I would argue against that. You can keep the quality up even with larger sizes but you need focused moderation and some level of distinction between sub-communities (e.g. large forums of old would have special rules/culture for certain sections).
With Deus Ex you definitely can play very different characters with a broad spectrum of personalities and narrative decisions. Although I do agree that an argument can be made it’s not an RPG.
Eve is a sandbox MMO and The Sims is lifeim, don’t really see how they are RPGs.
Very few RPGs execute the role playing component so well as VTMB IMO.
Eve Online and The Sims are excellent additions. But they are not RPGs.
I would personally include VTMB or Deus Ex, but from a broader perspective probably one of the Ultimas (6 or 7 are considered the best I believe) would be more appropriate.
Don’t play jRPGs, but from my understanding FF7 is considered the “best in genre” release.
Some are the designs are pretty close I will admit, even though I don’t think Nintendo should be able to randomly shut down gamea that are vaguely similar to Pokémon.
The Deus Ex series often have pacificist playthroughs (3rd one definitely does, you can play a pacificist playthrough of the OG game with a few exceptions).
The Age of Decadence has a mostly skill check and conversation playthrough. I forget if it’s fully pacifict though.
Haven’t tried the demo yet. I will probably try it out before deciding whether to get the release version.
But it feels like my kind of game (I love restaurant management sims and I like sci-fi). I just hope the management and business sim elements aren’t too simplistic
