trolololol, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

I’m not even bothering opening the article, the rant is for the channel or whatever the room is called in Lemmy

It’s a good time to blacklist this news source.

hperrin, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

Oh boy. That’s a headline. A ridiculous, awful headline.

acockworkorange,

Definitely of the headlines of all time.

Etterra, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

That’s a confusing headline. Let’s make it better:

Mars Spiders Swarm Inca City!

Voroxpete, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

“Ziggy played guitar…”

niktemadur, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

Scientists baffled! (cue image of guys wearing glasses and white labcoats, clipboard in hand, ready to take notes at the drop of a pin)

“Uncanny” - said an unnamed, top researcher at the institute.
“Eerie” - said another.

Meuzzin, w Hundreds of black 'spiders' spotted in mysterious 'Inca City' on Mars in new satellite photos

They really expect us to believe this shit!? Those are definitely large alien spiders that are coming to the surface to mate and multiply as they prepare to attack Earth. I need to join up with United Citizen Federation, quick. I suggest you all do the same…

  • ChicoSuave,

I think you answered your own question.

shortwavesurfer, w Laser on NASA's Psyche asteroid probe beams data from 140 million miles away

Okay, that’s really cool and 25 megabits per second is actually very good compared to what they get back from other probes. At speeds like that, they could send back 4k pictures, which would be extremely high resolution for craft like this.

Daxtron2, w Webb captures iconic Horsehead Nebula in unprecedented detail

I always love seeing the telltale Webb diffraction spikes. Great new pictures.

Existential crisis about how every narrow image shows 100,000x the amount of matter and bodies that I already can’t conceptualize from just our own galaxy

fubarx, w Biologists Find Mutated and Genetically Distinct Strains of Multi-Drug Resistant Bacterium on ISS

    Immortal Super Space Bugs!

awwwyissss, w Biologists Find Mutated and Genetically Distinct Strains of Multi-Drug Resistant Bacterium on ISS

    This is fine 😬

tate, w Long ago, a lake on Mars might have been sprawling with microbes

    That’s not what “sprawling” means.

I know it’s in the article headline and OP is likely not the author, but it’s impossible to give feedback on space.com so I’m leaving it here from frustration.

Bob_Robertson_IX, w Vera Rubin's Primary Mirror Gets its First Reflective Coating

What a great article! Very informative and easy to read.

The telescope sounds cool too! An 8.5 meter mirror?! And it’s designed to be able to recoat it over time!

Gotta say Astronomers being linked up through the internet is a powerful thing esp when we can combine our images
