Coelacanth, do games w What are you all looking forward to at Summer Games Fest?
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

I had no idea it was today so I’m not looking forward to anything in particular. Having just finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 it would be amazing news if they had an announcement that they’re intending to release a DLC.

Would also love to see something from Remedy about Control 2 as I love those guys and the Remedy Connected Universe. Well, what I’m really desperate about is Alan Wake 3, but that’s surely not even in pre-production yet (sadly).

Would not mind seeing something from Bloodlines 2 either out of morbid curiosity, but I have no hopes it will actually be good.

grandmagos30,

I’m excited for Control 2, but with FBC: Firebreak coming out soon, I don’t think it’s gonna be for 5-6~ years

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

Control 2 entered full production this year. I don’t think it’ll be more than 3 years unless something goes terribly wrong.

Omega_Jimes, do games w What's going on with Borderlands 2? Steam is giving it for free, but the game has 23% positive recent reviews.

I just don’t understand anticheat or copy protection on PvE games. I can understand it if you don’t want to play against a cheater, but this is a cooperative shooter.

porous_grey_matter,

See you’re looking at it from the point of view that it would serve the player experience, but that’s not what it’s for, it’s to mine your data

  • Elevator7009,

    Hey, you posted this twice. Pretty easy to do, if your initial post does not go through and you hit Reply again…

    ILikeBoobies,

    We haven’t gotten another Middle Earth game because it had an online requirement

    Now look where we are

    thermal_shock,

    It’s for precedent on future games and to sneak in shit for later. Wittle down your expectations and privacy, make it “normal”.

    Sabata11792,

    Need to protect those purchasing opportunities from cheaters.

    anarchiddy,

    IIRC Borderlands 3 scales the value of loot to the game’s difficulty setting, with some mechanics aimed at encouraging players to join online coops at high difficulties in order to earn more valuable loot. I imagine cheats undermine that intent, and I also imagine borderlands 4 might be aiming at a pay to play scheme.

    I’m guessing this EULA is being used for all their IP with the intent of taking advantage of it in the future.

    @RobotZap10000@feddit.nl avatar

    Yeah, I’m also of the opinion that Fallout 4 lacks that spark that makes a good game. It’s got all of these fancy environments, characters, mechanics, and graphics (for the time), yet it just doesn’t seem to all come together for me. Skyrim, while being a little tedious at times, actually feels like something you would really want to play to the end and then some. Fallout 4, however, isn’t much more in my eyes than a mishmash of vaguely game-adjacent concepts that barely appear to fit together.

    Legendsofanus,
    @Legendsofanus@lemmy.ml avatar

    Maybe cuz despite all of the settlement helping and everything, the game doesn’t manage to be lived in. The constant radiant quests show the mechanicality of the game instead of fleshing out the world. I love Morrowind, I just played it for the first time last year and it still felt like a more lived world than Fallout 4

    Sophocles, do gaming w Self insert power fantasy recommendations?

    These come to mind where you can kill enemies, be a girl, and are or are similar to an rpg:

    Middle Earth: Shadow of War: main character is a guy but in one of the expansions you can play the story as Galadriel. Killing monsters and game mechanics are peak

    Skyrim Mods: ik you mentioned Skyrim, but The Wheels of Lull, The Tools of Kagrenac, and The Forgotten City are game sized mods in of themselves and are very good

    Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and IV Oblivion: both as good as Skyrim, but in different ways. Go in with an open mind and you will be amazed

    Star Wars KOTOR I & II: my favorite games of all time, very much games where you can choose how your character acts and who they become. Great story too, as a fan of star wars or not

    MummysLittleBloodSlut,

    I beat Morrowind, and I like it, but nobody in that game is pretty. KOTOR is closer to what I want, but it’s very plot-y, and I already beat them both. I want something less thinky and faster paced.

    SteleTrovilo,

    Morrowind has mods that make characters prettier (this is an understatement). I highly recommend them.

    jordanlund, do games w I made a terminal-based hacker simulation game for CLI nerds. It's free. Feedback?

    I agree, Bethesda is shit.

    Kolanaki, do gaming w Self insert power fantasy recommendations?
    @Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

    Idk what you look like to narrow down the recommendations. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I will say that despite all the negative shit I’ve heard about Forspoken, I think the combat and traversal systems are super fun and the stupid bracelet is vastly more annoying than the protagonist. The game is literally “girl boss power fantasy” too.

    Sanctus, do gaming w (SPOILERS) Bethesda is shit - Fallout 4 (2015) Impressions
    @Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

    I would say the only thing I cherish from Fallout 4 is the power armor mechanics. Throw that shit in New Vegas and let’s gooo

    argh_another_username, do gaming w If you hear Latin, you're in trouble.

    Oh the hate for the two health bars.

    FooBarrington,

    Oh boy would you enjoy the final boss of Sekiro, 4 health bars

    moody,

    The first one doesn’t count. It’s really just a formality.

    FooBarrington,

    Tell that to my gourds!

    ramble81,

    Never play most any Final Fantasy game…

    colderr,

    Spider-Man 2 has a cool thing where every single boss has at least 3 health bars technically. You beat it the first time and then a cutscene, then you beat it a second time and you get a cutscene, and then you beat it for a third time and you again get a cutscene.

    The final boss is especially annoying, where it does that same thing but just 10 times (no joke).

    The fights play out pretty similar too, which doesn’t help.

    But I still loved the game!

    NotASharkInAManSuit,

    Spider-Man is one of the few games that I loved the long drawn out battles in, they made the combat in those games so much fun, and it made it feel like a proper comic book superhero fight.

    gamermanh, do gaming w If you hear Latin, you're in trouble.

    Or it’s chiral bells and suddenly you’re experiencing Yoko Taro’s newest mindfuck addition to Drakengard/Nier (as a FFXIV fan the Nier raid final boss was awesome, JS)

    wirelesswire, do gaming w Self insert power fantasy recommendations?

    Last Epoch: Fun ARPG with a couple different female characters available. The buildcraft complexity strikes a sweet spot between Path of Exile and Diablo 4. You can definitely turn your brain off and kill enemies by the truckload.

    Fallout 4: Along the lines of Skyrim, just swap fantasy with post-apocalyptic sci-fi. You can play as a girl, and see plenty of tiddies depending on mods (shoutout to the “A Storywealth” collection on Nexusmods).

    Fallout 3 and New Vegas: see above, just older.

    Wayfinder: fun RPG game with set characters, but a few are girls. Combat was fun IMO. This one started as a live service game, but after backlash and their publisher dropping them, the devs rebuilt the game as a pay-to-play game with an end.

    Bayonetta: kill tons of baddies with over-the-top combat as a sexy witch.

    Dynasty Warriors & other “musou” games: lumping these together, but girls to play and TONS of enemies to kill

    Granblue Fantasy: Relink: plenty of girls to play as, and fun combat. Honestly, the biggest drawback to this one IMO is not enough content after you finish the campaign.

    Saints Row 2, 3, 4: definitely self-indulgent trash, definitely boobs, still fun

    ReplicantBatty,

    I’d also recommend Saints Row 2 and 3. It starts off pretty normal but you get OP pretty fast to the point where you’re like an unstoppable force of nature, it becomes completely gratuitous and over the top. Pretty decent character customization as well.

    Keegen, do games w The first weekly What Are You Playing? thread!

    I finished my second playthrough of Drova - Forsaken Kin (wanted to see both of the camps + experience the new content added with the last patch) somewhat recently and it gave me the itch to go back and replay the first two games from the Gothic series. I’m already done with Night of the Raven and making my way through the first game now. Getting them to run smoothly on Linux was a bit of a process but other than that they still hold up incredibly well, at least in my incredibly biased view.

    blomvik,

    I am som enthralled by Drova, you should give the Myrtana: Archolos mod a try. Really liked it.

    Keegen,

    Worry not, I already played it long ago! I’m patiently and eagerly waiting for them to release the Mod of The Decade edition to re-play it again, I’ll definitely try the city guard path and I’m very excited to see what the teased water mage path will be.

    “Oh, cool, a Titanite slab :D” “Why is Father Ariendel speaking…?”

    “WHY IS GEAL STILL HERE???”

    “AAAAAAGGHHHHHH”

    Duke_Nukem_1990, do gaming w Self insert power fantasy recommendations?

    It depends on your definition of “pretty” but in Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup you get to slaughter countless hordes of critters to dragons. Go for a brain off Minotaur Berserker with an axe and shield and get killing! Go here if you need more character ideas: tavern.dcss.io/t/…/1057

    Dremor, (edited ) do games w Day 323 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games l've been playing
    @Dremor@lemmy.world avatar

    I’ve spent so many hours building empires in that game. I even played to it on the Deck (docked) with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. :D

    MyNameIsAtticus,
    @MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

    Damn. Last December if I had played then that would have been my load out too lol. How does it run on the deck? I’m seriously considering installing it on mine to take it on the go

    Dremor,
    @Dremor@lemmy.world avatar

    It ran great.
    Obviously it is better to keep it to a medium to small sized galaxy for his tiny CPU to keep up during endgame, but I was very surprised how well it ran.

    I should try one of my enormous galaxy endgame one day, to see how well it will manage 😆

    MyNameIsAtticus,
    @MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

    I’ll have to set it up then. I probably won’t go larger than a medium galaxy so it should do well then. If I get back into fine tuning the performance for steam deck maybe I can get a good balance too
