Why are people downvoting? This seems like a cool game

cafuneandchill,

I imagine people are probably fed up with “children horror” (or are, at least, wary of it)

Maven,

Yeah that’s valid. Mascot horror kinda killed a lot of horror games for me.

I’m far more likely to support something if I know the creator is excited about it and you kinda have to be in order to post on a platform as small as Lemmy.

Katana314,

Possibly because the same person made two posts recently about it. I notice one is “Trailer 2”, but still.

hal_5700X, (edited ) do gaming w Baby Blues Nightmares is a horror game I created alone inspired by The Shining where you play as a Baby On A Tricycle which you can customize, paint and upgrade while evading monsters!

So it’s not based on the old WB show. 😅

This seems like one of those rare moments when you actually have to give Sony their kudos. Yes, pat yourself on the back this time.

feedum_sneedson, do games w Grimbeard - Shadow Man: Remastered (PC) Review - Grimbeard video

I put so many hours into this game without the map, before realising you are supposed to have a paper map. It was a bit impossible without the map. I really liked it, but it could have been a lot better.

I hate it how hoyoverse games have amazing animation, yet are easily some of the most manipulative games out there

Dremor,
@Dremor@lemmy.world avatar

You are not the only one who hate that. I refuse to play any of those game because of that, as well as many other microtransaction games, especially those who exploit FOMO.

I love the character design of this game so much. Too bad that I’m not good at this type of game…

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

You play some more and get better. Nobody starts good at a game unless they spent that time getting good at a similar one. Probably right at launch will be tons of people at your skill level to learn with.

Aielman15,
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve spent a good chunk of my childhood playing Tekken 3 with my brother and our friends. I just suck at fighting games :D

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Nah, that’s not some inherent quality you have. I played fighting games regularly for basically my entire life, but it was only about 5 years ago that I started to really learn how they work under the hood and focused on how to improve. You can too! Also, “learning how to get good” is a skill that transcends any one genre, so I recommend you try it on one game or another.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

This looks more like a Smash clone, which while technically a fighting game, is generally more accessible for people who don’t play fighting games. You can be pretty good just mashing buttons at random unlike Tekken or Street Fighter. Just FYI.

@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

All PS games are DoA (to me) due to mandatory (completely pointless) PSN linking.

ChocoboRocket,

I’ve had my PS4 pro for years and never had paid PSN, is it required for PS5?

Or just for online play, which I do not care for

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

This is the PC release.

ChocoboRocket,

Fair enough, I assumed you gamed on both and stopped for PS5 because they made PSN mandatory and I somehow was unaware.

Can’t justify a gaming PC when PS4 pro was pretty cheap and my gaming hours are not what they used to be

I can justify a not so new console every 5 or so years as they hit my value for money sweet spot, and reduced gaming hours due to life

But the upfront cost for a decent rig to replace consoles entirely is not what I want to use my money for (for now!)

Can’t wait to finally make the jump though!

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Can’t justify a gaming PC when PS4 pro was pretty cheap

The console itself is cheap, sure. But the games are much more expensive, and the monthly subscription will add up over time. Although if you’re only playing single player, that may not be an issue. I’d be surprised if you can even get past the boot screen on a PS5 without being connected to the internet and logged in.

Can’t wait to finally make the jump though!

It’s never been cheaper or easier to make the transition with the Steam Deck!

emeralddawn45,

Somebody else also said it but the steam deck is amazing. Mid level pc performance that can handle almost all new games, and you can use a dock and have it set up just like a console. I use mine all yhe time with bluetooth ps4 controllers. Much bigger games library+being able to emulate so many older consoles makes it a no brainer i think.

MeatsOfRage, (edited )

PSN account is free, you probably already have one if you owned one of the last 3 PlayStation consoles. There are paid add-ons if you want the multiplayer or the gamepass like subscription.

Edit

What’s with all the downvotes, it’s literally an answer to the question. You fellas mad I didn’t editorialize the information with personal opinions?

BadlyDrawnRhino,

They’re referring to Sony’s stance that all their PC releases should require you to have and sign-in to a PSN account. That’s separate to PS+, you don’t need to pay a sub.

A lot of publishers include this requirement on their PC releases, regardless of whether they’re single-player or multiplayer, and I think a lot of people are fed up with having to have so many different accounts.

darthelmet,

Even for the single player games?

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Starting with this one, it’s a requirement on PC, yes. Hopefully they do away with it due to lost sales, but they’re still at least pretending that they’re somehow going to convert PC players into console players.

BadlyDrawnRhino,

I don’t think that’s their goal at all. Otherwise we wouldn’t see any sequels released on PC, that would be a much better strategy for converting players to console. The only reason publishers require their own logins in games, at least for single-player titles, is data collection. Data is very valuable.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I think the strategy is so terrible that they can’t believe it, but they’ve publicly stated that’s the goal. I’m not sure what data they’d get out of it that they don’t get out of Steam achievements, but more likely it’s to brag about how many “active PSN users” they have, using a misleading number. Still, all I see when I see that requirement is online DRM.

billiam0202,

don’t think that’s their goal at all.

Literally their goal.

As mentioned (via Tom Warren) by [Playstation co-CEO Hermen] Hulst in the interview, Sony wants to tempt PC players to purchase and play sequels to single-player narrative games on a PlayStation console.

The_Helmet_Stays_On,

They really underestimate patient gamers.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

There’s their stated goal and their actual goals.

Do you think they’re just going to come out and say that they want your data?

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Not all of them. This one, yes. I suspect all future ones as well.

burgersc12,

Can’t wait to pirate this game

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

My thoughts, exactly.

stardust,

I hope some mods come out that allows it to be skippable for single player games.

mesamunefire, do games w Rivals of Aether II | Official Release Date Trailer (October 23)

Liked the original quite a bit. Looking forward to this one.

I hope they keep the workshop like in 1.

Voyajer,
@Voyajer@lemmy.world avatar

They’re not last I heard.

pory,
@pory@lemmy.world avatar

Work required for ROA1 level of “workshop characters” is exponentially higher in the new art style and engine. When/if this game gets Steam Workshop, it’ll probably end up with more “tweaked/cloned” characters than totally new wacky MUGEN stuff like ROA1.

Zorque,

Do you need Playstation Plus or just an account?

SelfProgrammed,

Just an account I think. I’d just rather not.

Zorque,

I misinterpreted your comment, I read it as $60 for the PSN account, not the game 🤦‍♂️

SelfProgrammed,

Understandable. Sorry for the confusion.

Zorque,

Yeah, I’m sorry for my constant confusion, too. I appreciate your understanding :)

PunchingWood,

I only played it like 2 months ago on my PS5. It was a discount to €50 but I’d say full price would still be totally worth it.

The quality of the game, gameplay and story far surpasses that of many others, 2 years does not degrade the quality of the game.

I’d rather pay €60 for this than €70 for Astro Bot.

tanisnikana, do games w UFO 50 - Launch Trailer

This thing’s so good.

Personal favorites include Campanella 2, Magic Garden, and Attactics.

simple,

I bought it and am having a blast as well! There are definitely games I dislike, especially Barbuta (the first one). I get what it’s going for but eugh, too slow and clunky.

Magic Garden was the first game I beat - and it’s the only one I have a cherry disk on. Lots of fun, it’s not that hard once it clicks.

I’ve only went through the first ten games and my favorites are Magic Garden, Mortol, and Velgress. The latter two are kicking my ass, but I keep coming back.
