Haven’t seen these mentioned, Citizen Sleeper and In Other Waters by Jump Over the Age are incredible games, beautiful artistically and really great world building

Untitled Story was by the person who made Celeste. It’s old and looks like it was made in mspaint, but it was such a good metroidvania.

So I have been getting bored of Minecraft but felt like having a twist on my own new single player survival world.

So last week I started out in Minecraft 1.5.2, which was the version I started playing on, and I intend to slowly upgrade the world, along the way collecting mobs, blocks, items and world generation not possible in later versions (dubbed Discontinued Items).

My latest endeavour was actually switching to the 2013 April Fools version, Minecraft 2.0, and obtaining things like enchanted signs, creating setups for floating blocks (ladders, torches, floating sand/gravel, etc.), things that will survive the upgrade to 1.6.

Started playing Styx: Master of Shadows last week. I’m not that far into yet, but I’ve really enjoyed the few missions I have played. I’m a big fan of stealth games and fantasy settings, so I’m not sure how I missed this one when it originally came out.

I picked up King of Seas on sale just to have something silly to play. It’s a fun little thing, getting to roam around as a pirate and dodging the navy and main quest alike in pursuit of a fancier ship

CaptainBasculin, do gaming w Gacha gamers: which is your favourite disappointment simulator and why?

There’s just one gacha game I play called Genshin Impact; but I ignore its gacha aspect entirely. Used to play way more until I finished the story and made all my characters level 90 + level 20 artifacted, nowadays I play it when a new update comes, complete the story quests and quit until next update. There really isn’t much point.

I have 35k primos, 35 purple pulls, 70 blue pulls and still haven’t pulled any aside from the beginner banner. The free characters that comes with events feel more than enough, but finding weapons is a bit difficult.

Maybe I will start pulling after the storyline ends; but it doesn’t seem likely that it will anytime soon. I don’t get why some people pay so much for this game.

I recommend getting critically-acclaimed game “Half-Life”, it’s great with mods like Action Half-Life and They Are Hungry.

Still completely and unhealthily obsessed with F1 Manager 2023, nearing the end of my second season as Aston Martin. Hard/Hard difficulty has felt about appropriate thus far, at least on a team starting in a good position like AM. I was sweating at the start of this season since the board expected me to get second and I started the year a little slow, but it looks like I will pull it off. Still couldn’t touch Red Bull or Max this year, though I have taken a couple of race wins.

The development race has been tight so far, with Mercedes roaring back after a dismal 2023 season and Red Bull refusing to let me outdevelop them.

It’s a little sad that the first two installments didn’t sell well and F1 Manager 2024 looks like it will be the last entry in the series. Sure, the game has its issues, but there are a lot of good things here too, and a lot of systems that could be refined with time. I didn’t play F1 Manager 2022, but it seems like a lot of the problems with it were addressed in 2023, as well.

Overall, I still recommend the game if you’re an F1 fan, especially if you can find it on sale. You probably have to at least like racing (if not F1) to enjoy it though, as the main draw here is the race-day experience.

t3rmit3, (edited ) do gaming w I hate the term "Boomer Shooter"

When games like Duke Nukem 3D or Quake were out, Boomers were what? 30 to 50 years old?

You mean, like most of us Millennial gamers are now (30+)? The youngest Millennials, born in 1996, will be 30 in 2 years.

These games clearly took inspiration from 90s FPS games, which 👌, but they were played mostly by Gen Xers and Millenials, not Boomers.

I’m a middle-Millennial (1988), and Doom was well before my time as a gamer. I was 5 years old in 1993. Halo (2001) was more my generation, just barely. The oldest Millennials in 1993 were 12 years old, which was not the target age group for Doom.

GenX? Sure, they played Doom, but Boomers were by far the larger age group playing “Mature” games at that time. Video games have never been just for children.

Rodina is a very cool space game. You fly a starship - which you can completely design and walk around inside - around an open solar system. You land on planets and asteroids ( seamlessly in real-time) and collect pieces of the very awesome scifi novel-like story. I believe there are now enemy alien bases you enter, but when I played the real draw was the incredible lonely atmosphere of space. It has some of the best newtonian space flight/combat I’ve played to this day, and the gun play is kind of like old school Doom. I’m sure it’s come quite far since I played years ago, but it was literally a one man project at the time.

Graphically, it’s very low-poly, and it’s not the most varied game, but what’s there is 👌

Anyone who likes space scifi should play it. It’s incredible, and it came before No Man’s Sky released.

cafuneandchill,

I remember playing a very early version of this; at the time, it looked very cool, even if somewhat basic
