I am playing the trails series for the first time, and I’m doing it by order of release. I’m at the finale chapter of Trails to Azure and I’m super excited to finally reach the cold steel saga, but should I play Nayuta first? (I kind of think I should, but I don’t know if it’s related to everything else.)
I haven't played Nayuta yet (got the GOG release a few days ago though) but I've played all of Cold Steel I~IV and did not notice anything in them that would suggest that Nayuta even existed -- unlike Zero/Azure where not having played those (due to no official English release at the time) led to some "who the heck is this and WTF is going on here?!" moments as well as some "I would probably appreciate this more if I'd been able to play those games..." sections.
If you want to carry on into Cold Steel after Azure you'll be fine.
Kinda disappointing since the NES games were included in the Kunio collection, and there are still no arcade versions included. I’d basically only be getting this for Super DD and DD Advance (DDIV is that shitty recent game that was only $4 if I recall). Would have been nice if they included other versions too like the Master System and others.
I'm really looking forward to this game. In anticipation for this I've been playing Suikoden 5 which came out a whopping 17 years ago. I don't mind waiting a few months longer.
I played maybe ~5 hours of shenmue 3 and thought the core gameplay loop actually seemed pretty fun
The problem arises from all the bullshit they strung along it
Like how you have a set amount of energy you can use each day (which I like) combined with how you can spend that energy to run. This results in you being heavily incentivised to walk around at a snail’s pace for most of the early game at the very least
The game had so many design choices like this that were just baffling
