Immersive_Matthew,

Honestly, I think we are entering an era where via a prompt you will be able to ask AI to make you any experience, show, game, book, VR, song etc etc. I say this as someone who is a VR developer and knows my days are numbered. So are Nintendo’s.

Immersive_Matthew,

I wish this was true, but marketing is explosively effective. I have a top 10 VR app and it only gets sales when I market it despite the glowing reviews. Heck you cannot even sort by review on many sites as then you would not need to market if you title was great.

Embracer Group announces its intention to transform into three standalone publicly listed entities at Nasdaq Stockholm - Embracer Group (embracer.com) angielski

INSIDE INFORMATION: The Board of Directors of Embracer Group AB (“Embracer Group”) today announces a transformative step for value creation through a separation of the group into three market-leading games and entertainment companies: Asmodee Group, “Coffee Stain & Friends”[1] and “Middle-earth Enterprises &...

Immersive_Matthew,

Value creation is not about how your corporation is structured, but how you treat your passionate development team whose talent creates valued games.

Immersive_Matthew,

Wow the trailer in the article for the project was fantastic. What a great project.

Immersive_Matthew,

The funny part is leaders all of the world are going to ask their country to do the same thing too now as none of them realize how ridiculous it is.

Immersive_Matthew,

In my opinion game studios should not sell out to investors and/or have any stocks as it will lead to profit making the calls eventually. It is tempting to get a bunch of investment, I know it would make my game studio easier to run right now, but then you are constantly reminded how it all ends up. Don’t like the system, stop playing in it and build your company slowly and organically instead and retain full control.

Same goes for many businesses outside of gaming. Imagine if there was no such thing as the stock market / investors and all companies had to grow on their own merits.

In my virtual studio everyone is their own sole proprietorship contributing to the project off and on and getting compensated fairly for their contributions. They also have their own projects too and may even pay me to help them sometimes. This way everyone assumes their own risk and reaps their own benefits. If any one person on the virtual team has a hit with their project, they retain full control and owe no money back to some shareholders who did nothing but lend money to make money. It does mean I am way slower than if I could just hire everyone full time as employees, but knowing where having investors will ultimately take me, I accept. Plus going slower means more time to sit on things and polish and not feel time pressure to appease shareholders.

Shareholders are a little like getting a loan and depending on how successful you are, you have to pay back more than you borrowed and giving them control on your art. No thanks.

Immersive_Matthew,

Right. What does AAA even mean? Meta spent billions on their Horizons Metaverse, but countless Indie Metaverses are way higher rated some made by just one person. Clearly AAA does not mean the size of the team or the budget.

Question: what would infrastructure for caustic soda locomotives look like if they had seen mainstream use? angielski

Soda locomotives saw very limited use, and though I’ve found some awesome photos and descriptions thanks to the research of enthusiasts online, I haven’t really found anything describing what exactly the process of draining the probably-boiling-hot caustic slop from the locomotive and refilling it with water and fresh...

Immersive_Matthew,

Wow. This is something I have never heard of before but it conceptually makes sense albeit I am a have no idea how long a tank would run a train for. Would love to learn more too, so please link is to whatever it is your are creating. Hoping a video on the topic.

Immersive_Matthew,

Oh wow. What a great reply and a super cool project you are working on. You have inspired me too as one of the attractions in my VR Theme Park I am Imagineering is about trains and I would love to add a foot note about these. Thanks so much.

How much does it cost to build a shortline railroad? angielski

Just for fun, a thought experiment, how much theoretically does it cost to build a commuter rail service? I’ve lived in a city that has thousands of cars commute to a close by city every day, about 30 miles away. It kills me that there is not an obvious commuter line between them....

Immersive_Matthew,

Is there transit on both ends as one of the challenges with rail in NA is once you arrive at your destination, it can be hard to make that last mile or so transit. It also has to be as fast or faster overall than driving and it has to be cheaper as people will just default to cars again. That has been my experience living in cities around the world.

Immersive_Matthew,

Right. I avoid Twitter at every opportunity. I want nothing to do with that cease pit.

Immersive_Matthew,

I am more than a little surprised. Like I get Microsoft is not overly into VR or MR and even their AR headset has stagnated, but to drop support for products people bought in part because Microsoft backed it, then to just drop it is burning customer confidence and trust. Foolish move.

Immersive_Matthew,

I agree, but no one is really expecting VR/MR/AR/Spatial Computing to be making money right now. It is about investing in the future of immersive tech.

Immersive_Matthew,

agreed, but if MS innovated and pushed the tech forward more they could have gained a bigger audience by now.

Immersive_Matthew,

You are not wrong, but if you want to be in a position to rise with Immersive tech you have to put the time in now to develop and refine it. Getting out of immersive computing right now is like getting out of AI until right now saying it needs to be more mature first. By the time it is more mature, the market players will have been established. I think Apple has really set the Immersive Computing benchmark based on overviews like this one. Immersive computing is very compelling when done right. www.youtube.com/live/xsFuHCTfaZw?si=A9XjgQfKpYJOR…

Immersive_Matthew,

I was surprised how much I loved Hogwarts Legacy. I am not a big Potter fan, but this game really nailed that Universe. Even just wandering around aimlessly was journey of whimsical discovery. I have ToTK, BG3 and Cyberpunk 2077 all on the menu this year, but Hogwarts got the majority of time played by a long shot.

Immersive_Matthew,

I think the bigger issue is that the franchise is stuck in the USA, at the same locations, in the same gangsta American dream plot. I was hoping by they would branch out as there as so many other interesting places outside of the USA that are car focused that are dying to be explored. When I watched the trailer, I felt like I already played this game.

Immersive_Matthew,

I was thinking more Singapore, Tokyo or for something very different like Ho Chi Minh(Saigon) or similar. GTA, but in a radically different type of city not just jungle and villages.

Immersive_Matthew,

Given how stagnant the engine has been over the years, I wonder the same thing. So many people over there yet so little value being added to their game engine.

Immersive_Matthew,

I more than suspect your future personalAGI agent will make you a KotOR remake before Embracer gets to it.

Immersive_Matthew,

Really? I have very high hopes. Not next year or the year after but as we approach the end of the decade you will be able to ask for any experience you desire. Furthrr since it will get to know your taste, it will be tailored to you. I share this with both excitement as a consumer and sadness as a VR developer whose career will be replaced by AI one day.

Immersive_Matthew,

I read the article and they never said what “fail” means?

Immersive_Matthew,

I noticed that too, but the decline is very gradual which shows you how out of touch the shareholders are. I bet most are unaware they are on a sinking ship.

Immersive_Matthew,

Very well articulated. Could not agree more and this is not just a development issue. The control is ultimately to make the rich richer of your value.

Immersive_Matthew,

Hogwarts Legacy was a very solid title with very memorable characters, story and wow what a detailed fun world. Have not played BG3 yet so cannot compare, but Hogwarts is my GOTY so far.
