It sounds a little novel if nothing else, I hope it picks up :-)

Man, all business/capitalism/personality-politics stuff aside, it must suck to be a developer, artist, writer, actor etc on something for years, pour your heart into it for a solid percentage chunk of your remaining lifespan on this Earth, and then have it fall flat.

Especially if it’s not so much the thing you made, but stuff outside of your control that’s holding it back. Lacklustre marketing for example - I hadn’t even heard of this.

When I was 15 that would have been the coolest shit!

Not to say it’s not still cool, my capacity for joy and wonder at the novelty of crossovers has just faded over time is all.

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

Those bastar… Wait what?

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

It’s still a win thankfully as you say, especially given that for me at least we’d be meeting in a European court.

Though in general I hope I never have to take valve to court, period. Honestly if that happens something REALLY bad must have gone down haha.

Like a steam deck checking its phone while driving and running over my kids or something.

You can make any graph look bad if you control the axis bounds weirdly like this.

Not that I have good things to say about ubisoft, but at a glance one would assume their stock value plummeted to zero, which is not the case.

UPDATE: Here is the final design of the Humorless Toaster, that this wonderful community helped me pick yesterday! (Needless to say one of the previous versions was unintentionally problematic) (lemmy.world) angielski

This final solution is much better than the previous attempts, 10/10 very cool toaster

Most of these design decisions look like they were made to make the game incredibly bland and safe for a 5 year old to play.

Are you an outlaw or are you a big cuddly bear?

Who is this made for?

Put in my application for the beta last night, and grabbed Walker Patreon today :-)

I really love the vibes of this project, as someone who loves walking and needs to walk more, and someone who struggles with ADHD, and I’ve always loved RuneScape, this project calls to me haha.

I feel like my character was getting more exercise than me back then, I remember I used to spend a lot of time at the guild coal mine (with those bats), so much time that this is seared into my memory…

Welcome to RuneScape.

You swing your pick at the rock.

Why would you need an account to play a single player, non cloud hosted game?

This was the game where I couldn’t figure out how to fly the space ship properly, and then I went to land on a strange abandoned space station and couldn’t figure out what to do there beyond reading some alien text that didn’t make much sense, right?

I’m sure I didn’t give it a fair lick, it’s just it took up 2 hours of my time and didn’t hook or particularly engage me up to that point, so I didn’t feel like going back in and slogging through the slow burn to get to the good stuff.

That’s on me I suppose, I should try it again!

Does it pick up and get a little more interesting and robust, at least? I’m not looking for hardcore shooter action, but like, I dunno, interesting people, engaging quests and cool places to go whilst doing them, and such. Something to keep me interested, you know?

Everyone’s different, of course, walking simulators with the occasional small bit of world building text to read just aren’t for me is all.

Shadows of Doubt - Release Date Announce Trailer (September 26th v1.0 and consoles) (www.youtube.com) angielski

This one’s been in early access for a while, but it’s finally hitting 1.0. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a procedurally generated murder mystery immersive sim. A murder happens, you scan for evidence, track people by their address in the phone book, and make connections with red string yourself. When I played the demo a...

I am going to bang on so many apartment doors until the old lady that lives inside doddles over to answer and when I hear the key rattling in that lock I will flying kick that door off the hinges, blasting her unconscious, so thar I can take everything out of her wallet and her safe.

What was that? Is she a suspect? …Suspect in what? Hey did you see my cool apartment? I can afford a new sofa now!

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

Hell yeah, it’s was magnificent, and the expansions were better than the OC!

What news of the Waterdhavian creatures?!

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

I already have a Steam account, I’m not giving yet another company my details and login data just to play a game on a platform I already have an account for. Nope.

Incredible Mark Hamill Cult Classic Lands On 4K Blu-Ray This Summer

I come to Lemmy to get away from frustratingly annoying titles that intentionally miss out a key piece of information - in this case the title of the film or TV show the article is about - to trick people into loading the page, only to find is a film they’ve already seen or don’t care about or whatever.

I just ignore headlines like this now and move on, don’t give them what they want - clicks.

Remedy acquires full rights to the Control franchise from 505 (www.destructoid.com) angielski

Today, on February 28, nearly five years after Control’s initial launch, Remedy Entertainment, the team behind the Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control series, released an announcement regarding a deal between them and 505 Games, detailing a full transition to Remedy acquiring full rights to the franchise. While Remedy...

Now you listen here, Sins only came out a couple of years ago in 2012, that was what, …5 years ago? See, not so bad!

(Side note Sins is fantastic and I hope once the new one is out of early access that it will be a similarly fantastic game)

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

but how do I play the games on my old TV, that’s the only place I watch netflix.

You know what would be amazing? If we had a time machine in flight sim thay let us fly over reasonably accurate recreations of towns and cities throughout history, imagine flying over flanders fields, or London in the 1700s!

(My keyboard autocorrected ‘flight sim’ to ‘douche son’ I don’t know why my god)

Yeah I was real confused, I’ve not listened to the podcast but how would Jeff even know?

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

Are they? I know CBS used to own them both but GB got sold on a few years ago, around the time the Giant Bomb guys left (Vinny, Brad, Jeff Gerstmann, etc).

Either way, I’m confused as to how a simple guess from Grubb could be constituted as actual sourced news. What an odd article.

I’ve been trying out Rimworld for the first time!

Raiders sure are delicious, and their skin makes such comfy armchairs!

I don’t see what people have against Epic, they’re just another company running a storefront, right? Or are they union busters or something?

Any competition that can take on Stream’s monopoly is good, it’s been a long time coming.

You might think Steam are the good guys because they don’t abuse their customers yet, but all good things come to an end, eventually. A company with their level of monopolistic grasp doesn’t remain benign forever.

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

Is Epic taking them to court or such?

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

Unity being run by those mental Christian Fundamentalist Americans now?

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

It’s a major historically cross platform franchise, for one thing.

The Activision Blizzard merger and the UK’s serious reservations about Microsoft’s monopoly makes this news even more important.

Should this game be restricted to Microsoft platforms and not include the Sony platform , it would show that they are lying about being well intentioned and non monopolistic.

obinice,
@obinice@lemmy.world avatar

They’re gonna delete my game without giving me a refund? Fuck them.

For those who don’t want to read the article to know what this has to do with Smurfs:

Smurf accounts are alternate accounts used by players to avoid playing at the correct MMR, to abandon games, to cheat, to grief, or to otherwise be toxic without consequence.
