LoamImprovement, w The Day Before - A Scam To Remember

Christ Almighty, they used to have to give the first hour of a completed game to us for free, now people are paying to betatest the most dogshit asset flips. How did we get here?

Ashyr, w Creative Assembly apologises for "missteps" with Total War series, offers Pharaoh refunds

From the article, it sounds like their dlc have been overpriced with limited content and Pharaoh just seems bad?

Anyone closer to the issue know what the missteps have been?

Lemonyoda, w Starfield will be getting a bunch of fresh features including "new ways of traveling" next year

Aka the Game releases Feature incomplete in Beta (early Access) Status.

MS gamepass does hinder Quality Games. Same Story for forza Motorsport, redfall and whatnot…

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

This game was originally going to release two years ago without Microsoft making sure it got more QA than Bethesda is known for. Microsoft or not, the game design and feature completeness likely wouldn't have moved an inch.

Hi-Fi Rush, for a counter example, was one of the best games of the year.

Lemonyoda,

I have just looked Into my year on Xbox (and Nintendo Switch…) and it turns out, i played starfield around 50h hours.

So, it did something right regardless. You are probably right those

Ich becomes increasingly frustrating to watch all These big AAA Milestones turn out mediocre.

The AA space is where its at, See your example of Hifi rush.

I would disagree with your 50 hour Starfield assessment, only on the basis of Todd Howards own comment that the game was made to be played for a long time.

50 hours for a game meant to be played for a long time just isn't very long at all. Heck, I enjoyed my time in Starfield and I had more than 50 hours. However I could not continue with NG+, it was just godawful.

For a game meant to be played extensively it failed in most regards.

shiveyarbles, w Link and Zelda's relationship is "up to the player's imagination", Nintendo says

Oh no… that’s a terrible idea

spacecowboy, w House Flipper 2 launches this week, lets you live out the homeownership fantasy

The homeowner fantasy isn’t about buying houses and slapping expensive shit on the walls, only to turn around and sell it for more money, increasing your neighbour’s property taxes in the process. This is a reason WHY people can’t afford to be homeowners.

Luccajan, w Epic Games Wins Shocking Upset In Google Monopoly Trial

For Apple i’d understand this but on Android you can download whatever apk from whatever store you like.

thingsiplay,
@thingsiplay@kbin.social avatar

Right? Not only can you download from any place on the web and install directly, there are also established third party shops like from Samsung and Amazon or even better, F-droid for Open Source stuff.

Maybe its classified as controlling the market, because most people don't know about alternatives and therefore Google is a monopoly. Even if there are alternatives, Google is currently in a position to control almost all Android smartphones. Similar to why Windows was classified as a monopoly, even though we had Linux for ages as an alternative operating system. So this paragraph is just a guess by me.

ege, w No Man's Sky lead says Light No Fire will let you climb mountains that are "miles high, taller than Everest"
@ege@beehaw.org avatar

I’m guessing players will prefer flying over the mountains over climbing after the trailer unless Hello Games adds some interesting mechanics to climb.

EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted, w No Man's Sky lead says Light No Fire will let you climb mountains that are "miles high, taller than Everest"

I’ve heard that before. Over-promising and under-delivering is what they said when they were making No Man’s Sky.

Lemme know when they actually have something to show for it. Then I’ll listen.

spacecowboy, w ‘The Day Before’ Developer Shuts Down Four Days After Launch

Ah the age old pump n dump.

GrayBackgroundMusic, w Lethal Company Gets Hilarious Arachnophobia Mode - IGN

Reminds me of Satisfactory’s version: the spiders are replaced with gigantic, holographic, slightly-glitchy cat heads. It’s incredibly more scary, tbh. The cat head is the size of a large dog, lol. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcAbYczBgsU

CoffeeAddict, w The studio behind Ori and the Blind Forest is making a gorgeous action RPG: No Rest for the Wicked
@CoffeeAddict@kbin.social avatar

Ori and the Blind Forest & Ori and the Will of the Wisps were absolutely beautiful games. The artstyle was marvelous.

I'll be curious to see what this looks like for that reason alone.

WHYAREWEALLCAPS, w The studio behind Ori and the Blind Forest is making a gorgeous action RPG: No Rest for the Wicked

Is it me or does it seem like ARPGs are back to being all the rage? I'm not complaining - I love the genre - just observing.

JelloBrains, w Reacting to GTA 6 First trailer 🔥
@JelloBrains@kbin.social avatar

The logo bothers me with the number behind GTA, most other games it was GTA with the name over or next to the words. The only thing I am upset about is that it's coming in 2025, I was hoping for the back half of 2024. Of course, this is also GTA, I think the first trailer for GTA V was in 2010 and the game finally launched for the first time in 2013. So we may not be playing this until 2026.

thingsiplay, w Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Adds Metro Tourism, Better Motorcycles, And More Next Week
@thingsiplay@kbin.social avatar

This will be the first (big) update of the game, since I purchased and played it. To me its Cyberpunk 2077 v1.1.
