Star Citizen's first-person shooting is getting backpack-reloading, dynamic crosshairs, procedural recoil, and other improvements to 'bring the FPS combat to AAA standard' (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

Well, I mean, I would have launched it first (as an AAA game), but I’m no game developer. 🤷 And neither are they, from the looks of it. Good at perpetually raking in money for himself and his family, though!

Zahille7,

I think some of them want players to be “pirates,” so they give them the tools to do so.

I’m only speaking from experience in other space games I’ve played.

Zahille7,

I’m pretty much all digital. I know the arguments for “you don’t really own those digital copies of media,” but it still feels like it’s mine because I can still go and play any of those games whenever I want. I’d just need to reinstall it with an Internet connection.

My PC doesn’t even have a disk drive so I can’t play physical unless I get an external drive, and I don’t really care enough to do that.

Zahille7,

I was watching Mo1st play Helldivers the other night and he mentioned someone’s comment about it having the kernel anti-cheat, and one of his buddies immediately said “that guy’s a redditor.”

I had never felt more attacked yet agreed with something so much.

Zahille7,

I haven’t played the game but damn, that’s shitty.

Zahille7,

Thanks for the heads up. Just downloaded it.

Zahille7,

It seems to be the new norm and I honestly hate it. So I find it incredibly refreshing when there’s a demo you can actually just play whenever you want.

Zahille7,

I mean Skull & Bones, the $70 always-online piratey piece of shit from Ubisoft, has an ad in the game for the Premium Edition - which, I shit you not, the first line of the description says “premium edition gives you access to the Full Game.”

Like, fuck any form of modern gaming whatsoever after this point. I bought the Arkham games cause they’re on a huge sale on steam (literally $10 for the whole trilogy, and Origins is currently $5) and have been having a fucking blast replaying those amazing games.

Zahille7,

This works so well lol

How Do You Deal With Thumb Stick Drift? (lemmy.world) angielski

So I like to use Xbox controllers (doesn’t matter if it’s first- or third-party) because I like the layout, it’s just comfortable to me. However I’ve noticed that on all my controllers in the past few years, the left thumb stick will start to “give out” over the course of a couple months. For instance I’ll be...

What games do you recommend for my girlfriend? angielski

My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...

Zahille7,

Any “cozy” game. Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, others like those.

One that I personally really like, that sort of blends different aspects of AC and SV, is Paleo Pines. You have a ranch that you little by little clear out, fix up, and decorate; all with the help of adorable dinosaur friends. There’s actually a surprising number of species and map space in the game, and the vibe and aesthetic are ridiculously cute. I will say it’s slightly more laid back than SV as there are no real timers for the different quests and such, and there are fewer characters to keep track of/befriend.

Zahille7, (edited )

And it’s kind of bullshit that there’s no real balancing for singleplayers.

Each enemy takes a pretty big chunk of your health bar, and you can only attack so fast. They can and will attack faster than you, and sometimes even just stunlock you over and over until you just die and have to respawn. I want to enjoy the game, but I feel like I’m actively fighting against the brain grain when I play it.

Zahille7,

The fact that there are no world settings yet is kinda wild to me. There should absolutely be tweakable world settings in open world survival games

Zahille7,

There are only reshades on the nexus so far.

Trust me, I looked lol.

Zahille7,

I feel like a lot of people, myself included, forget that there’s all kinds of software and such available on steam. Their main thing is games, but they have stuff like Blender (which is free), Vegas Movie Studio or whatever it’s called, and a bunch of others. Don’t they also have movies, or am I wrong on that one?

Zahille7,

I’ve played Viscera, and I actually really like it cause I can get into a bit of a flow state when I’m going along. I find it similar to Hardspace imo.

Though I haven’t heard of Serial Cleaners before.

Zahille7,

Space Marine is still fun to play. And Space Marine 2 is coming out later this year I think.

Zahille7,

Why would they put any kind of combat in Jet Set? The originals didn’t have any combat, other than shoving down cops and spraying them with paint. The same thing is true for BRC which came out last August.

Zahille7,

Only the fact that Infinite Wealth’s NG+ is locked behind a $15 paywall.

Zahille7,

I could see it being a thing with 50 players. Honestly Crazy Taxi Battle Royale sounds kinda hectic, but fun.

Zahille7,

They did the same thing with the Destroy All Humans! remakes. Which was probably needed, because the Japanese level in 2 is really iffy

Zahille7,

Or like the L.A. Noire bloopers/outtakes.

Zahille7,

I think so. It’s got an interesting story, and finding all the evidence to catch the perp is pretty fun too imo. It definitely plays up the “noire” of it all, with the pulpy detective cases and interrogations.

Definitely give it a shot.

Zahille7,

I saw one YouTuber that I follow play it. It looked kinda interesting from his video, but he also has the same criticisms.

Zahille7,

Is there “ammo”? I know there’s like a reload/recharge system isn’t there?

Zahille7,

That’s… not true at all. A game can look fun from gameplay videos and screenshots, but a lot of people will still ask “is it fun?”

The same question got asked about Hogwarts Legacy, and even Jedi Survivor, and both of those were extremely fun to play imo.

Zahille7,

What a wild thing to pull out of your ass

Who, in your opinion, is the most annoying character in any game?

Personally, it’s Faith from Farcry 5 for me. Uninteresting dialog that can be summed up to “I was bullied once” and that’s it. Literally every other character is so much more interesting. Jacob gives you a sequence where you run through a gulag which he then uses against you, John tries to kill you and is openly hateful...

Zahille7,

Lol right?

Zahille7,

The challenges in the DLC was straight bullshit most of the time.

And I always hated what Spidey said whenever he didn’t get gold on any of them. Like why do you actually give a shit? She’s an actual insane person.

Zahille7,

Nice Hook reference

Zahille7,

I don’t think I’ve ever finished watching a playthrough. I saw the scene with the stuffed elephant and noped out. Who is this game for? All these characters are terrible people.

Zahille7,

I kinda liked the wingsuit in 4 tbh. I loved actually flying around with the jetpack. But it has nothing on the jetpack in 3, with the rocket launcher and all.

Zahille7,

I bought the DLC last week after finally finishing the story, mostly because it’s stated as almost a direct sequel, with a story about as long as the first. It also deals with the consequences of some of your decisions during the main story.

I haven’t played it yet, but I’m excited to jump in.

Zahille7,

I feel cold when I play it. Especially in the northern parts of the map.

Zahille7,

Sam & Max is Double Fine if I’m not mistaken

Zahille7,

I played the demo last night after seeing this post. Tbh the character design is what made me want to play, and it’s actually really fun. There are two levels you can play through, the tutorial and (what I assume might be) the first level. The tutorial is pretty short, but the level after actually has a lot, and I wasn’t expecting that. The multiplayer was actually really fun as well.

Imo the controls could be a little tighter (when you’re going around those curved tracks at top speed the guy always wants to ramp off), but that’s about my only complaint so far.

Seeking: Kid-friendly Adventure/Exploration Games (PC)

My daughter (4) is very into exploring cities, homes and villages in Skyrim, feeding aliens in No Man’s Sky, and cleaning houses in House Flipper. She gets annoyed in games like House Flipper because she can’t leave the property to explore all of the visible houses on the block. I’d like to find other PC games that are...

Zahille7,

Same here. In fact the hype is the reason why it didn’t do well imo. It’s a fine game, nothing too wrong or bad about it, but they hype definitely killed. IGN kept advertising it as “Fallout in space” and “the Bethesda Killer,” and look where we ended up.

Zahille7,

Damn seems like a good update. I’m still only playing the PC GamePass version, but I’m definitely thinking about getting the steam version soon

Zahille7, (edited )

It updated for me overnight. When it was fine I hoped back on to play some more, and it seemed to be this update. V to pick up and throw pals, which they added a reticle for. I also noticed that pals will reset themselves (respawn back by the box) if they get particularly stuck on something

ETA: still can’t rename pals though :(

Zahille7,

How the hell do you even get that far?

Zahille7,

That’s how I started. After a while I was just clicking random combos to see what I could get.

Can someone explain to me why Honkai: Star Rail is treated as something other than trash? I keep seeing posts about it, all over. angielski

It’s a free-to-play mobile gacha game. Therefore, it is trash. That point simply cannot be argued. It’s not up for debate. If you’re here to debate that point, please don’t even bother. All mobile games are trash. All free-to-play games are trash. All gacha games are trash. Again: there is no debate about that....

Zahille7,

Why even waste your time making this post if you don’t actually want anyone to debate you? In your post, and in a couple comments, you say you can’t/won’t be dissuaded from your opinion; so literally why waste your energy making this post (or any of your other bullshit ones, for that matter)?

Zahille7,

Or is it just an excuse for you to call out and talk shit on anyone you don’t like for whatever reason?

Zahille7,

Even still you can’t help but degrade the thing you don’t like. And you still haven’t given me a valid reason as to why, other than “WEEBS BAD”

What are some hidden indie gems nobody knows about? angielski

Which indies did you discover and would love more people to know about? I’ll start: The Pale Beyond. Not sure if it’s a hidden gem tbh, but it’s such a good story rich game. I laughed, I cried and felt the characters struggles. If you like story rich games/ choices matter, check it out.

Zahille7,

I bought that game a while back, but I couldn’t get into solving anything. Maybe I was just playing it wrong or something.

Zahille7,

Why is there such a hate-on for this movie? Like goddamn. Sure it wasn’t anything spectacular or groundbreaking (compared to the first one), but it’s a goddamn treat to look at and it’s fun to watch.
