haui_lemmy,

Great thinking. It wont ever happen though because that would be sOcIaLiSm.

haui_lemmy,

Great text. Thanks for writing it. Fully agree.

haui_lemmy,

Device remote bricked in 3…2…1

haui_lemmy,

Yes. Welcome to late stage capitalism.

haui_lemmy,

What do you mean? The game was a huge success.

haui_lemmy,

Which one was the most recent? I always mix up the last two. But yes, generally. The last one is still a buggy mess, sadly. Cyberpunk is not btw.

haui_lemmy,

Thats a fallacy. You’re essentially saying because one company was able to fix their shit, the systemic problem isnt real. Thats not the case. Look at the broader picture. Companies are consolidating, building massive conglomerates and the market is hostile towards its customers.

haui_lemmy,

Yeah, sadly. It has big crashing issues. feel free to check.

haui_lemmy,

Thats what I’m saying too. The reason they released it in the state they did was market pressure and most likely bad decisions in an abusive capitalist system. Thats the reason why I said it initially.

haui_lemmy,

Its capitalism. Individuals will not change this. Systemic problems need systemic solutions. First step is outlawing centralization of capital and putting back legislation against large corporations. But good luck doing that in the US.

haui_lemmy,

Honestly, at this point the company should be dismantled and the leadership thrown in prison. These corporate edgelords wont learn. They will just overstep, inch by inch and the courts will understate their deeds over and over until there is only one company that rules the world and sell you your fucking liver by the minute.

Dismantle this pile of shit.

haui_lemmy,

Listen, I want to dismantle a LOT of companies that are a thousand times bigger than this.

so if your concern for workplaces is so much higher than for people getting systematically fucked and not that rarely lose everything - even their lives - you’re gonna get real unhappy.

This system is fucked, stop defending it.

haui_lemmy,

Adhd, the game on the switch is called adhd. :D

haui_lemmy,

Care to enlighten us?

haui_lemmy,

Thats the spirit. Fuck nintendo.

haui_lemmy,

Apple has reportedly sued people trying to figure out the communication protocols and chips on hardware those people own.

Aside from the specific hackintosh problem, apple is no better.

haui_lemmy,

And you dont find it weird that not all companies in japan go bankrupt because they have to literally claw back devices after sale to keep their patents? I know us autists can get stuck on ideas easily but do you see how their behavior is overzealous at best and this explanation being plain apologist bs at worst?

haui_lemmy,

I mean, you do advertise that you’re perpetually angry but youre just rude and disrespectful. Your vague reproaches arent anything to work with, in case you really didnt know that. It like screaming "do your own research’ when certain groups are unhappy with science. Thats not how people function, it is ableist and unbecoming. Please do better.

haui_lemmy,

I suspect (and hope) that you are just unable to see it differently and cant try to view it from a different perspective. But it still is not healthy to behave this way. Please seek help.

haui_lemmy,

Better yet: how do we fastly bankrupt nintendo?

haui_lemmy,

Two things can be true at once:

  1. valve so far took tremendous care of the people using their product. They have outclassed afaik every other billion dollar company in the world in terms of listening to their customers and not exploiting them to hell (as others do).
  2. billionaire companies are cancer. If gabe ever gives up valve (through death or whatever), we are at the mercy of a monopolist that can extract as much as they want.

My conclusion: force companies to behave like valve does now, but forever. Let them make money without exploiting people. And in case if valve: break any monopoly.

Down with shareholder value.

haui_lemmy,

That would be a great solution. Another would be to put quotas of employees, customers, owners and the community (people living around a plant for example) in there. Just an idea though.

haui_lemmy,

I know this is going to backfire: gamepass is convenient but every person subscribing fuels the toxic „rentseeking culture“ of capitalists worldwide. Some would say that its much better to pirate than to use this shit. Besides: it is technologically subpar and surely privacy invasive.

haui_lemmy,

I would agree if there wasnt a giant hole in your reasoning.

Once you stopped paying, „your“ library evaporated. It isnt that you rent out individual games. You have whole libraries built just from that.

And please dont go into the „gamers responsibility“. Thats an ableist view. Lots of gamers are underage and/or unable to make basic decisions especially against dark patterns and social pressure. Education and laws to limit exposure to this toxic stuff needs to happen, period.

Would "suggest price" be a positive option for steam? angielski

I just looked at a game that is 60€ and said “I dont think its worth that and would buy now for 30, just to check it out”. Then I had the idea that some publishers/devs might benefit from knowing that 1-100000 people think that the game is worth X and would buy now for that price right now. In a case like today, the...

haui_lemmy,

There actually already is steamdb which does that exact thing. The reason I suggested it is because probably all would benefit from it.

haui_lemmy,

That would be neat as well. :) thanks for sharing.

haui_lemmy,

Exactly my thought. Thank you for pointing that out.

haui_lemmy,

What part do you feel is horrible? I enjoyed playing it a lot.

haui_lemmy,

What happens is that I get rubberbanding (I go somewhere, build something, get set back like 30 seconds and my stuff is not built), loosing my connection like once every two hours or something. My wife plays with me and has similar issues.

The logs sometimes show „tick took longer than anticipated“ or something, which would indicate a performance issue but since the cpu and the ram arent even used properly, I assume it might be limited somehow.

haui_lemmy,

Hmmm… that makes sense. I‘ll check. Thank you for the suggestion.

haui_lemmy,

Xeon 4 core, 4 threads, 16 G DDR4 ram, onboard graphics.

haui_lemmy,

E3 1220v3 3.5 ghz

haui_lemmy,

I’m monitoring the cpu and ram and so far the server isnt utilizing it except short bursts which dont max out anything. i’ll try and optimize the network first and then go for performance. i suppose its a multi stage issue by now. will update on the matter.

haui_lemmy,

Took me a moment to recognize it. This game is far better with friends imo. Have fun :)

haui_lemmy,

Damn thats a depressing read. Why isnt this shit illegal?

haui_lemmy,

Pure principle is the answer. People who buy a game should be able to play the game as long as they wish, sell it, give it their grandkids for all I care.

The problem with your argument is „doesnt affect me, wont bother“.

Think of anything you like or even love. Now think of it being taken away, because someone else doesnt care about it. You think thats fair?

haui_lemmy,

They‘re probably also gonna wreck the modding community with this as it has been hard to keep up already.

I personally will stay with voxelibre as it is open source and doesnt have telemetry baked in.

Oxenfree is being completely removed from itch.io in October (www.gamingonlinux.com) angielski

Luckily it’s DRM-free. Back up your installers. I wanted to call attention to this, because in a very unusual move, it’s being removed even for people who own a copy, whereas usually stores will only remove a game from sale and still host the files for existing owners to download.

haui_lemmy,

I‘m somewhat sure the person who made the trailer will make a version of the film out of pure spite that works exactly like this and its going to be the best thing ever, maybe even shaking the movie industry.

haui_lemmy,

Have you seen the blender movie? Its quite short but you dont need any equipment to make good animated movies anymore. Its all there.

haui_lemmy,

Since you‘re on the fediverse already, consider peertube. It still needs work in discoverability but from a data ownership perspective its pretty top notch.

haui_lemmy,

Yeah, thats what we call a trade off. The large userbases are on the bad platforms and the good platforms have small userbases.

Until people start at least mirror their stuff on (eg) peertube, we wont see increase in userbase.

For that reason, if I planned to interact with a large audience, I would go to twitch, no two ways about it, but mirror on peertube so it gets a chance to grow.

There is no free lunch. We have to put in work if we want to see positive change.

haui_lemmy,

Cool idea. Thanks for chiming in. :) i appreciate it

haui_lemmy,

Thats pretty awesome! :) thanks for sharing. Do you know by any chance if kodi has a steam app somewhere? I‘m going with a raspberry pi and it works well as a client for media but not yet for steam.
