Kit,

Exactly - People don’t seem to realize that cloud gaming responsiveness only really matters in competitive games and shooters. Turn based games or more casual games run perfectly fine with fast Internet.

Kit,

Don’t forget AGILE. That should solve all of their problems, right?

Kit,

I’m in the same boat. Steam Deck has been a game changer for me and I’m finally working through my library. It’s great to be able to play on the couch with my SO instead of setting aside dedicated game time on the PC.

Kit,

I’ve been playing this on Gamepass and it’s pretty good. Feels like Two Point Hospital with a couple QoL improvements.

Kit,

I don’t think Xbox Series has exclusives. All of their stuff is on PC afaik.

I just learned an interesting piece of gaming history that most people might not know about. (Xbox Live Arcade on original Xbox) angielski

I just learned that Xbox Live Arcade was a service that first started on the original Xbox, not Xbox 360. You had to order a disc online that would let you access the XBLA store. Here’s the wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live_Arcade...

Kit,

I had Xbox Live on the original Xbox but never knew Arcade was a thing on it. This is a pretty neat discovery and I hope some folks can share stories.

Kit,

I have to imagine that it will be similar to when FFXI dropped on Xbox 360 after being a PC/PS2 exclusive for years. At that time, it increased the player base dramatically and introduced an entirely new demographic of player to the mmo. It really breathed new life into the game.

Kit,

DRM-free digital copies that can be backed up to personal storage so access cannot be revoked.

Kit,

Sure, it is as easy as you’re saying. So what’s wrong with someone selling a device that is already configured with the game to people who don’t want to spend the effort to do it themselves? At the end of the day, people spent money that they felt was worthwhile to get a game that they enjoy. It’s the same as people selling Batocera cards on Ebay nowadays.

Kit,

This game is such a great, short experience. Reminds me of Portal in that sense. It really hits you in the feels at several parts. Runs perfectly on the Steam Deck.

Kit,

Just started a Valheim server and beat the first boss last night with my girlfriends. We’ve got room if any queer friendly folks want to join in.

Otherwise I’ve been playing FFVIII and Dave the Diver on Deck.

Kit,

Is it just me or does it seem 3d printed? How cool would it be to just 3d print a playspace like this

Kit,

Name a single merger in any industry that didn’t result in layoffs of at least 8% of the workforce.

Kit,

Anecdotally, I’m in IT and had a brutal time finding a new job. Took nearly 250 applications over 6 months to find something, hated it (65-70 hour weeks without breaks), and applied to another hundred before finding something worthwhile. I’m no newbie - I’ve got over a decade of sysad experience under my belt.

Kit,

Until I can play ZOoTR on my Switch, Steam Deck it is.

What is the next "grown up game" now that Minecraft only goes for children? angielski

When Minecraft came out, it was hard to understand, not that good looking and only really catered to nerd gamers. There was no recipe book, no cute animals, no lush caves to explore, just an unforgiving Day-Night cycle and few, very creepy caves....

Kit,

Life is too short to worry about what people think. If you like the game, play it! That being said, Valheim has an older player base and scratches the same itch.

Kit,

Meh. Don’t we have enough of those in the world? I wish they would stick with making charming, simple, relaxing games.

Kit,

Good. It’s been frustrating to find a good game stream when half of the livestreams are just porn. I might feel differently if it was half naked men.

I got to play Terra Nil, and here is my two cents on it (lemmy.world) angielski

This year I was recommended Terra Nil, a “reverse city builder” as the developer Free Lives call it in the store page. From screenshots and what gameplay I did see of it, my mind raced to games like SimCity 3000 and the potential of destroying a run down, or decaying city and returning it to nature....

Kit,

Terra Nil is definitely a puzzle game and not a reverse city-builder. As a puzzle game, I think it succeeds.

Kit,

I don’t want to watch a video. Is there a written version?

Kit,

What is it in Japanese? Feel free to use Hiragana or Katakana, whichever is accurate

Kit,

Picked up Dave the Diver because everyone keeps saying it’s amazing. Sure enough, it’s addictive and definitely worth the $13. It hits the Stardew Valley type of gameplay loop and has been perfect on Steam Deck. I’ve got about 6 hours into it in 2 days.

I may still grab Marble It Up because I loved Marble Blast Ultra on the 360 back in the day.

Kit,

It would take another decade of development to make this game feel anything less than empty.

Kit,

Microsoft said it will be before the end of the year, so I’m guessing that they’ll shadow drop it during the Game Awards or maybe a day after.

Kit,

I’m running it on a fuckin Steam Deck without issue. The Deck can’t even run Apex without lagging like hell.

Kit,

Nice, more competition will only advance this sector of the gaming market.

Kit,

Hire a cleaner if you can afford it. Then integrate exercise into gaming, like Pokemon Go or high intensity VR games.

Kit,

If your gaming addiction is impacting your self care to that level you need to seek therapy. It will help.

Kit,

Check for low income mental health clinics. They tend to offer counseling and sometimes therapy by volunteers.

Kit,

Nah Starfield is all “So when does the fun begin?”

Kit,

To play devil’s advocate, I suspect that the majority of unauthorized 3rd party devices were designed for cheating versus mobility needs. Microsoft has fantastic accessibility accessories first-party that hopefully will meet the majority of needs.

Kit,

This video was meh. If you want to start enjoying games again, just stop playing multiplayer games and enjoy a single player experience. Maybe something short like Portal.

Kit,

As long as GTA 6 has male strip clubs I’ll be happy.

Final Fantasy 14 Shows Off New Viper Class Alongside Final Fantasy 11 and 16 Crossovers - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

The upcoming Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy 14 will add a new Viper class as well as collaborations with Final Fantasy 11 and 16. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 will be getting an open beta in mid-January or February 2024.

Kit,

Cool, I might renew my sub to check out the FFXI content. I still play XI daily so I’d be curious to see what kind of lore they explore in the crossover.

Kit,

I joined a Linkshell (guild) in FFXI a few months ago and they’ve been great to me. Everyone is always helping one-another and we run weekly events every Saturday night. I don’t have much of a social life in my 30s so it’s been a great time for me to spend time with folks.

Kit,

Yes but the expansions for basic features will still total several hundred.

Kit,

The sad part is that this sets the standard (again) that companies can market the hell out of an unfinished game, release it buggy as hell, and still make an amazing profit. This doesn’t bode well for the future.

Kit,

Will we finally see WoW on consoles?

Kit,

I’m 20 hours in and not having a good time. Feels like I’m forcing myself to play instead of looking forward to it.

It’s just… bland. There’s no memorable characters, no breathtaking worlds, no addictive gameplay loops or memorable story. Just go here, fight pirates, click on one thing, 30 seconds cutscene of talking, repeat.

I really, really want to love Starfield but I just don’t get it.

Kit,

I just grabbed it on Steam for $2! Looking forward to trying it out.

Kit,

I recently watched a Twitch streamer play through all of the Fatal Frame games. It was a wild adventure. I heard that there’s a new Fatal Frame game coming out sometime soon and I’m stoked to check it out.

Kit,

Was the experience you described multiplayer or were those NPCs?
