I’ve been playing through it with a few of my pf2e group.

Larian did such an amazing job with this, and I am enjoying it, but I find myself wishing this game had the action economy from Div : OS2 or pf2e.

That said, I’m glad to see that they’ve continued the trend of their prior crpgs, and made something approaching the flexibility of a GM behind a screen.

Is thee anyone here who hates turn-based RPGs, tried this game and actually liked it?

sweafa,

yep, here! and its awesome!!!

Clamor_,

Can concur! I absolutely despise turn based combat but I’ve been enjoying this game through and through for 30 hours.

EremesZorn,

I usually despise cRPGs (turn-based, party-based tactical, can’t grind to be OP, decisions matter TOO much) but love JRPGs. But I cannot put this game down. It’s just too well-made and there’s too much flexibility and interactivity not to be intrigued at every turn.

It’s great!! At first I wasn’t too into it, but I leaned in to my chaotic stupid bard shenanigans and I am having a blast. The dialogue and VAs are fantastic, especially Astarion’s (who doesn’t!?). This is my first cRPg and it’s good introduction to beginners new to the genre. Choices are remembered by characters so be careful. Combat can be confusing at times because I’m dumb and don’t play DnD.

I’ve honestly been taken by surprise with this game! I’ve never played a CRPG or D&D before and I thought I wouldn’t like it. I’m hooked! Literally my game of the year (so far).

Been having good fun with Baldur’s gate 3. Combat is taking me a bit of getting used to but it’s overall pretty nice. The plenty of character cutscenes really are nice. One suggestion for improvement is that I need all of the characters to have the Scottish accent, not just some.

I’m okay with it, as long as it doesn’t turn into the cesspool the same community “on the other site” was.

I guess harsh criticism of particular games are better served on their own communities instead of badmouthing them gratuitously for non-players.

As disclaimer for personal bias, I play Genshin and PGR (and I’m satisfied with both), and I’m not fond of games like Nikke and Blue Archive. Even then, I’d rather never shit on Nikke and BA, and have more nuanced discussions.

RightHandOfIkaros,

Why don’t you like NIKKE or Blue Archive? Is it gameplay related, or pull rate, ui design, something else?

Marxine,
@Marxine@lemmy.ml avatar

Both for gameplay and character designs. I don’t know much about the plot or pull rates, so I’m not judging on that. BA’s community also doesn’t have the best image from the outside in regards to "character appeal preferences ", but I try to limit myself to what I can judge based on my own personal experience only.

Yesterday I was playing with some buddies in chat. Another buddy that isn't playing with us asked if we were doing the main quest line or side quests. I responded, "There aren't any main or side quests. You just kinda play". At that moment it finally clicked. BG3 is a game where you just enjoy yourself without a conception of what you're doing mattering or not. You put your own weight into your experiences.

That’s true of D&D in general. Like yes, technically there’s a main quest, but honestly they all kinda intertwine in a big plot soup.

No wonder there’s 17,000 endings.

RightHandOfIkaros, do gaming w Anyone interested in a GachaGaming community?

I typically prefer to only engage in the specific communities of the gacha games I play. I don’t like or have interest in all gacha games, and the ones I do play are so niche they would just get lost in the void to all the ten million posts about Honkai Star Rail or that FATE gacha game.

I am sad there is no Super Mecha Champions community, but the game is pretty niche as it is, so its not all that surprising. While me posting about it could act as a sort of draw for potential new players, I am not an advertiser nor am I paid to do that. If someone asks, I will mention it, but other than that I typically just stick to the existing Discord.

That being said, if a community for anything doesn’t already exist on your chosen instance, or if one does exist but you don’t like its moderation or whatever, nothing is stopping you from creating one yourself.

entropicdrift, do gaming w I tried playing the two original Baldur's Gate games on Ubuntu. It's hell.

I switched from using Lutris to using Heroic for my GoG/Epic games. Works perfectly for me. When in doubt, Heroic with the latest Proton-GE plays basically any Windows game, and for GoG it handles the native Linux download/install way more consistently than Lutris and its pile of crowdsourced scripts.

Nia,

Same here, I love what Lutris has done and it’s made a ton of games way easier to run on Linux, but Heroic has given me that “download and click play” feel that I missed from Windows. It abstracts away a lot of the process but still leaves ways to configure it heavily for those who need.

Am a fan of the simple by default, powerful when needed approach.

@tenth I'm not interested because gacha is a predatory type of game that generally invites the worst practices in game design (or, "best" if you consider making money out of every single action a player does). But some people do enjoy them in spite of that, so you do you.

Herbstzeitlose,

What’s the point of this comment, showing the filthy Skinner box peasants how enlightened you are?

Would I like this game if I love WoW? Vanilla/BC WoW, not modern retail crap

SlowNPC,
@SlowNPC@kbin.social avatar

It's totally different from wow. Wow is a real-time mmo. BG3 is a turn-based fantasy RPG (think Divinity:Original Sin or Wasteland 3).

It’s D&D.

Do you like D&D? If so, yes. If not, no.

SpikesOtherDog, do gaming w Anyone interested in a GachaGaming community?

When I Gacha, I prefer to find the specific community surrounding it.

I suggest starting the community you want to see and posting your accomplishments as you go. This is coming from someone who misses their mobile game community.
