Kali, w Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 2 to be "chonky" with fixes for performance issues and more

I hope they fix that memory leak that makes the game impossible to play after 3 hours…25gb of ram used 😂

mothersprotege,

Weird that I’ve logged multiple 3+hour sessions on my low-end PC with zero crashes. I guess I’ve accomplished the impossible!

skullone,

The memory leak issue may only affect certain hardware or drivers maybe?

Kali,

I have 7800x3d 32gb ddr5 and a 3070 so pretty good setup…

fushuan,

it’s not really what’s good or not, some devices function weird with some stuff. I’ve had the game open for the whole day or more and the only I ssue I had, before upgrading to 32GB (Had 16) is that the game went to the swap after alt tabbing for some time since it seems like nowadays 16 is nothing if you have 20 tabs open (don’t judge me), discord, telegram, nvidia broadcast (takes 1 gig) and some other shit. In any cast, after switching back it took 2-3 minutes of moving stuff to the ram again and it all worked well.

Now that I have 32 GBs of ram I have had zero issues with the game, I believe it takes something like 6-7GB.

For reference I have a 5800 and a GTX 3080, but this is more of an issue with the API calls they are using and how is the processor runing those calls and how they interact with memory.

skullone,

It has nothing to do with the performance of your hardware and everything to do with hardware/firmware/driver/software compatibility bugs.

orbitz,

Here I am wondering when I’ll get three hours in a row to play a game. No kids even just life but wife around so things get limited compared to living alone. Mean if a safe and reload works, least that doesn’t take too long.

Kali,

I have a kid I am playing right when he goes to sleep then I forget that I need sleeping so I wake up extremely tired…repeat till complete shut down

GrayBackgroundMusic, w Diablo 4 Season 2 will put fun before balance, but "we want every build to be viable"

I’ll believe it when I see it. I liked pre-season, launch stuff. I didn’t like the balance patch or S1.

DeriHunter, w Skull and Bones Beta Preview: Yes, We Really, Finally, Actually Played This Game

First of it’s ubisoft, everything they show or advertise is just straight up lie

Second of all it’s ubisoft so prepare for a bugfest shit show

Third if all it’s already missing ship boarding, recruiting etc… It’s already not in a good place on my books

ClumZy,

Fourth it’s Ubisoft, the game looks great on paper but it’s a formulaic cringefest.

I thought Lae’zel looked like that because she is a githyanki, but after seeing the actual actress I’m not so sure. Her nose looks unreal. They mocapped her way too well.

5473MP4RRit,

If you’re talking about the TikTok video of her reading Twitter comments, it’s a filter that’s pinching her nose. She doesn’t actually look like that.

Is this game even playable yet?

XTornado,

Well…depends on what you want to do I guess. I do not own it but you can do stuff for sure…

Complete? No it isn’t and never will be as they want to do crazier and crazier stuff and keep asking money in a way or another…

Transcendant, w Starfield is Bethesda's Least Buggiest Game to Date, Say Sources

I think we’ve all learned our collective lesson at this point (or at least, we should have) not to over-hype games, nor to pre-order them.

I’m going to have to temporarily move in with my dad in October potentially for a few months, should be some decent reviews in by then so I’m looking forward to killing time with this game!

Centillionaire,

Reminder it’s on gamepass!

Transcendant,

Thanks. I think I had GP a while back just to play AC: Valhalla, so I won’t get a cheeky deal… I’ll probably buy it on GOG, as it seems like it’s not going to be the sort of game I complete within a month or two, I prefer to ‘own’ a game than rent it once I’m satisfied it’s for me.

BadlyDrawnRhino,

It will be a few years before it’s on GOG, so it really depends how patient you are. Fallout 4 only appeared on there a week or two ago to give you a frame of reference.

Transcendant,

Oh dang. thanks for the headsup. Will it not be on steam day1?

BadlyDrawnRhino,

It’ll be on Steam day one, yeah.

The people who have “learned” “the lesson” are a loud minority. The vast majority of consumers will put money wherever they feel like it, philosophy be damned.

Or they might stick the their guns and only milk GTA V

GTA Online could have been so great, but instead it feels like they put no effort into doing anything but selling new DLC. The missions are boring and unrewarding, the motivation to work with others is nil, there is no good teaming system, it’s incredibly complicated to start any business and the guide is lacking to the point where there might as well not have been a guide at all. Then if you say fuck it, I am going to attempt this all on my own someone comes up and frags you with a rocket launcher 3 seconds into attempting to pick a lock.

So frustrating. It could have been the coolest game ever and it’s just a pile of shit.

LongbottomLeaf, w Starfield is Bethesda's Least Buggiest Game to Date, Say Sources

Oh no, what’d they break this time?

Forget the kids and ignore the odds. Any game taking real money is a scam.

(No that doesn’t mean buying games. No that doesn’t mean subscriptions. No that doesn’t mean expansions. No that doesn’t mean card games. No that doesn’t mean arcades. Jesus Christ, do people find a lot of ways to get mad about nonsense, whenever I say this.)

Nothing inside a video game should cost real money. Absolutely fucking nothing. All possible forms are abuse, built on how games by definition invent value for worthless elements that can be arbitrarily granted or withheld. That is what makes them games.

The business model is intolerable - and if we allow it to continue, there will be nothing else. It’s the dominant strategy. Your disgust and non-participation will never outweigh some tiny fraction of people getting taken for obscene quantities of real money in exchange for incrementing a variable. It’s in free mobile trash. It’s in $70 “AAA” flagship-franchise titles. It’s in single-player, multi-player, subscription MMOs - it’s in everything. There is zero incentive for them not to try robbing you like this. Companies that don’t rob you will make less money than companies that do.

Only legislation can fix this.

Ban the entire business model. (No that doesn’t mean games. No that doesn’t mean content. Jesus Christ, am I tired of dealing with pearl-clutching nonsense, just to say “fuck lootboxes.”)

Overt abuse gets disguised. It’s still abuse. All they’re getting better at is how deep the hooks can slide before people notice.

Content is the bait on this hook. All it’s doing is disguising the abuse. The abuse remains. The abuse is the entire point. The abuse is the only part that makes money.

This business model is a threat to the entire medium, and the only real solution is dead simple. We will be fine without it. We will only be fine, without it.

  • mindbleach,

Lootboxes aren’t “buying content.” Buying a game, is. Buying DLC, is. Gambling on a hat that’s already in the game you’re playing is plainly something different, and increasingly, that’s the only source of revenue.

This is not theoretical. We’re already in a stupid sci-fi future where four-billion-dollar games can be “”“free”“” and somehow convince people to spend thousands of dollars apiece on a deluge of random bullshit which is also allegedly free. And it’s not even possible to have a sane argument about this shit-show, because people pretend they don’t understand the thing all these games do.

I want video games to make money the way they did in 2008.

Do you have an opinion about that?

If it goes ‘then games would magically look like 2008 forever,’ stop.

If it goes ‘but then they’d make 2008 kinds of money,’ stop.

This is new. This is bad. This is spreading. We should stop it.

The studio that made Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 struggling like this while 3 sparks a fire in the western RPG genre is just sad to see.
