This is why his videos about this issue are great, he dismantles every single argument against it like “just buy physical”, The Crew has physical versions, they won’t work just like the digital one.
He just likes driving around and nothing more, it’s his podcast/tourism game, but also the perfect one since it happened after he started this fight for preservation and it’s not sold as service but as a product, unlike MMOs.
Yeah, no one is arguing games shouldn’t have online, just that they continue to work after the devs are done with them, have an End of Life plan like the late Avengers game, or the gacha Megaman X Dive that got an offline version sold on steam and consoles.
Since it’s free they were never sold to you as product, their asses are covered on this one, you can make an arguement for Elder Scrolls Online, Black Desert Online (I bought this one, I have the receipt to prove it) and Guild Wars 2 since they use the b2p model with an optional subscription. Car licensing can only prevent ubisoft to sell the game, it’s not required for them to shut it down and render your copy unusable.
Just played it through gamepass, it’s incredible how a survival game is much better when you have these pals to help out and don’t have to do everything yourself, I bet this game will get very factorio-like down the line.
I’m glad they were looking at Anniversary and Legends instead of the reboot by square enix for the modern version of controls, loved those games on PS2.
His take was a breath of fresh air coming from reading askagamedev blog for years, where he said that you should pay 150 bucks for a used videogame from 30 years ago instead of pirating.
I don’t think a single publisher platform has any future, AAA games are taking longer and longer to make, there’s no benefit to stay subbed when you can go months without a new game, compared to gamepass that has deals with other devs and publishers so there’s new things to play every month.
I already saved a lot of money just by playing cocoon, jusant and like a dragon Gaiden in the last months since games in Brazil are 10x more expensive than a gamepass sub, and can’t wait for the Persona 3 Remake.
I’m glad fromsoftware goes against these predatory trends and only announced elden ring’s DLC way after the game was already out, doesn’t matter what you say or what execs think, announcing a DLC before the game is even out leaves a sour taste in the consumer’s mouth.
I recently played Alien Isolation, and I noticed all of the “hacking” she does on doors and computers are different types of games, like press the button at the right time, or match the images within a timer, etc....
The host club manager minigame in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2, I don’t even remember their rewards, just that they were very fun. Compared to the real state minigame in 0 that was so boring I only remember the prize at the end, at least it was worth it
spoilerYou got Kyriu’s original fighting style as a 4th one that breaks the game with a fanservice scene that references the cover art of the first game.
I always found the GTA ones pretty lackluster, even bowling was more fun in the Yakuza games. The videogame arcades and consoles in San Andreas were the only ones that I had fun.
I already skipped the ps4 and instead built a PC, as you can see from my avatar Sony doesn’t have anything to offer me anymore since japanese third parties started porting everything to PC and they closed down japan studio.
Also the PC version is often not censored or at least has a patch.
What a shame, Embracer really seemed like they would bring about a new age of games with free radical and all, but since the 2 billion fell through they are dismantling everything to stay afloat, I’m now afraid we will never get that Deus Ex Mankind Divided sequel.
So you just need to wait 10 seconds after the tittle screen before entering a match? Why don’t just show the user that it’s validating their skins or something?
New Vegas fits this bill, even quests with “happy” endings leave a sour taste in your mouth, or you putting everyone equally in a shitty situation because you abstained from choosing who to favor. Outer Worlds from the same devs has some quests like this, but the main quest itself is very obviously good people vs evil mega corp.
Games are an art form like any other, I don’t see people complaining there’s too many songs or too many movies, and it’s easier than ever to make one thanks to all the free engines, hobbyists make something, push it to itch.io and move on with their lives.
It is hardly incumbent on copyright owners, however, to challenge each and every actionable infringement. And there is nothing untoward about waiting to see whether an infringer’s exploitation undercuts the value of the copyrighted work, has no effect on the original work, or even complements it. Fan sites prompted by a book or film, for example, may benefit the copyright owner. See Wu, Tolerated Use, 31 Colum. J. L. & Arts 617, 619–620 (2008).
To be fair, every studio is 2 bombs away from bankruptcy, hell MeMeMe games shut down even though they didn’t make a single bad game since shadow tactics. Both gacha and live service are constant cashflows that keep a company alive during hard times, just like Final Fantasy XIV kept Square going, and granblue is keeping Cygames going while they invest the surplus on more prestige games.

I finally bought Skyrim Anniversary on the latest discount and was pleasantly surprised how stable it is compared to classic, I remember trying to mod the original one but I only got a buggy mess that didn’t even open most of the time and constantly CTDs.
But after a friend said how stable it is I dipped in after playing through his share of Special Edition, I was able to reach 100 mods and the game had a stable framerate and no crashes, so I bought the AE version since a mod I wanted to use required it and I’m having a blast now with 200 mods as an unarmed Monk.
During the valve panel on Tokyo Game Show, Harada from tekken said that the deck is now the main target for optimization for them, since it’s basically a console just not locked down.
This is almost unheard of, I can only think of Project 1999 that is a classic Everquest 1 private server that also got a blessing from the owner. Meanwhile Ragnarok ones have an average lifespan of 2 years before gravity take them down.
The news comes years after the eldritch horror maker’s dispute with publisher Nacon began. In 2020, the studio pulled The Sinking City from all stores, accusing Nacon of missing payments, holding back €1 million in royalties, and claiming IP rights to the game – something the studio insisted had always belonged to it....
This year I was recommended Terra Nil, a “reverse city builder” as the developer Free Lives call it in the store page. From screenshots and what gameplay I did see of it, my mind raced to games like SimCity 3000 and the potential of destroying a run down, or decaying city and returning it to nature....
I was playing it before 1.0, it surprised me how fun Daggerfall can be after the initial dungeon since it’s so damn hard do die there, also tried to do character creation cheesing I read in the wiki but it didn’t work since they did fix the bugs lol.
I only stopped playing because since it wasn’t finished my main quest didn’t advance after 30 days in the route I was in. I recommend the DREAM mod to get some high quality textures.
It’s not just GTA V, there’s also references to Bully 2, and Rockstar has been all hands on deck for their open world mega games since V blew up, last month a former employee talked about how Agent was cancelled for being a distraction from GTA.
