SgtAStrawberry, w Microsoft has an Xbox Series X/S version of Minecraft in the works

Wasn’t Bedrock supposed to be a catch all platform version? Wasn’t that the reason they removed the other console versions, or am I missing something?

Sethayy,

Its more like windows 10 edition, still bedrock but with ray tracing features

SgtAStrawberry,

I had completely forgotten that Windows 10 didn’t get replaced with bedrock.

Sethayy,

Yeah ngl its the biggest thing I miss about windows vs linux :(

bigpapafatnuts, w Saints Row studio Volition has been closed down "effective immediately"

Deep Silver owns the Saints Row IP so we’ll still probably see games in the future

I sincerely didn’t know broadband Internet data caps were still a thing in 2023

lazycouchpotato, w Microsoft Announces Xbox Credit Card, Includes Game Pass With First Purchase - GameSpot
@lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world avatar

I hope no one is considering this. The bonus is terrible and the earning of points isn’t all that great either.

It doesn’t specify how much 1 point is worth, but I’m guessing it’s 1 cent, so an effective 5% discount on all your Xbox purchases.

If you have a Costco membership you can get a 4-Pack of $25 Xbox gift cards for $80 - a 20% discount.

Katana314,

I find it funny; but I’ve also never seen a point to any of the other kinds of credit cards out there. I just took the one that came with my bank.

@lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, store-branded cards are almost always terrible choices.

M500, w Saints Row studio Volition has been closed down "effective immediately"

I only played saints row 3 and 4. But they were extremely fun games.

Zahille7,

You should go play 1 and 2 if you haven’t.

M500,

I think I started to try and play two a long time ago, but got distracted. Thanks for the advice.

Seems like the reviews are generally positive but they also are kind of all over the place! 🤔

Good decision

lustyargonian, w Microsoft Is Interested In Bringing Trophy-Like Platinum Xbox Achievements

If they can separate main game/dlc/multiplayer/new game+ achievements, that would be great

PeterPoopshit, w Starfield surpasses 6 million players to become Bethesda's best launch yet, beating Skyrim and Fallout

The biggest reason I never got into Skyrim or Fallout is because it’s not in space.

WereCat,

I also want a medieval game in space

riceandbeans161,

unironically, yes. Give me some Peter F Hamilton Void-esque stuff.

stratoscaster,

Y’know that would almost make sense tbh. You wouldn’t want to be tossing grenades or shooting guns inside a spaceship lol

To save everyone a click:

[Baldur’s Gate 3] will also be out on Xbox before the end of 2023. (…) “It’s 2023. And 2023 is narrowing, so it’s already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November… So, as fast as we can honestly,” Vincke said.

Lethtor, w Xbox Game Pass Title 'Sea Of Stars' Is Getting Absolutely Incredible Reviews

Only question is: when the hell am I supposed to play this, this year’s absolutely packed with great games.

TheDarkKnight,

Good problem to have, right there with you. Bangers left and right!

some_designer_dude,

Care to name some? I’m so out of the loop but I love a good game… I usually only dust off my gaming rig for a new FarCry instalment 😬

Piemanding,

For me it would be: Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Remnant 2, Return to Moria, Starfield, this game, Pseudoregalia(10/10), Crab Champions.

some_designer_dude,

Thanks! Not gonna lie, “Crab Champions” jumped out the most in that list but I’ll check out the trailers for all 😜 🦀 💪

Piemanding,

Well all the other roguelikes I play aren’t from the past year so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Lethtor,

Baldur’s Gate III just came out and it’s an absolutely phenomenal RPG

Octopath Traveler II is also a really great RPG

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom came out earlier this year, which was also amazing, though obviously that’s (officially) only on Switch

Final Fantasy XVI was super fun, but that one is a PlayStation 5 exclusive

Then there is Starfield, the big new Bethesda game is space

A new Yakuza (though the series is being renamed to “like a dragon” now) game is coming out later this year as well (it’s a very storied game series though, if you’re not familiar with it, I’d suggest starting with either Yakuza 0 or Judgment)

Early this year there was actually another Like a Dragon game, Like a Dragon: Ishin, which is also great

A new Assassin’s Creed comes out soon as well, which is going back to a more traditional gameplay loop (recent entries were RPG-like, and this is going to be more stealth focused again like AC1-Unity)

Armored Core 6 is supposedly also a really good game where you build your mech to fight big enemies (though I personally don’t know much about that game)

Hi-Fi Rush was a really really good game, it’s a sort of rhythm adventure game where you have to fight in the beat of the music.

Ubisoft is also releasing their Avatar (blue Aliens, not the air bender) game late this year (December if I’m not mistaken), which should scratch your FarCry itch, I’d say.

I’m sure there are more that I either forgot or aren’t necessarily my wheelhouse, but those are the big ones

some_designer_dude,

Awesome rundown — thank you 🙏 I enjoyed the only Assassin’s Creed I played (Egypt one) so a new one coming out is exciting! The Bulder’s Gate game definitely sounds like a hit though I’ve not played many RPGs in the past. Might also check out that rhythm game — sounds like a novel idea for a game, which is always refreshing.

Thanks again!

maybe I pick this up now, never bothered much about Cyberpunk after they botched the launch and it still does not impress me very much…well winter is coming so we will see if it can compete with Baldurs Gate or Guild Wars 2 😅
