tabris, do games w You teleport into the last game world you played. What happens next?

I continue to press the buttons I’m told to, over and over again. Not much has changed.

lath, do games w You teleport into the last game world you played. What happens next?

In the world as myself or as my character?

If as myself, i’ll try to stay away from the US portion of Earth. They get attacked a lot. If as my character, I guess i’ll just have to make a Captain’s Log noting this strange phenomenon before giving the order to warp towards my next mission for Starfleet.

Life in Star Trek is easier than most, if you’re in the right place.

  • lath,

As myself, not at first unless impossible to avoid. Eventually though, probably yes. As my character, definitely.

I’d also regularly make a clone and store it somewhere safe as backup, because there are a thousand ways to die in space and i doubt to be special enough and avoid them all.

  • lath,

Technically, we already are. I don’t know the conversion rate, but most of the body is being replaced by new cells constantly. So using the transporter would mostly be just changing to a new set of cells. But i’m rather attached to my own, homegrown cells. Feels cozier.

I don’t think anything changes as I’ve played Dirt Rally 2.0. Maybe I’ll just die in a car crash.

Good thing it’s not the game I played second last… noita.

Skua, do games w You teleport into the last game world you played. What happens next?

It's (an) Earth, mid 18th century. Mega-Ghana is the world's leading great power, having crusaded both Christianity and Islam more or less out of existence centuries ago. The place that I actually live in real life was just conquered by England, although this problem is somewhat mitigated by the fact that the (Visigothic) king of Spain invaded England and renamed it to "Nouveau France" several centuries ago. Such is the nature of a multiplayer Paradox megacampaign

I design a one-way mission to the moon. It’s a complex, 3-stage rocket designed to take 1 passenger as the payload. Our brave passenger is a Korok.

    Damaskox,

Then, after the mission is done, you’ll keep a memorial for this brave Korok? Or do they live there in a new home?

NocturnalMorning, do games w Just beat Lies of P and I love it!

I don’t understand the obsession with super difficult games. I can get plenty good at them. But I don’t enjoy getting angry at videogames when I die 14 times fighting a boss.

I’d love to play Lies of P, but no difficulty level means I’m not playing it. I tried Elden Ring as well, and Bloodborne. These kind of games just aren’t for me.

    FooBarrington,

The trick is learning not to be angry. It usually takes a while to beat a boss, but from then on it’s suddenly easy (especially on replays), and that feels really, really good.

    NocturnalMorning,

I wish I was like that. It might be an adhd thing. I’d love to play some of these games. It’s just not worth my sanity.

    FooBarrington,

Definitely not! I used to get pretty angry too, though weirdly Rocket League fixed that for me. It turned my anger at the loss into anger at the pressure of performing in a multiplayer game, which isn’t a factor in Elden Ring.

    Dyskolos,

Me too. Would love to play all those, but my tries were just frustrating. And it’s not just difficult enemies. But that artificially inflated difficulty like all enemies reset when i fail.

There’s motivation to beat a tough enemy, and then there’s motivation to beat 30 enemies again for 30mins just because i made a tiny mistake.

Maybe it’s a generational thing. I grew up with very difficult games, i just grew out of it. Newer generations only had these honey-drenched easypeasygames the industry came up with. There really is a hard challenge to beat anymore. Then came fromsoft and reminded me of how nasty games were 😂

    Xylinna,
    @Xylinna@lemmy.world avatar

I felt the same way when Dark Souls (and subsequent sequels) came out. Sekiro was the first game I had ever refunded on Steam when I rage quit it after couldn’t get through the tutorial level. I’ve since tried it again and made it to Genichiro but couldn’t beat him as it doesn’t let you grind to level up. It’s truly a game where you have to “git gud” and I’m simply not that good at parrying.

Honestly the only reason I gave Bloodborne a try was because I saw someone else play who was a much worse gamer than I was, it was included on PS+, and I thought the world seemed really interesting. I absolutely do not think this genre is for everyone but when you can beat a boss, the rush is intense and addictive.

    LievitoPadre,

Make sure to have enough time because you won’t see the sun for a while

    herrvogel,

It’s one of those games that do a magic trick and make time go poof. Very deep, tons of things to do, and extremely moddable with a rich ecosystem. Something you can easily sink hundreds of hours into without even realizing it.

    Excellent game overall.

Bratwurstboy, do gaming w Cyberpunk dlc sucks. 10 side missions and like 5 story missions for 30 bucks.

    Who asked?

    sederx,

Nobody? In just telling people to save their cash.

    What’s wrong with you?

    madkarlsson,

We get it, you are disappointed. But if you are concerned about saving cash you should’ve probably waited to buy it yourself this close to release.

But it doesn’t objectively suck, it builds on the world, and does so decently. If you liked it before you are probably going to like this DLC.

    sederx,

    1 didnt buy it

2 i like the base game, this dlc is a joke for this kind of money. this is a 9.99 dlc at best

    Bratwurstboy,

What’s wrong with you ? Go enjoy that steam free system of yours. I hope you get over the emotional pain caused by a failed cloud sync.

    sederx,

    Bratwurstboy,

You’re the one ranting about shit for no reason lmao

    sederx,

you dont understand forums do you?

did somebody force you to reply to this post? is somebody forcing you to be a cunt? did somebody force you to check my history and get butthgurt because i dont like the same stuff you do?

no, you took each of those choices and then acted like i took a shit in your porch.

voluntarily seeking things you dont like is a problem you should discuss with a professional.

best of luck, im gonna block you now for your own good.

Bloodborne has sucked me back in. Super satisfying gameplay.

I also replayed Re7 and Re8, just fantastic together.

    iheartneopets,

I love both of those games so much. RE7 as the spooky RE experience I was too young to have when the first 2 came out, and RE8 as a campy horror movie (that spawned amazing memes on the subreddit before reddit went to shit) that is extremely fun to play. It’s also short enough that you can blast through again and again trying to beat your last time or trying out different guns… Loved it. Though it was cheesey, I did love the Winters’ story by the end—even made me tear up a lil

Heck yeah, game industry workers are long over due for unionization. CDPR developers just had a headline in the news about unionizing after this latest wave of layoffs.

    Callie, (edited )
    @Callie@pawb.social avatar

absolutely. Blizzard just had major layoffs to their Esports league, Epic had more than 800 layoffs, Naughty Dog laid off 25 or more developers and Ubisoft let go of 6 more employees after axing 60 earlier this year. and ofc the 9% of layoffs coming from CDPR this year.

The gaming industry absolutely needs union protections to protect their jobs, especially since a job should be steady income, not a volatile workload like developing seems to be in gaming right now. another benefit might be to making big execs actually have reason to listen to workers when it comes to cases of sexual harassment like what we’ve seen at Zenimax and Blizzard

LaGG_3, do gaming w Buggy games should be 100% allowed to be refunded.

Never buy a AAA game on release. They’re all buggy messes until a year or so in.

I genuinely wish I could find a new career and hobby at this point. I’m just too tired.

    LaGG_3,

Definitely easier said than done, but you’re right - if you’re not enjoying the games, try something new to give them a break.
