Story wise, all different with a certain set of tropes being ever present (crystal will be a nonsense word in your head by the end). Gameplay wise, they can be samey with significant variations on progression (8 being the most out there IMHO). After 13, it does start getting much more variable with the formula.
Final Fantasy is like Black Mirror, there are common themes, plot points, and names that persist throughout the series. However no two numbered titles share the same worldbuilding, lore, and characters.
It’s like what happened with Quake I-IV but on steroids. Very different games held together by a promise of what emotions you’d expect.
Yeah I’m in the same boat where my time is limited and I’d honestly rather be on here arguing about feline genetic differentiation than playing the equivalent to a game made by PETA that caught on with the crowd who responds to every Nintendo Post with just the word “PalWorld”.
Nothing else, no discussion, I think some of them are actually PalWorld fans who don’t realize they’re hurting the case of PalWorld being different enough to avoid legal disputes by associating it with competitor titles.
Actually, you know what, now that I talked through it I know I would love to play this title but I want absolutely nothing to do with the community around it.
It wouldn’t be a good game if it wasn’t so much fucking fun. It has basically no coherent story, the gameplay loop is not that complex, but the many different pals, their abilities, and the exploration are all fun as heck.
If you don’t want to associate with the people, then don’t. Don’t join the discussions.
If you want to be 100% incognito, just set yourself to invisible on Steam.
By the time BLOPS came out Activision had stolen the zombie mod from modders and then denied mods for the games so they could sell maps (which were worse than the ones the modders made).
This was after they literally had security escort the founders of Infinity Ward out of their own studio for publicly complaining that they hadn’t been paid the agreed royalties for the original COD:MW2.
Castle Wolfenstein was such a fun game! Not just one of the first stealth games, but one of the first procedurally generated games too! Most people think that it was Elite. Haven’t played or thought about it in a few years… Maybe I’ll fire it up tonight.
All logos here are made artificially monochrome (ebay, Google still remain coloured, etc.). Revolut has broken its R into 2 pieces in 2023. AirBnB and Microsoft logos include now their symbols, not only wordmarks (and they are omitted in this image). Spotify still uses its "beams".
Yes, some brands went (more) bland - especially Pinterest, Google and ebay.
For fashion: Burberry has returned to its knight in 2023. And some fashion brands go against this trend - 2017 Zara wordmark is more complicated than before.
BTW, even on this image I can see, that former Revolut and AirBnB logos look like knock-overs of each other. Both used even shades of blue xd
