I mean that I don’t know of an opensource game store, let alone one that allows devs to get paid. There are stores out there where devs publish their opensource games, but the stores themselves are proprietary.
I’m not sure how an opensource game store could be monetized. It would probably be donations. A part of those could go to the game store devs. Probably the closest we’ll get to something like that is the Heroic Launcher. If they added an index of opensource games and had a distribution package (I assume it would be flatpak) and some method of payment or donation link, it could be possible.
It’s much more fun to play collaborative games vs AI with a higher level friend than playing competitive games vs humans with a higher level friend. You always get destroyed in the latter for weeks while your frustrated friend tries to coach you.
I’ve tried watching videos about it, but they are not analysing the reasons. Instead it’s just whining about the symptoms and hypocrisy of rich CEOs firing employees then buying a yacht. We all know it’s terrible, but my question is “why”. “herp derp, capitalism” and “omg, it’s the fucking CEOs” doesn’t...
I’m waiting in a affordable VR setup that can let me run around at home without hitting a wall. Solutions exist but they as expensive as a car and I don’t have that kind of money lying around.
I do my best to block any news regarding the new administration, so this comes at quite a surprise that it was even considered. Always thought NASA was one of the great prides of the country, but it seems like those days are long gone.

Black holes the size of an atom that contain the mass of an asteroid may fly through the inner solar system about once a decade, scientists say. Would a regular asteroid be able to wobble the earth as described in this article? Or is it just black holes that should do so?
I seem to remember reading that primordial black holes weren’t yet a proven phenomenon and I have trouble imagining them myself. Wouldn’t they have hawking radiation too which we would be able to detect?
PirateSoftware was a blizzard dev, is a current dev, and is just basically lobbying against change. I don’t believe he’s being genuine in his arguments and is misrepresenting the cause or hasn’t understood it. It was possible to make games that didn’t stop working once a server shut down and it still is.
Being given a server binary isn’t a licensing issue unless you make it one. And because publishers and studios sign shitty contracts, doesn’t make it right, nor the only way to do business. If he wants to do business that way, do that shit in the US, but if something meaningful happens in the EU, then don’t sell your games there. Simple as…
it turns out the PS VR2’s Sense Controllers are very flakey when it comes to Bluetooth connectivity. Even though I have the required Bluetooth adapter built into my PC, constant connection losses meant that I couldn’t even make it past the headset’s initial setup process on PC.
Bluetooth has always been a bad experience for me. The connection will always randomly drop. Sometimes I’ll hold the two connected devices right next to each other or lay one on top of the other and the connection will still drop.
Any device that requires bluetooth is an immediate nope for me and life has been easier since.
Why don’t we have anything better? I’d even accept WiFi (802.11) connections over bluetooth. Sure, they aren’t as energy efficient (right?), but at least they are stable.
Our shareholders can’t buy another private jet to pollute the environment, so fuck off. Jake, you can stay though. You’ve been promoted to hold every job with a 5% raise.
No wonder I never played anything on Roblox - it’s for kids. I feel like parents have a lot of blame to shoulder in this case too. They should be preparing their kids for these situations, but seemingly thousands fail.
Weird. I don’t see anything at all. Maybe a mod could set an image related to gaming? A PC, console, or something? !piracy has a supercool script that generates a new image every week using AI from a generated sentence. Would be cool to have something like that too!
If it is, there are AI site likes www.craiyon.com that allow generating images manually and uploading them manually. Maybe you could use that to make a banner and icon. If not, you could also pick something yourself (if you already have something in mind), or ask the community to share suggestions in a pinned post and the most liked on after a given timeframe (a week?) is picked. It could be a monthly / bi-monthly / quarterly / semestrial / yearly thing 🙂
The new console option won’t include a disc drive, and will be entirely all-digital. Inside it’s identical to the Xbox Series X, with the same performance for existing Xbox games. This new white model will be available with 1TB of storage later this year, priced at $449.99....
What about all the movies with guns? It’s much more normal to see a movie about someone getting shot or otherwise killed than see even a titty, much less any genitalia. I’d argue that many more people watch media than play games, if that’s the logic they’re going for.
Their frustration is completely misdirected also because it’s friggin’ Texas! What do you need to get a gun in that state? A pulse?
Edit: the dude was 18, how did he even get a gun? You need to be at least 21 to have one. How did he even get an semi-automatic weapon? The fuck?
The Ars article is definitely better than the gamesindustry.biz one. Patent trolls for sure.
Also, what the fuck is that patent? They are describing a multi-cast over unicast, which is basically a for loop over the participants. Friggin ridiculous.
A lot of the negative reviews were tied to the very buggy state the game released in. I’ve heard rumors that Obsidian asked for more QA time but was forced by the publisher to rush it to release. Given that Obsidian had a bounty reward if they hit a certain Metacritic score and they missed it by one point, I’m inclined to believe that rumor.
Thanks, that’s what stuck with me and I hadn’t checked since. I’ll give a go. Thanks.
