Blizzard, w Ad blocking on android

You wouldn’t be able to use AdGuard properly with Opera anyway because Opera don’t accept user certificates (issued by AdGuard or AdAway) so it wouldn’t filter https traffic.

Try Vivaldi, amazing browser, built-in adblocker. Hopefully will be better than Opera’s. Personally haven’t tested it as I’m using said AdGuard which Vivaldi has no problem with - one of the reason I moved from Opera to Vivaldi.

Or simply change DNS to AdGuard.

pre, w How is pirating software a thing?
@pre@feddit.uk avatar

Worth noting that paying for a license for software doesn’t stop it being spying malware either. In fact the pirate versions often take out the spying and the reporting-to-homebase that proprietary software does.

The photoshop that phones home to check a license is arguably more malicious than the pirate version that has been cracked so it doesn’t do that.

alexg_k,

Good and valid point. I use opensource software wherever I can.

Though paid software is not going to encrypt your data for ransom or use a keylogger to steal bitcoin (yet).

NullGator,

There was an antivirus that was caught running a bitcoin miner in the background tbf. If memory serves it was Norton?

Nice try, FBI

bear_with_a_hammer, w QBittorrent is better though.

The reason why people put uTorrent in memes is due to its recognition, let’s change this, always create memes with qBittorrent

Honestly what’s the point of even releasing videos or showing it off if all it’s going to amount to is a tease?

Seems like kind of a dick move. If they wanted to make it for personal reasons fine but don’t tell anyone else.

Brkdncr,

Why keep such an accomplishment secret?

It’s a portfolio piece. Nothing wrong with the dude demonstrating what he’s capable of doing. It’s how you break into the game industry.

ivanafterall,

John Activision, here. I like the cut of this developer's gib. He's hired starting immediately.

mp3, w Does anyone still burn their movies to DVD?
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I still burn DVDs for my grandma who lives several hours away. She doesn’t have a computer or the Internet at home, so in order to share video clips from the kids I convert them to a DVD she can play on her TV. She’s so happy each time she receives a new disc in the mail and it allows her to see them grow between visits.

Pulp,

USB?

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

She finds it easier to just put the DVD in there, as it will autoplay the whole thing without any intervention, and I take the time to make a cover and everything.

Could you ammend the reddit links to point to old.reddit? The new design is just bad to look at.

yoichi, w Seedbox recommendations (thinking of switching)

Don’t think about the speeds advertised by providers, you’ll never come close to them. You seem to require a media server, so give more importance to storage.

From my research comparing HostingBy, SeedHost and Ultra.cc - HostingBy has the highest €/TB rate except for the 1TB box which is ironically the highest €/TB rate

Here’s the Google Sheet if you’re interestedIgnore the remarks and INR part, I’m Indian so wanted to see what I would end up paying

I will add on more providers at some point, but these 3 are the big names with decent prices and support.

As for your other problem of app selection, I don’t think you’ll find any of those in most providers natively (except for Transmission). You can request them, but its not a quick process. Instead of that, try installing them yourself. Even without root, it shouldn’t be impossible, the only thing that may be annoying is you may not be able to setup reverse proxy so you’ll need to access those services with ip:port

SpringStorm, w Do you store all your media? And how?

Games and softwares: I store the installers, delete if I don’t like it

Music: store them all, even if some songs in an album isn’t my cup of tea

Videos: want to save all of them, but my storage is pretty small in the first place, so I pick the ones I really like

Ebooks: only downloaded a few, but still save them all

Mangas: usually save unless I don’t really like it or no reason to reread
