hit it due to being a shared box. So also very good.
And I can use public trackers there.
Stuff is getting transferred with resilio to my home, automatically imported and appears within 30min after download is complete in my media library.
The other option to a seedbox is a VPN and doing it from home. Only let a program connect via the tunnel.
Personally I am not fond of option #2 as I’d need to maintain it myself, my home internet is slow compared to a seedbox and I’d need to torrent from my own ISP connection. Yeah no. #1 is managed and I just pay the amount of 2 good quality services and have everything I can aquire.
