Well, this is incredibly disappointing. I wasn't aware the Completionist had a charity dedicated to dementia, but I've respected his commitment to preserving gaming media and history. Still none of this looks good and I'm struggling to find a good reason as to why you would just sit on donations for nearly a decade without dispersing them.
This game is awesome and deserves more credit than it receives. The only thing it lacks imo is built-in multiplayer support (right now you can have mp with a mod but it has some flaws).
Aero is simultaneously half missing and the most detailed aero of any game I’ve played. if you take all the weight out of a piccolina and put a mattress on the roof and push it down a hill it flys.
Very excited to see this finally released. As glad as I am that it's free, I wish Sony or From could have given it their official blessing and partnered with her so she could sell it and make money. She's put a ton of work into this and the PS1 Demake, and I wish she could have gotten paid for her effort. She deserves it
Wow I can still self host? That’s real generous of them. I’ll be sure to do that after rebuying the game for $50. I’m sure I’ll have the privilege of rebuying all the dlcs for more too.
By using this Software (ARK Survival Ascended Dedicated Server, the “Application”), you agree to the following:
The Application is intended and allowed for Personal Use only. Running the Application for Commercial Purposes is not allowed. Lending the operation of the Application to anyone other than the owner of the Steam login to operate is not permitted.
Running the Application is only allowed with a Steam login that owns ARK Survival Ascended, with one Application instance allowed per login.
Reverse Engineering / manipulating the Application is not allowed (e.g. circumventing the restrictions).
This went into Forspoken back at the end of September.
I tried it out on a 3080Ti and I can confirm it’s absolute garbage. Totally hitchy stuttery mess, completely unplayable every time I turned it on. Plus, you have to use FSR2 for your image reconstruction to make it work, so you don’t get the image quality benefits of DLSS while you’re staring at the frozen frames during the stutters.
Says their game is feature complete then starts talking about new features they’re adding and improving. Not sure these guys know what feature complete means.
Back to the origin hm?.. Well, finger crossed on this one. I’m tired of cyber-magic bulls**t. I just want to enjoy historically accurated city with some nice stealth combat.
Wow, did not expect it. I am torn now. The original felt self-contained, compete, the story ended properly. Can they really continue the story in a compelling way? Or are they making an alternative story unrelated to the original? I loved the OG so much, I hope they won’t screw it up.
But mostly it was about the puzzles and how Croteam (???) figured out how to couple every single mechanic in such incredibly interesting ways. There weren’t hidden mechanics you had to learn. It was all about learning a new trick to solve a puzzle and then realizing you could have done that two hours ago… and then finding a secret.
And if they think they have enough new mechanics/ideas? I am all for it.
I agree, but I would say the story was central to gluing everything together. I don’t know if I would have been as invested as I was if it was a worse story and just great puzzles. So now I wonder what they are going to do story-wise. Still, I’m more excited about this than another Serious Sam =) btw, the most hidden mechanic I learned was that you can use a 3rd person view, which I preferred much more than 1st person
