I played maybe ~5 hours of shenmue 3 and thought the core gameplay loop actually seemed pretty fun
The problem arises from all the bullshit they strung along it
Like how you have a set amount of energy you can use each day (which I like) combined with how you can spend that energy to run. This results in you being heavily incentivised to walk around at a snail’s pace for most of the early game at the very least
The game had so many design choices like this that were just baffling
I never came around to Monark. Was it any good? I can’t quite remember what detered me back then. This does seem like it’s build on it.
Edit: Got corrected in another thread, these games may seem similar to me, but have different devs. It’s just the same publisher. These devs made Crymachina.
I’m glad it failed. The community was nice but the devs were pretty hostile towards linux. Also it was way too demanding on the specs for really bad graphics.
I’m excited for this game but hate the attitude Level-5 has with the Switch version despite it starting on Nintendo platforms. Price went up to fund the multiplat release and no physical release.
I think I’m going to play through the first one on 3DS again and wait for a price drop, but I’m looking forward to seeing how people like it!
Is there any way to read Game Internet online now (archive or whatever)?
I’d really love to check out the Vampire Survivors interview from the final issue.
