I just refuse to support Ubisoft. I don’t like their practices, or most of their games. I don’t feel I’m missing much by skipping whatever they make. Hopefully they go out of business and a better company can pick up their IPs and make good games, for a decent price, without crazy micro-transactions, 30 different special packs, and a required secondary launcher
The finals isn’t even a looter shooter though, it’s an arena shooter.
The finals is pretty damn fun though I will say.
I’ll also say I wanted marathon to work, any good competition to tarkov is welcome because I’m not fucking supporting Nikita and his idiotic practices anymore. He got EOD money from me in 2016/17, hope he made good use of it
You can get the items for free by finding them or pay barbers in the villages for it instead. Similar to the first game, the first one was just niche so didn’t have a huge crowd throwing fits instead of reading or even playing the game
Dragons dogma is a fantastic game that I thoroughly enjoyed. The sequel is looking amazing so getting into the world now through the first game is a good idea
Hopefully the infection mechanics are done, I really didn’t enjoy this season and only launched the game to do the holiday and anniversary events since the anniversary hat is limited and holidays are kinda limited.
I liked the robot season a lot, the plague/infection one was just tedious and unappealing aesthetically to me.
Still love DRG and can’t wait to play after the season 5 update.
The main focus of Infinity is a live service offering, which is all told via the modern-day story. To start, Infinity will launch on the same day as Red and will contain several features that you would expect from a live service....
They’re a decade and a half late on this. We were still playing as Altair when everyone said this would be a great ninja game mechanics wise. Now they’re finally doing it but Ubisoft is a shadow of the studio they used to be quality-wise.
I haven’t bought anything from them in almost 10 years and have no intention to since it’s been the same bad game over and over with just more cosmetic stores and micro transactions galore.
Have you been spending hours trying to pass a level? Or maybe you are completely addicted to a newly bought game. Do you have a question about a game or would like to share something else? In the Weekly Discussion Thread, you can do it all!...
Helldivers 2! Played the first one a bit but not nearly as engaged with that as I am in this. Bought on launch day and had a blast until the massive player spike killed the servers, that’s seems to be better now as I was able to get in fine and play for a few hours last night.
It’s 100% worth the price and hype but I recommend waiting a few weeks to a month from now while they fully deal with server load issues and they say mechs are pretty much ready to be added now and are just getting polished.
For background, the first game peaked at ~7000 players, this one had 480K on steam alone and that number again on PlayStation this past weekend. They didn’t expect this level of success and so didn’t plan to have server capacity and robust network code for it, they are putting in the long nights to fix it though and we’re already seeing improvements only a couple weeks in
They claim to have spent 40 million usd marketing it, I saw some people on twitch playing it when it first came out but it looked meh and was priced way too high so I didn’t watch much
In a bad-vibes moment, they’re denying a huge outlet like IGN a review code. No matter what I think of IGN in particular (nothing good tbh), that’s not something I can find a real explanation for other than “We made DC’s Gollum and want to avoid bad press as long as we can”.
I saw shroud playing it on twitch at an event they brought him to the other day. It gave crackdown vibes but with DC character jumping around. Just fly here beat up random dudes, repeat endlessly
Unless they’re having trouble getting them working, which isn’t encouraging for launch.
They at least have some working, they flew a bunch of streamers to LA for an event and had them stream the game a few weeks back.
Looked like a crackdown-ish game with DC character running around. Think like the Spider-Man games of the last few years but without the beloved characters
They talk about treating them with respect… then trap them in poke balls and let them out to fight each other for bragging rights and entertainment. The people of the Pokémon world are the highest of hypocrites and that’s one of the main lessons that should be taken from that show
Sweet, can’t wait to get it on PC when it gets there. Loved the originals on ps2 as a kid, seeing the hydra get its head shish-kabobed in modern graphics will be even more spine-tingling
The best way to save hasbro is cut back on making trash plastic toys for kids and stake the company to a well-staffed, functional WoTC who can deliver what MTG and DND fans want.
Is that in the original spirit of the company? No, but who the hell cares? Certainly not investors and certainly not consumers or they’d be buying the toys
I feel like cyberpunk was a great game, even on release. The story and gameplay were great, it just had performance issues for some PCs and it shouldn’t have been released on consoles at the time.
That said, CDPR marketing team needs to learn to temper expectations
I know survivor bias or w/e but literally no one I know irl who played it 10+ had those issues unless they were on console.
I played it for over a hundred hours immediately after release and only saw a few minor bugs like audio/lip animations not matching for some scenes. I don’t know how all my friends/coworkers were so lucky when all you see on the internet is “worst game ever, doesn’t work at all on release” comments
These could be games that left a lasting impression on you, games that had stellar gameplay mechanics, characters that captivated you, games that you played tons of hours on, etc.
The original Spyro was my absolute favorite as a kid, also enjoyed crash bandicoot, ratchet and clank, and the jak and daxter series. The don’t make adventure games like they used to imo so now I do a lot of strategy and sim games as I’m obviously old now
Escape from Tarkov has been very successful with their own site and launcher. I don’t see it ever going to steam and it’s regularly in the top 10 of twitch
No, it’s saying if you make a good game and launcher then you don’t need to rely on one of the storefront that take 30% like epic or Valve. Idk what GoGs cut is but I’ve also never bought anything from there
Thousands fail every day on the platform as well, is that survivorship bias as well or just evidence that trash fails and quality succeeds regardless of location
Ah man I was really looking forward to this. Oh well, a delay just means the game will be better when it comes out, I’d rather this delay than another trash 40k game be released
From what I saw watching a few streams it seemed fine, closer to the original games but still having that slight off feeling of modern Ubisoft games. Seems like a good game on sale for $30
It’s just a graphical and engine update, it’s version 2 not a full new game. They’ll be able to make lots of small improvements over the next decades but the color gameplay hasn’t changed in 20 years and won’t change for 20 more because it doesn’t need to.
I mean, it’s a free update, you don’t have to be excited or even play it. If you don’t like it then there are plenty of other fishes in the sea as they say
Tbf there are only 4 (plus expansion) of those, there has been a cod per year for like 15 years now and a fifa every year for 20+. Those are the egregious offenders, I’m fine with a game franchise getting a new game every 7 years or so as long as it’s clear the studio has actually put work into that game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a mammoth-sized update, titled Update 2.0, tomorrow, September 21, and it promises to be a bit of a game changer. A police revamp, a progression overhaul, a new cybernetics system, vehicular combat, DLSS 3.5—it's vast, and thankfully separate from the Phantom Liberty expansion due next week, so you'll...
If you got 200hours out of release then clear you got your moneys worth out of the game and enjoyed it, promises not kept or not.
Personally the game could’ve been better but I certainly enjoyed the one 120ish hour playthrough I did and had no major issues other than some texture bugs or weird physics, I had a capable PC though not a last gen console trying to play at being modern.
Yea I played vanilla release over 100 hours, then some ui/qol mods. Looking forward to a vanilla 2.0 and dlc run then maybe see what some of these overhaul mods are doing a few months after that once they’ve been patched up
So considering that starfield got pushed 2 years it’s safe to assume Elder scrolls 6 got pushed at least that as well so 2026/7 for that, a full 15 years after elder scrolls 5
I played ESO at release and had a lot of fun for a bit, now I understand it’s moved to a f2p game with a thousand expansions so I’m super behind and I just don’t feel like catching back up or trying it again as I’m just not into online stuff much anymore
Warhammer has dropped an all-new Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin teaser that details how it plans to "deliver a truly comprehensive RTS game at launch"....
Didn’t a mod get it kinda working not that long ago? The trains were still moving and the stations were there on release, CDPR just put walls up or disabled the doors to the stations/trains. They’re a little jank to ride but it was doable. Felt like CDPR just decided focusing on cool cars was more worth the effort
I feel like any company with a legal department would surely check with them before announcing something like this. But maybe unity is so poorly ran they don’t have a legal team or didn’t check idk
