rikudou, do games w Nyrna - a Linux/Windows tool to suspend/resume games and applications

I’d love that integrated into Steam Deck.

LiveLM,

Not the same as native integration, but there is a decky plugin that does this:
github.com/popsUlfr/SDH-PauseGames

I had this game originally on some CD with a bunch of Apogee games. This was before I had developed the concept of money, so I didn’t know how to get more levels that were teased at the end of the shareware, but it was nevertheless my favorite game at the time.

yamanii, do games w Daggerfall Unity 1.0.0 Released
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I was playing it before 1.0, it surprised me how fun Daggerfall can be after the initial dungeon since it’s so damn hard do die there, also tried to do character creation cheesing I read in the wiki but it didn’t work since they did fix the bugs lol.

I only stopped playing because since it wasn’t finished my main quest didn’t advance after 30 days in the route I was in. I recommend the DREAM mod to get some high quality textures.

It might not count since it’s about salvaging vehicles instead of constructing them, but Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a pretty cool game.

Is it technically possible to have the emulator work without the use of the prod.keys ?

SugarSnack,

My understanding is the prod keys are required to tell the software (e.g. games) that it is running on an authorised device and passes certain checks / DRM.

To run the software without prod keys would require (I think) patching each game individually to skip those checks. So it could be possible but wildly impractical unless some other work around is found.

TheEighthDoctor,

But it could be something that the user has to provide, like the BIOS in PS emulators for exemple

SugarSnack,

Yeah for sure, I think the user had to provide keys in the latest Yuzu anyway?

It was donation builds with support for tears of the kingdom before released that screwed the project. The code itself was legal afaik.

They’re absolutely powering through the major version releases, good to see active development on an (only slightly hyperbolic) actually revolutionary project!

Holy shit… finally today we can play PC games directly on Android
Although we can’t play heavy AAA games yet but surely someday we can

Untitled4774, do games w Winlator v5.0 Released

No shit! Wasn’t aware of this project.

I have a little android emulator handheld, I’m going to mess around with this to see what I can get to run.

senseamidmadness, do gaming w OpenEmu 2.4.1 has been released

RetroArch never had a Mac build huh? Very odd since it’s got Switch and Linux builds

sub_,

No, there’s a mac version of retroarch. OpenEmu is a bit better in term of user interface.

And RetroArch has a history of harassing emulator devs, e.g. Stenzek who made Duckstation, were harassed by them until Stenzek went hiatus. IIRC, they might have harassed Near (developer of Snes9x), Near eventually killed themself.

I try to minimize the use of RetroArch

senseamidmadness,

Oh jeez, did some brief research and that is awful. The person in charge of Retroarch seems to be a greedy asshole, doesn’t properly credit other people’s code, and there’s direct IRC-logged evidence of abusive behavior towards emulator devs. Yikes. No wonder there are competing projects.

Time for me to never touch it again. I hear LaunchBox is a fine alternative but on my Switch I might just grab ARM builds of individual emulators; it would save time over the whole RA interface anyways.

Moneo, do games w Nyrna - a Linux/Windows tool to suspend/resume games and applications

Thank you for edit OP. I was wondering if this would be a good solution to trying to play 3 mins of Dark Souls while waiting for my rocket league teammates to join up. If I run two games at once my PC usually freaks the fuck out.

(still a cool app, thanks for the link)

Also I just noticed this is a crosspost, oops.

wim, do games w Nyrna - a Linux/Windows tool to suspend/resume games and applications

I made a similar thing a couple of years ago, but there is no UI or configurability: github.com/wvdschel/pause_process

clanginator,

Nice! If I wasn’t using the custom hotkey I’d jump to this for sake of keeping things lightweight. Thanks for sharing.

wim,

It has a global hotkey, but it’s hardcoded to the pause button (Fn+P on most keyboards that lack a pause button).

clanginator,

Yeah, I just use pause for music, and I have a macropad with f13-18 so I just set one to trigger suspend.

wim,

Makes sense.
