AnonTwo,

Did you start with the original Yakuza? Kiwami has a couple things that would feel odd to a newcomer if they don't play 0, and the only reason you're skipping Majima Saga here until later is because you moved 0. If you start with 0 then all the context needed for Kiwami 1's additions and Majima Saga are available.

Plus, to be fair, we have had a massive number of newcomers credit to 0. It's probably the favorite in the series now.

AnonTwo,

I mean, they were obviously going to add more modes if they want the game to be AAA. The Original games were basically a 5 minute arcade loop....

AnonTwo,

Yet you care so much about it. Any other "silly" mods you saw pulled today, or just the potentially racist one?

AnonTwo, (edited )

If someone cares so much this mod was removed, I am immediately suspicious of that person.

It becomes a question of "How does this benefit you?"

You've taken all this time saying "Moderators shouldn't care", but then you twist it by saying somebody cares. So why shouldn't the moderators care?

it's either a silly mod nobody should care about, or it isn't. You can't play both sides to weasel the argument you want.

AnonTwo,

It makes them look weak.

How?

You seem to have this outlook that because a mod is "silly", it can't be removed.

I have the outlook that if it's so silly nobody should care, then why do you care it was removed?

Not only that, your hyperfixtation on specifically this mod. This is the silly mod you pick.

Am I not supposed to be suspicious that this is the hill you die on? How many small mods get removed from nexusmods on any given day?

AnonTwo,

It's the implication. Why would you have problems seeing a disclaimer that not everything in the game is culturally sound? (I just woke up and I can't remember the correct word but basically...the game has problems, nobody should be uncomfortable that it's acknowledged)

AnonTwo,

Is it hidden? I remember it being pretty popular when it came out.

AnonTwo,

First person games

I think Portal is the only one I'm fine with, probably because there's not as much action. First person puts me on edge and not in a way that I really appreciate. I also really like to be able to see the character in general.

To that end I also don't really like horror games, but I don't think that's as divisive an opinion.

AnonTwo,

It will absolutely spoil. Ichiban's partner is the main character of the original 0-6

Plus the Yakuza series really doesn't care about spoiling. They will do what they need to catch up players who don't care about that. So if they want to do a story point that requires spoilers, they will just tell you what happened.

AnonTwo,

Mainly Genshin/HSR/Arknights

Just finished Yakuza Gaiden so not much to do. Was great to play Gaiden though, it was invigorating to not feel like I was on a daily grind.

A lot of my gameplay is gated by friend availability atm, and they have not been available.

What is the next "grown up game" now that Minecraft only goes for children? angielski

When Minecraft came out, it was hard to understand, not that good looking and only really catered to nerd gamers. There was no recipe book, no cute animals, no lush caves to explore, just an unforgiving Day-Night cycle and few, very creepy caves....

AnonTwo,

I don't recall it ever being considered a grown up game though. Even when Minecraft first came out most of the people I played with was more interested in playing WoW. I think League of Legends was around that time too.

edit: yeah 2009 was mid wrath of lich king, cataclysm didn't come out until 2010. So that was way too huge a year for WoW to not be pulling most of the older players.

AnonTwo,

You can actually change the title when you post a link from a site though.

AnonTwo,

I'm pretty sure that only applies to trademark laws, not IP laws.

AnonTwo,

...yeah?

IP is different from trademark though. You're using them interchangeably.

The main difference being IP doesn't have a "challenge it or you lose it" rule.

AnonTwo,

...You realize that none of that is setting precedent, it just means you can't pursue, right? You still can't lose the IP even in the worst-case scenario, and the first example you gave even says that.

Copyright protection is effectively never lost, unless explicitly given away or the copyright has expired.

You seem to just really strongly want to justify Nintendo's actions, which are not the norm across the industry for how IP issues are handled....

Like yeah there's shitty IP laws, and shitty trademark laws, but they don't justify Nintendo's specific reactions.

AnonTwo,

Lets see...

-Everything related to Bethesda's mod scene
-The entire Touhou doujin scene, even including sold games/music
-Sonic games which included fans being brought in for sonic mania
-Megaman and Street fighter have huge histories in modding. Pretty sure megaman has an entire fan-game for Zero's orgin story

So...That gives us Bethesda, Sega, and Capcom at minimum for big players, and Touhou pretty much shows you aren't going to lose your fucking IP over this.

No, Nintendo really does just do it more often than everyone else. You don't gain that rep absolutely everywhere just on hearsay.

AnonTwo,

If we've learned anything from the past, just give The Super Monkey Ball Monkey a gun

AnonTwo,

Ahhh....you're trying to play Windows 3.1 games...that's why you're having issues...yeah emulation for Windows 3.1's random differences from Windows 95 and DOS are surprisingly rare still.

There's no dedicated emulator for Windows 3.1 yet. I personally installed a copy onto Doxbox, but it's not a very easy solution.

But I can tell it's 3.1 cause one of those is The Learning Company and the later versions of the Super Solver games have the same issues.

AnonTwo,

Except even without the fees games generally get released at the same price

You're just licking someone else's boot. Epic is by no means pro-consumer.

And yes, google is evil. But that doesn't imply there's someone good in this situation.

AnonTwo,

Didn't that clause already go to court, and it was found to only apply to steam keys, not all releases of the game?

AnonTwo,

Probably the sting in the original Street Fighter II

Though there's a sort-of full version in MvC as Ryu's theme

A lot of games don't even have menu music anymore, or it's ambient and not really noticeable....

AnonTwo,

Did they ever fix the desync issues?

AnonTwo,

The three biggest (note, not only ) points

-It was patched over previous versions. You can't play the non-reforged version anymore
-It removed features the previous version had. In particular networking
-It released with desync issues that would randomly drop players from the game. Wc3 doesn't support rejoin so this basically killed maps depending on how severely they were affected (and note, it even affected normal maps. But custom maps suffered tremendously from this)

Like just given those three points: Why don't you understand?

The fact you even say that custom games improved just makes me think you're being dishonest for some reason...because it wasn't some secret or even rare occurrence. 90% of custom maps were suffering it.

AnonTwo,

To be fair, judging by the fact it's either incest or people getting knives/cleavers put up against their throats, i'm going to go on a wild guess and say it doesn't paint it in a positive light. Maybe even suggests there's something wrong with them.

AnonTwo,

I can understand the sentiments of the thread to offer alternatives

Just remember whats going to happen based on your own christmas as a kid, when you got "The next best thing"

Given there's a lot of good picks, it's still a tale as old as time.

AnonTwo,

Thats just most games though

How did we think Arcades worked?

AnonTwo,

Even a whale can decide to just spend more money on a game they like more. It's not an endless market for companies to delve into.

AnonTwo,

That's not a reddit thing though. People make one-offish comments everywhere. Maybe not in your inner circle specifically but in general i've seen a lot of forums and chat rooms growing up that are like that.

AnonTwo,

I feel like this exact post is several years old....

AnonTwo,

...How did you get THAT from what he said?

AnonTwo,

I'd assume it's because...wtf is 404?

It's hard to compete with companies where the gacha game is literally the only thing they're trying to sell. Yoko Taro's still got the Nier Gacha game.

AnonTwo,

nice, I didn't even hear someone was doing a de-compilation of this.

AnonTwo,

It doesn't always work, but I have to just remind myself of games I played and finished in recent years that didn't have any goal other than "Finish it"

It helps me remind myself I don't need some daily/weekly/monthly/wtfisthisshit goal, that the day isn't wasted because I didn't do those things.

AnonTwo,

Even if you remove the jobs, it doesn't create jobs. If you remove those jobs the people who were taking them are still there.

Where do they go when the jobs are gone? Is this just meant to force those people to change careers? Did your wife's skillset transfer anywhere or is she still unemployed? Or did she get a new job that has nothing to do with translation?

AnonTwo,

...Microsoft has already remade/made several RTS's since Starcraft 2.

Age of Empires.

AnonTwo,

Given Activision was already letting groups come in to do Blizzard games, I'm sure they'd still do the same for the RTS games.

Acclaimed roguelike studio behind Slay the Spire releases new deckbuilder after publicly abandoning Unity over fee debacle (www.gamesradar.com) angielski

TL;DR the developers of slay the spire created a fun free card game within 3 weeks to explore and learn the Godot game engine. You can play it here: megacrit.itch.io/dancing-duelists

AnonTwo,

To your edit, you doubled down hard in later posts, so I wouldn't say the hostility isn't completely undeserved.

I think you just really expected something different from what this was supposed to be, even when people explained to you exactly what it was supposed to be.

AnonTwo,

We also didn't expect ongoing development of games after they were shipped though, aside from bug fixes (sometimes even then )

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Used AI For A Dead Voice Actor’s Performance, With Permission (www.forbes.com) angielski

There are uses of AI that are proving to be more than black and white. While voice actors, have protested their performances being fed into AI against their will, we are now seeing an example of this being done, with permission, in a very unique case.

AnonTwo,

I feel like that answer is for you and you alone, and not for actors in general. Personally I don't really see why I would be worried about this after I die (after all, I'm dead ), and if it helps my family a bit then it'd probably just make me rest easier if anything.

AnonTwo,

To be fair, just because one article exists doesn't mean other articles can't exist. Not every article has to be of equal importance.

AnonTwo,

If a streamer pisses off china they get blacklisted from the entire Chinese game market. That's a pretty big neg for the chinese game industry.

Sure they have good games, but respect is another thing entirely.

AnonTwo,

...You mean the meme that Chinese people were outlawed from doing because it's not offensive to Chinese, it's offensive to the leader?

That'd be like saying caricatures of an American President (of which there are hundreds of) are racist. Even when most of them were made by Americans.

AnonTwo,

...How?

That doesn't even make sense. They'd literally just be too dumb to understand what it was even about.

AnonTwo,

I don't know what you're trying to say. I think it was safe to assume Salty probably meant the local-based keepass or something like that?

I wouldn't have immediately gone to text doc or spreadsheet. those aren't password managers.

AnonTwo,

I don't think a strike really has anything to do with that. It has to do with treating the workers better.

Now if that also came with extending the time for releases (yes, even the really long AAA development cycles) that could probably improve the quality of said games.

AnonTwo,

I'm pretty sure it didn't release to positive reviews.

Unless all the positivity we're talking about is journalist reviews and not people being incredibly angry at the game

In fact wasn't there a review ban on 2077's original release?
