    Yeah, not much of an emotional reaction from me, beyond a slightly incredulous laugh and an extended wow punctuated by gawking in awe. Definitely should have brought my 'nocs!

    I was hyped for Animal Well before it got picked up by Big Mode, but the signal boost it’s gotten has me excited that it’ll be a big thing for a few weeks. This kind of game doesn’t often go viral.

    If you want something similar in the meantime, I highly recommend Knytt Underground, Rain World, or Gato Roboto. Or check out Within A Deep Forest for free.

    Zoomboingding, do games w Power-mad modder puts Sonic the Hedgehog at the heart of the most tedious game ever made, so you can speed boost to the end in 3 straight hours instead of 8.

    Definitely trying this one out. I’ve been a daily POGO player since launch because it gets me outside walking around. I liked how Pikmin Bloom had the passive pedometer angle, but it also had to constantly check GPS, so it was a battery hog.

    I’d definitely benefit from Google Fit integration since I like to use the elliptical while wearing my watch. But I’d still get plenty of distance with just pedometer. Least of which because I’ll already be playing POGO.

    @Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

    Legends means it’ll use the open world battling and catching mechanics seen in Legends Arceus.

    Also features city planning, could be post-war reconstruction in the past (3000 years ago).

    Also, the mega symbol at the end implies new Mega Pokemon.

    And since it has a 2025 release date, hopefully it will have enough time to bug fix. Likely, it will use the existing Legends Arceus engine so hopefully that allows them more time to refine.

    Such a shame more games don’t use this. It worked for PSO because fights were relatively drawn out/telegraphed, so there was always a chance to build up/slow down the music.

    I wonder if AI could get used to dynamically generate a transition between battle/overworld themes. Or at least, if the composer makes one and use AI to make all necessary versions.

    Have you played Pikmin 2 or 3? Those use adaptive midi tracks based on what happens in boss fights/caves.

    Your only takeaway should be that Genshin’s music is way better than it has any right to be. Here’s a few of my favorites

    Sumeru battle theme
    Balladeer fight
    Raiden fight
    Azhdaha fight
    Port Ormos
    Teapot

    Late game Genshin is anything but slow. Well, and I liked BotW’s Master Mode~

    BotW exploration with a really wild combat system. Also has incredible music and interesting worldbuilding. Also has a heap of time wasting bullshit and gotcha.

    Zoomboingding, (edited ) do games w What are some hidden indie gems nobody knows about?
    @Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

    Pick your favorite genre:
    What The Golf? - A wild and hilarious mini golf game
    Miasmata - A horror/cartography game… you heard me right! You have to use the intuitive in-game triangulation system to create your map and find your way around an island while being stalked by a creature as you search for a cure to your mysterious ailment
    Rain World - 2D Metroidvania where you’re a little slugcat in a post-apocalyptic world filled with dangerous predators and lethal rainstorms
    Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor - Life sim where you’re a janitor in a bustling Star Wars-esque spaceport living on the edge of poverty and dreaming of more
    One Shot - Emotional story-driven game in a similar vein of Undertale
    Night in the Woods - Not that hidden, but I absolutely love this one. Narrative life sim about someone returning from college to their Appalachian hometown and mysterious things are going on
    Dreamfall Chapters - Adventure game that spans a sci-fi dystopia and fantasy world with many interconnections
    Grow Home - 3D platformer where you’re a little robot growing giant beanstalks to return to your spaceship
    There Came An Echo - Tactical strategy shooter you control only with your voice

    Zoomboingding, do gaming w The Day Before still has one player logging in, a week before shutdown
