Why Do People Still Play Destiny 2? angielski

With the release of “The Final Shape,” the main storyline has concluded, and it seems like the developers are now just churning out random content and seasonal passes without a clear direction for the game’s future. I’m genuinely curious about what motivates players to stick around. Are there aspects of the game that...

intensely_human,

I play games for the gameplay, don’t really care about story.

I haven’t played Destiny in a while but if I did it would be for the same reason a person keeps buying new sudoku books: I like solving the puzzles that the levels represent.

I think Destiny is cool in that it’s co-op and you can encounter other players and temporarily team up with them.

I really wish we had the computing power to make a game that was basically massively coop Halo: one big war against the Covenant that everyone can fight in on the side of Humanity.

Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song delayed indefinitely on Xbox as dev says it's being ignored by Microsoft (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

As spotted by Windows Central, though, Jyamma CEO Jacky Greco later went into additional detail on Discord. Following a community manager’s statement dismissing speculation the studio had been “paid by Sony”, Greco shared his own frustrations relating to the delay. “You can ask Xbox why they haven’t answered us for two...

This is a bad marketing photo because it takes way too long to realize it’s an image of a coastline or something. It looks like the reflection off a glossy and warped screen.

RuneScape is increasing their membership price by 50%, and Reddit is trying to censor it angielski

Runescape is jacking up their subscription prices next month, going from like 12 bucks to 14 bucks a month. The increases range from 20% to 56% in price depending on currency. Players are PISSED about it especially since the company got bought out by some investment firm earlier this year, and they see it as a shameless cash...

Before we play, we’re doing a round table on how Unreal Tournament encourages Unrealistic body expectations and discourages those who aren’t Stronger, Faster, Better.

Voluntary attendance at the round table is mandatory. But it’s a good thing because we’re making the world a better place.

Day 41 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (Sea of Thieves) (lemmy.world) angielski

I was playing Sea of Thieves with some friends today. Game bugged out or something because they started rendering as skeletons instead of their avatars. So i guess i have my own literal skeleton crew now

Wow Sea of Thieves has added quite a bit of new content since I last played

It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation angielski

Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It’s true they’ve always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I...

Valve lifts NDA on Deadlock, streaming and talking about the game is now allowed. angielski

Not sure where the official announcement of this happened, but videos and discussions of the game are now finally allowed. The game is still invite-only, but expect to start seeing it all over the place now. Popular streamers are already jumping into it....

intensely_human,

So Valve specializes in controlling the rate of release?

intensely_human,

Or just stand in a room with fluorescent lights and move their eyes

I’d say 1 FPS is the minimum for an FPS game 🤷

Can anyone suggest some good co-op games for two people? angielski

Hello all! My buddy and I finally finished up Baldur’s Gate 3 this week and we are not left with a giant co-op game shaped whole in our hearts. It was such an incredible experience and it was truly even more fun running through it together. We are excited to hop into another game, but we have no idea what to play. We’ve...

intensely_human,

Sea of Thieves.

My recommendation for two people is a Brigantine, just for challenge.

You’ll fight better in a Sloop, but a Brigantine is more fun to operate for two people.

intensely_human,

Get your friend to buy it and play it at his place

intensely_human,

Gaming is not the most refined form of play. The most refined form of play is unstructured, spontaneous, and uses imagination. Gaming is the opposite of that. It is essentially a grim struggle to perform at one’s best in a 100% defined environment and ruleset.

I’m a gamer. Mad respect for gaming. I use it to achieve flow and improve the precision and skill of my brain.

But I don’t really consider it “playing” in the sense that puppies and little kids play.

intensely_human,

That hatred comes from like 0.1% of gamers, if that.

intensely_human,

I see three comments, two of which mention wokeness and one of which mentions sending the dev team to re-education camp.

None of the comments is solely about wokeness. Wokeness is mentioned in conjunction with politics.

One of the comments wants to make sure the game stays “neutral”.

Note that zero of these comments are complaining about diversity. To those who criticize wholeness, it is a distinct thing from diversity.

Do you know what people are referring to when they use that word?

intensely_human,

Also everyone who participates in the narrative that “regressive are swamping the gaming industry”.

intensely_human,

Well yeah. The vast majority of people identify as male or female.

When the game goes to “body type A and body type B” they are erasing those people’s opportunity to feel represented in the game.

Diversity does not mean removing options for a person to feel represented.

This is an excellent example of where the concepts of “woke” and “diverse” not only differ but are in opposition to one another.

intensely_human,

The sounds are also worse. Halo 1 had bass, sounded badass.

Halo 1 sounded like using automatics and shotguns and off-road gas guzzlers to battle armor-clad plasma-wielding aliens.

Halo 2 sounded like whoopie cushions going off and alumunum cans being crushed. It was just less of a visceral feel. pttt pttt!

intensely_human,

But it was less tuned. Halo 1 was BB King, Halo 2 is Papa Roach

intensely_human,

Well it’s definitely both

intensely_human,

pathetic

intensely_human,

I fucking love playing as the odd man out. This makes me want to play fortnight and go run rampant in the cybertruck like john wick.

Now all I need is skill

intensely_human,

Speaking of this, I hate the fact that farcry just stuck with the farcry 3 format.

Farcry 2 had none of this “tag an enemy to make them always visible” bullshit. But then they did 3, and that was just their settled format from there on out.

intensely_human,

That’s the game. It’s the most emotionally compelling stealth game I’ve ever played. The tension is real.

They managed to make a game about piracy where the players actually care about the stakes.

intensely_human,

If only Bourne had said this to Marie

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

intensely_human,

Generally speaking it’s impossible to define a standard for how much output is “enough” for a developer.

Management always wants to extract as much as possible.

intensely_human,

IP stands for “intellectual property” as far as I know, and copyright is one form of that

intensely_human,

I mean if the way you get there is by modifying the thing, then it’s a mod.

Modding is to speciation as counterfitting is to convergent evolution.

intensely_human,

It’s his piercing eyes

intensely_human,

No, art is not for thinking. Books are for thinking. Art is for experiencing.

intensely_human,

No, it’s not. The prerequisite to creating valuable art is ability, not some stance toward intellectualizing visceral media.

intensely_human,

One of my favorite lines ever

intensely_human,

Sure yeah, thinking afterward is great. Just like you can think about sex, music, food, etc.

Just don’t stand there thinking “What am I supposed to be thinking about with this one?”

If an artist’s message is so small it can be put into words, they should just tack a notecard to the wall.

I have a level that is a tribute to The Stanley Parable in my game, here is my progress. Any feedback? (lemmy.world) angielski

My game is called Do Not Press The Button (To Delete The Multiverse) and in it I have a multiverse called A Universe Where This Game Was Made By People With Actual talent and it’s a “What If” the Crow Crows Crows guy made my game. I think it’s turning out good. What do you think? Here is my Steam Page

Put some floating shelves above the cabinets to break up that vertical space. You can put some knick knacks up there.
