TLDR: Dev is The Chinese Room, developer of Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. They still won’t say what happened with Hardsuit Labs, the OG dev, and the mechanics and system will be totally different.
Instead of a thin-blood, you’re an Elder fresh from torpor.
Oh man! This game is finally coming out! I’m so excited and…
The Chinese Room
FUCKING goddamn I hate that studio.
Specifically Dan Pinchbeck. Dude thinks he’s god’s gift to game design despite making walking sims. He got in hot water a while ago for talking shit about fans when his amnesia game wasn’t universally praised. Blah blah we don’t understand horror and video games… standard hipster shit.
Not to mention… they make walking sims… I guess we’ll never get a real VTM game.
One of the biggest reasons I stopped playing Overwatch on PlayStation a few years ago.
Smurfing is out of control there (unlimited free accounts), and most matches down where I lived in Gold were determined by which team had more Masters players on their team.
RIP the fixed version of SR2 PC, but good riddance to the developers (probably new ones and not the ones that made their good games) that insulted their fans after the reboot was announced.
Isnt this the end they did on D3 and it made it just a flood of huge numbers and nothing was fun, nothing was this one drop can break the game for your build. If everything gets you there, getting there isnt a challenge. I mean I like ARPGs and I like when they have those moments like can I make it thru this fight. This dosent sound like that. But it also sounds like they are not dealing with the grind issue, that I thought a lot of their players were complaining of. And the grind here was for leveling not for gear (if I understand correctly).
I think the D3 model is fun. I was actually disappointed at how different D4 is, once I got through the storyline. I do agree that the grind is too great. I basically stopped playing after I finished the storyline. I tried a couple of different builds after increasing the world tier, ran out of gold and got stuck with a build I didn’t enjoy, and quit logging on. It’s worth noting that I’m just a casual player who would create a new character each season in D3, get to GR100ish, and then get bored and stop until the next season.
Well if you could fix it what would you wanna see? I figure you are the demo they are trying to get a hold of for the longest, the hardcore players some times can be whales, but the mtx on the everyday nerds brings in the good seasonal money. I think that the grind shouldnt be there at all, yeah the leveling should slow but the rates I saw were wow levels of grind for no real gains, sure you could place a node or two but I didnt see those being build defining (yet?), I play for the gear, sets or what ever, when I can finally spec out that uber break the fricken game build and then maybe farm up some gold for trading.
The MMO side of this game kinda makes tainting the world areas hard but they could offer dungeons that go odd places or something like candy on the map that you see once or twice in 8 hours. But for real, what would you like to see?
And yet I can’t help thinking that a lot of the extreme side character content could have been aided significantly by AI.
The main 80% of the voice acting is outstanding.
But particularly in Act 3 there’s something disconcerting about every other pedestrian you can talk to who spouts a quip using roughly the same voice with mediocre delivery.
It’s a perfect use case for the AI voice tech available today. The main parts and actual side characters should still have been bespoke acting and mocap, but the random pedestrian in the city might have been notably improved with using generated voices to broaden the variety.
BG3 has been very strong evidence to me that hybrid approaches integrating AI for filling in background content are going to be the standard by the end of the current console generation.
For The King is a total steal for 5 bucks. Not a ton of repeatability but I lost about 4 weekends beating it. Great game, mixes a lot of genres and it totally work. Worth a look, especially at that price.
AOE2 DE doesn’t work fine scroll down to all the people saying it doesn’t work on their flavor of proton. I would know I bought it couple months ago and refunded it because it just wouldn’t work. It doesn’t seem they fixed anything either.
The most recent comment that claims it works is from 3 days ago, and it seems you need a startup command. So it seems to have been completely broken as of a week or two ago, but potentially there’s a workaround on the latest Proton experimental.
So your experience from a couple months ago may no longer apply.
Nope still doesn’t work, it used to work on proton 5, 6, 7, 8 flawlessly. Now you have to install a custom proton that includes a simple fix to be able to play the game (this fix only works on proton 7 and 8 and your performance its questionable). Also this isn’t official so you can get banned at any moment. Having to use bleeding edge proton for something that used to work on proton 5 flawlessly is not a fix.
I just picked up the homework bundle but I’ve never played them. I also picked up Warhammer 40k mechanicus, which I own on PS5 but I’ve switched back to PC with the steam deck.
The problem with these games (like Stellaris, which is also on offer and I would recommend with the same warning) is that the base game lacks many interesting features, which you only get if you buy all the DLCs.
On my tablet I only bought the two large DLCs and not the leader packs and my city planning looked really bad when I realized that not all wonders are available without them.
I’ve had a great time playing the Stellaris base game but stopped playing after I felt like I was being locked out of a bunch of new content in DLC. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a complete pack of the DLC but even on sale I’d need to pay way more than I paid for the base game.
If you were okay with “man, after getting away from a life of crime, is immediately pulled back in by people who don’t have his best interests at heart and will use him to betray others before eventually getting betrayed themselves” for over two decades, I don’t think you need to worry. Took until RDR2 to break that mold.
I just finished the first really hard boss (Balteus) and I’m having a ball. Can recommend. But play it on PC with KB+M. I know it’s a fromsoft game, but the KB+M controls are 10X as good as gamepad controls.
I feel like I would have beat Balteus by now if I had the game on PC instead of PS5. Even with the auto lock aiming, this asshole moves around faster than I can turn the camera with a stick, even with the camera speed at 10.
Edit: Wait… Does the PS5 version support M&KB…? 🤔 I’ll have to try later when I have the chance.
I beat him with a hardcore mobility and missiles build, but I’ve heard he’s much more doable if you switch to a superheavy build of all plasma weapons (the “Meefcake” is its name in the meta). One thing I noticed is his movement habits make him pretty vulnerable to missiles, which catch up to him when he holds still.
With mouse and keyboard where you can track him well he’s very fun to fight in close range since he likes to hold still for his missile volleys (you can pour in the damage while dodging), except that his ability to punish you with the bazooka means every screw-up is lethal when you’re in close. And that’s 10X worse when he gets his flaming sword.
I feel limited in my options because I’ve gotten everything I possibly can to mix up my mech at this point through the missions and the logcabin stuff, and while I do want to be a plasma goblin, I can’t even use 2 plasma guns without overloading my energy, let alone adding in the shoulder cannons. :/
I only have access to two generators. And one of those is the one I started with.
Wow. It dropped at a rough time, too. BG3 is still going nuts and Starfield is coming soon. It's the kind of thing I'd love to check out but those two (and probably Madden because it's football season) are just going to eat the absolute hell out of my time.
