I’ve played maybe 10 hours total of Overwatch 2 and it is incredibly boring (to me). But it seems to get lots of updates often, heavy monetization which sucks. The steam reviews are scalding. It really makes me wonder… is it that bad? Like really? It’s hard to gauge if the game is thriving or on deaath’s door…
Look at Reddit, Twitter, Discord, Facebook, etc. Consumers cry and complain but they almost never leave. That always leads to perpetually-increasing exploitation.
So yes, its that bad, and no, its not on death’s door.
With the release of “The Final Shape,” the main storyline has concluded, and it seems like the developers are now just churning out random content and seasonal passes without a clear direction for the game’s future. I’m genuinely curious about what motivates players to stick around. Are there aspects of the game that...
You can’t even play without spending hours scrolling Reddit and Twitter to figure out WTF is even going on. Eventually I was spending more time reading about the game than playing it and that’s when I quit. Since then Reddit and Twitter have become an absolute dumpster fire so I was even more glad I quit when I did.
You know what f2p means to me? It means you can play the game for free but the experience is guaranteed to be miserable because you’re going to have relentless ads crammed down your throat for skins and other bullshit I couldn’t give a single fuck about, and no matter how much you pay it never stops.
So if it’s between that and just paying $30 for the game, I’ll take the $30 every time. I avoid f2p games like the plague.
I never watched any of those shows, but I remember watching SpongeBob and seeing how it was full of many types of humor, some of it adult but also presented in a way that kids just wouldn’t understand. So there was “something for everyone” and part of why it was so popular/successful.
And AAAA is a reference to that Ubisoft exec. It doesn’t have any other meaning, so now it’s obviously just satire for a shitty game that the publisher is overconfident in and wants to charge too much money for (they were trying to defend the $70 price at the time).
Since I’m a WoW addict, naturally I’m a Blizzard fan, of sorts. But my mind is blown every time I see anything from Call of Duty on the launcher. I’ve been really out of the loop, and recently saw this… and I’m shocked. You have to BUY the game for “open beta access”, like how does that make any sense? Also, the...
It’s nothing to do with the quality of the game. It’s to do with obscene pricing, a shitty experience, and a general enshittification of the gaming experience that people are financially supporting.
No? I’m quite literally not. Put BG3 in a dedicated buggy-ass launcher, slap some DRM on it, some bullshit kernel-level anti-cheat, fill it with bugs and sell it for $70 and people will complain about it, too, even though it’s a really good game.
you can’t blame Ubisoft alone for this
I’m not and I don’t. Don’t know where you got that idea.
Tastes differ.
This has nothing to do with “taste”. It has to do with anti-consumer shitfuckery.
Amazon still does that dumb shit where they allow them to sell a dozen different products on the same listing. And the names are all mislabeled so I don’t even know what product I’m looking at.
It’s a handheld PC with a built-in controller. I don’t know how you can say that it’s not a competitor. Plenty of people are happy to deal with Windows for whatever reason. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it not a competitor.
If I wanted to make an argument for why it’s not, I’d say it’s because it doesn’t matter what hardware you have, they’re all going to be used to buy games on Steam.
I never played this game but I watched gameplays on youtube and I must say without insulting someone who like it that I don’t like it because it looks like unfinished game to me compared to other games in terms of graphics.
I didn’t buy it because Denuvo and Tencent (its already been repacked by fitgirl) but my brother did and he’s in my steam family. He’s played it for 18 hours already so I haven’t even had a chance to dive into it but it looks good. Ill try to report back later.
Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It’s true they’ve always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I...
I was just looking at Valve’s publishing history. Their catalog is super small, only releasing games every few years. Aperture desk job was amazing (even if very short and sweet). I don’t have VR but Half Life:Alyx was also very well received. Recent evidence suggests there will be a HL3 sometime in the near future.
Do I wish Valve would invest more of the unfathomable amount of money they’re making into producing excellent games? Absolutely.
Am I going to hold it against them if some of the games they make are money-printing machines? Not really.
There are alternative stores on Android since forever.
I’ve already addressed this in other replies below. This goes beyond the existence of app store and into the abusive nature of them. Here’s some light reading for you.
Opening a secondary store on Android was always an option.
You’re just repeating yourself. Number go up, I guess?
30% they claim is abusive is the industry standard
Your parents should have taught you when you were 5 that just because other people are doing it doesn’t make it okay.
Epic lost their lawsuit against Apple
Well the EU picked up where the US failed. That’s why they have an app store. But Epic continues the fight regardless. As mentioned elsewhere, they won their lawsuit against Google with the state of California stating Google’s app store is indeed a monopoly. Epic is responsible for both.
as a result of DMA which has nothing to do with Epic.
Highly doubt that that is a coincidence. It has everything to do with Epic.
Apple is now an option regardless of what Epic did.
You’re repeating yourself again.
Conclusion, Epic’s lawsuit has nothing to do with this announcement.
I don’t need a link to the DMA. I’ve known about it since before it existed. If you think it is coincidence that it was created shortly after the Epic v Apple lawsuit while addressing the exact same problem, your logic has failed you. Still waiting on your source.
A bit hypocritical given you’ve been the one using “coincidence” as a source.
I don’t think you understand the meaning of “hypocritical”.
you can’t go around spouting “facts” because you find the timing too coincidental.
I never said it was a “fact”. Just an incredibly obvious observation.
there is not any documented proof for what you are saying
Nor is there any for what you’re saying. Proof for either doesn’t exist but only an irrational person is going to look at the correlation staring you in the face and say it’s a coincidence (which is in fact what you’re doing, BTW).
I just got invited to a Steam Family and got a couple hundred new games so…a lot!
Lonely Mountains Downhill not a big fan of this one.
Elden Ring - only for a few minutes but excited to start this one.
Dead Space - played quite a bit of this one. Controls and vantage points are frustrating but it runs using about the same amount of energy as Hollow Knight on Steam Deck (~8W), which is quite impressive.
My Friend Pedro - Also a REALLY good and fun game with frustrating controls. Kinda like a modern side-scrolling Max Payne.
Doom + Doom II - I think I bought this a long time ago as a DOOM “package” or whatever you call the sets on Steam. I can’t do it LOL it’s just bad. The new music tracks are excellent though.
Deadpool - Absolutely excellent 10/10 fun game to play but you can’t buy it anymore. I’m sure you can pirate it somewhere.
The “buy” button (or any similar verbiage) needs to go away (unless the provider intends for it to be available forever) and replaced with “rent for x years”.
EA game should be reason enough not to buy this game.
Requires EA launcher
Requires EA DRM
Requires linked EA account
No offline mode, even for single player
You couldn’t pay me to play this game. If you buy this game, you forfeit the right to ever complain about this bullshit because you’re actively encouraging it.
This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

Except you don’t find out the devs/publishers released a broken game until after you buy it. Which is like, way too common. You can direct your frustrations to the publishers who insist on pushing out broken games and fixing them later.
