morphballganon,

The terf game?

The owner of the Three Broomsticks is trans… ?

morphballganon,

Tons of people worked on the game who aren’t bigots. Artists, programmers, designers etc. Buying the game supports them, too.

Also, someone decided to make the owner of the Three Broomsticks trans.

morphballganon,

If your argument hinges on the colors being duller than The Wind Waker, perhaps you are setting the bar too high? TWW is more vibrant than 99% of modern games.

morphballganon,

There are actually quite a few people who hate the weapon durability system, so the rest of the world doesn’t love BotW.

The colors argument is baffling though. The greens of Hyrule Field are pretty vibrant.

morphballganon,

Those pics do look great.

morphballganon,

Moronic ideas deserve them. What do you think downvotes are for?

morphballganon,

A creator could see chronology as a limitation, or an opportunity.

The hero of time clearly did a lot in the time between MM and TP (where he appears as the Hero’s Shade). There’s an opportunity to create a game about the hero of time after MM, where he returns to Hyrule, and learns those special skills that he later passes on to the hero of twilight.

Or just come up with something new. Whatever.

morphballganon,

After Tears of the Kingdom I got a few cheap games. The ones I finished from among them were The Last Campfire, Arise: a Simple Story and Aspire: Ina’s Tale. Each one was worth the $2-3 I spent for them. I could see myself replaying TLC or Aspire. Arise was ok to do once but it’s too emotional for me to want to replay.

What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises? angielski

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Ethical/consumer reasons...

morphballganon,

As an alternative to what?

morphballganon,

I feel like the Sonic franchise’s last great game was Adventure 2. There’ve been a couple good ones since then, but not great.

Anyone got a good replacement?

morphballganon,

They borked the analog sensitivity. It’s trash.

Would you prefer if games had a separate difficulty setting for boss fights? angielski

I usually play games on “normal” difficulty these days, for a balanced challenge. However, I don’t particularly enjoy boss fights, or at least I don’t enjoy the extra challenge associated with them. Was thinking it would be nice if games had a separate setting so I could just set boss fights to “easy”, while not...

morphballganon, (edited )

Some games like Halo, if I recall correctly, literally rewarded you with special cutscenes for the hardest difficulty in beating the game. That can leave players who “aren’t good enough” for such high difficulty to feel a bit left out.

Those players can either youtube it or keep trying.

I beat Reach on SLASO (minus the skull that hides your gun and HUD after the first level) and it would have been less satisfying if the game made it easier when I died.

morphballganon,

If you want to disqualify games for quest-breaking glitchiness at launch, BG3 gets disqualified before TotK does.

morphballganon, (edited )

He’s getting a pretty sweet severance package. I think he’ll get through this.

(This isn’t the first executive-level resignation on his resume)

morphballganon,

As long as getting a perfect grade is doable, I like it. This is why Sonic Adventure 2 is a great game; getting S rank is doable.

I decided Sonic Heroes 100% would take more time/effort than I wanted to give, so I put it down.

What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved? angielski

I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....

morphballganon,

Bomberman 64

Eternal Darkness

The Conduit

Halo Reach

morphballganon,

Just games where you make the things you use out of raw materials you get from the ground

morphballganon, (edited )

The game literally tells you you can use warm clothing or elixirs to keep warm. There’s even another method they don’t tell you, equipping an elemental weapon can change your temperature. Just have a flame blade on your back and you can survive running around in snow.

Learning where to buy clothes and how to make elixirs is not hard. Just talk to people near where you’re struggling.

Weapon durability is only a problem if you don’t exercise any discretion in which weapon you use for which situation. If you use your best weapon on weak enemies, you won’t have it later when you face stronger ones. So… don’t.

morphballganon,

Anyone know any video-to-gifv bots on lemmy? Can’t watch in its current form for some reason

Games consoles are infuriatingly exempt from California's otherwise important new right to repair bill (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

California, the biggest state in the US when it comes to both population and the sheer volume of tech companies squeezed into its borders, has just passed the country's most extreme right to repair bill in the US (via Ars Technica). It's the third state to pass such a bill, but goes further than either Minnesota or New York in...

morphballganon,

Game consoles are like proprietary PCs with some of the features removed. If PCs are included, couldn’t you argue game consoles are too?

morphballganon, (edited )

It would be 100% possible for game devs to include an option to mitigate drift (require the stick to be pushed at least ~x% to move at all, adjustable anywhere from 10 for slight drift to 50 for extreme cases). Haven’t seen the slightest effort nor heard a peep on that.

Bunch of people in the replies seemingly never tried to play puzzle games with drift and have no idea how much trouble it can cause. Do the puzzles in The Last Campfire with joycon drift and let me know how it goes.

morphballganon,

It wouldn’t be the default, obviously… did you read the first part of my post?

morphballganon,

Ok now release some new DLC at the same time!
