Godric, w Bloodlines 2’s new developers don't want it to fight like Dishonored, and are avoiding keycard quests

Good, I think. I hope there will still be Stealth options like in dishonored, but I want to be able to go in and go ham if I want to.

BallShapedMan, w Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 release notes
@BallShapedMan@lemmy.world avatar

Once I’m done with Starfield I’m jumping back into this!

halfmanhalfalligator,

Starfield will let me go when it’s done with me, I have no say in this.

BallShapedMan,
@BallShapedMan@lemmy.world avatar

Feels like an “I’m sorry John” riff could be made out of this.

7112, w Dragon's Dogma 2 New Gameplay Footage Showcases Starting Vocations, Pawn System and More

Wow. Everything about this game looks like it is worth the wait. I hope there are even more classes.

lvxferre, w Party Animals developer addresses "confusion" around playing offline
@lvxferre@lemmy.ml avatar

I wish that I could read Chinese, to check if Recreate Games’ claim of mistranslation holds some ground. It feels fishy though - usually developers are quite cautious with ambiguity; and when a business says that the customers are “confused”, more often than not the customers are quite lucid and complaining about spot on stuff, it’s just that this goes against the business’ best interests.

philycheezestake, w Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC Review - IGN

Well that’s disappointing, but not surprising 😒

High magic stardew valley? Looks really neat! I like the look of the card battles, too.

Chev, w I've tested Nvidia's latest ray tracing magic in Cyberpunk 2077 and it's a no-brainer: at worst it's just better-looking, at best it's that and a whole lot more performance

How is the performance getting better (more FPS) when you use the GPU even more?

conciselyverbose,

They say it's because you don't have to do the same denoise with the new algorithm.

BruceTwarzen,

Just buy a 4090, easy

Psythik,

I already did but Cyberpunk is still boring. What am I doing wrong?

undeffeined,

Not the game for you?

Psythik,

You’re probably right. I like RPGs and I love science fiction, but for some reason I just can’t get into Cyberpunk. You’d think I’d enjoy it but nope. The story just doesn’t captivate me and there isn’t much to do outside of the campaign, so…

Reddit_Is_Trash,

From my understanding, this is an optimized method of raytracing. We could expect to see better looks and better performance with each iteration of raytracing. Especially since it’s a relatively new technology for games.

redcalcium,

The new AI-based denoiser probably uses the tensor cores which is severely underutilized on gaming, thus netting extra performance seemingly out of thin air. One of the main criticism of the new Nvidia cards was how much silicon area they use for those RT and AI cores which could’ve been used to improve performance of traditional rendering had Nvidia used the area for standard GPU cores instead. Now it seems Nvidia finally have more ways to utilize those silicon for gaming, though it’s not clear whether they’re finally fully utilized yet (there were reports about how the tensor cores only have 1% utilization even with DLSS frame generation turned on).

Edgelord_Of_Tomorrow,

If they did use that space for raster AMD would be toast right now.

primarybelief, w This is Microsoft’s new disc-less Xbox Series X design with a new gyro controller

2 TB seems incredibly limited for a disc-less design. 4 TB would be more suitable for a base flagship model.

Corkyskog,
@Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works avatar

Disc’s haven’t seemed to matter in a while. “Pop in this game to download 35GB of game data” “download complete, please download 12GB update before playing game” “update complete, do you have code for expansion pack?, if so please download these 3 7-9GB updates” *phew only a tenth of a TB later I am playing the game

Perfide, w Need for Speed developer Criterion to focus on Battlefield

Fuck Battlefield, I want a sequel to Burnout Paradise :(

HidingCat, w Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Review Thread (90/100 OpenCritic)

Feels like being a patient gamer wins again. Will pick this up at some point.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS, w Embracer makes new round of layoffs, this time at Mythforce developer Beamdog

Beamdog was a Canadian video game developer that was founded by a Bioware co-founder.

The are known for releasing all of the Bioware and BlackIsle CRPG enhanced editions.

Pretty sad to see a blow like this to a good developer but I hope they find a way to get back into the field.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS, w Baldur's Gate 3 developer says pull your PS5 offline to fix sudden crash issue

While I am unhappy with the vast amount of bugs all around in BG3, I am happy at the speed in which they fix them once they are alerted.

mindbleach, w Need for Speed developer Criterion to focus on Battlefield

Sent to the COD mines.

spankinspinach, w CD Projekt recommends starting a new game when Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 drops: 'starting fresh will enhance your overall gameplay experience'

I’m so excited to play this on PS5. Survived a 50 hours playthrough on PS4, liked the story enough but almost purely ground my way through due to shitty performance. This time I wanna just enjoy it as it was meant to be played :)

Iusedtobeanadventurer, w Weekly what have you been playing discussion - week of September, 18, 2023

I’ve been playing Prey. Just finished replaying Dishonored a few weeks ago, which led to playing dishonored 2 and death of the outsider. So, I was feeling a stealth sim and decided that after several years of owning the game I should give it a shot. It’s been fun so far.

CorrodedCranium,
@CorrodedCranium@leminal.space avatar

Have you ever played Prey from 2006?

Iusedtobeanadventurer,

No! Didn’t even know about it even though I’ve been gaming since 85

CorrodedCranium,
@CorrodedCranium@leminal.space avatar

It’s interesting. It’s more of a linear adventure game that doesn’t really give you a ton of wiggle room but it’s got a pretty unique story that combines well with some gameplay mechanics. I also really liked the visuals.
