I still don’t really know what it is. Because it seems to have random generation so that makes me think it’s just going to be another no man’s sky.
The big problem with randomly generating a bazillion planets is they’re all boring. Random terrain generation will always result in dull terrain because an algorithm isn’t creative, it’s not even AI level aware, it’s just maths.
Never ever ever buy a game until after reviews come out. It’s not worth it. It doesn’t matter if it’s from a legendary game studio, they can find all of the developers, they could fire all of the managers, and still be called the same thing. The name is no guarantee of anything.
Pre-ordering games had a point back when they were mostly physical, because if you didn’t, you ran the risk of them running out. Although I didn’t pre-order GTA V, and just walked into a game store on the day of release and bought two copies, so since then I’ve rather been of the opinion that even with physical products, it’s probably not very likely they’re going to run out.
But now everything’s digital there’s 100% no reason to pre-order. Make them make the actual product they claimed to have made.
I would be very sceptical about a 2024 release date. Unless it’s really late 2024 like November or December.
Rockstar like to drum up a huge amount of hype about their games by having about a 6 month long dramfest before release. Remember how many videos were on YouTube back before the release of GTA V. I can still remember them I can still remember how they would have a video all about how you could play golf or tennis (Which is really boring and no one plays).
If we haven’t even got word of a announcement about an announcement yet I’ll be sceptical that we’re going to see it this side of the next 12 months. If they’d started talking about it by now then sure maybe we’d get it in 2024 but they haven’t even done that yet.
Words have meaning, and that meaning is defined by common understanding. If a significant percentage of the population does not know what a word means, (and I mean a significant percentage not just some people) then it’s fair to say the word is essentially nonsense.
The problem is sometimes people pick a word and then decide on its meaning but then neglect to inform the rest of the human population - see Woke. That’s not how language works, it’s about mutual acceptance the particular sound or set of sounds means a particular idea or concept or thing. If that mutual acceptance is not there, then it is not a word.
There are many people who would disagree that that is its meaning, and that’s the problem. There is no completely defined meaning for these words, they mean different things to different people so when you say the word I don’t know what meaning is supposed to be interpreted.
I love hearing about unique takes on game mechanics. Someone recently convinced me that limited inventories are kind of abused currently and that unlimited inventory systems would give more player choices.
And that Halo game I can’t remember what it’s called, but there’s an open world Halo game and it’s awful.
The biggest problem in that game, and in general, is the fact that, yeah it’s an open world game, but there isn’t really a lot to do, so you have to run around through the level, which is usually boring, to get to the actual next bit of the game.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they just teleported you to the next bit. Then the open world aspect could be played around with on your terms, but you could also just ignore it if you wanted. But they never do that because they’ve made an open world, and they want you to look at it.
