All the greatest recent games run super well on the Steam Deck
I get what you are telling here, but it’s not 100% accurate, generally speaking. It might be true for you personally. I own a first gen Steam Deck myself and its just a complementary hardware to my PC (and wonderful at that). It does not run all greatest games at all or in some cases limited and problematic. So “super well” is a little bit exaggerated, but that does not take away how fantastic the device is.
When the PS5 launched I wanted to upgrade but you literally couldn’t get it because it wasn’t in stock anywhere. You could only find it on eBay of some private seller that started at almost double the price, no, thank you. Then Sony introduced this “Register and on the next event you get a slot to buy one from the official Website” which was great. I got invited the first time and literally couldn’t buy it because the website was broken. Whenever I wanted to select my payment method the checkout got blank and there was nothing you could do. Even worse was that you couldn’t hard refresh the shop because this would have killed the session that the website needed to allow you to buy it. So, even switching browsers with the same “invitation link” didn’t work. I reported this to the support, but they didn’t really care. half a year later, I got my second invitation link and the same happened then as well. I reported it again to the support, but they still didn’t know what to do with that information or wanted to troubleshoot this.
And now, there isn’t really a need for it anyway. The Games that I would have wanted to buy on the PS5 released on the PC.
Rise of the Ronin and demon souls are the only things I’m missing. I tried to find one without botting for awhile before I gave up. Rather thankful I did lol.
I own an Xbox Series (got it for free, you can’t argue with that), but still will wait for the PC port. I don’t think it will take 3 years before it comes to PC, especially not in todays landscape with a strong PC in Gaming overall. They surely are already working in a way to enable such a port. So 1 year from console release date seems to be realistic.
If you haven’t listened the How Did This Get Made episode about Morbius, you owe it to yourself to do that immediately.
They get into some stories about Jared Leto’s antics on set and trying to do improv and it sounds more like an Ambien-induced dialogue than a description of actual human behavior.
for some reason only things already ubiquitous get marketed these days
the reason you’re looking for is capitalism. why would I bet marketing money on anything but the most likely big return? this is also why such a huge portion of movies are either reboots, sequels, prequels or “homages”.
Yes, but the point of adveritsing is to convince someone to buy a product… if I already consume and know about said product, then what does advertising do besides waste money?
Fuck the Dorito’s “Anti-Ad” was as close as these corpos got to figuring it out
I wouldn’t say 5 pieces of dlc totalling $20 is a lot. Not these days at least. Looks like they’re things you’d normally get in the “deluxe edition” of games past.
Wouldn’t tempt me to open my wallet but it’s not as grotesque as a lot of dlc these days.
This is how I even found out they were making the game, so pretty good news. Never got around to playing the other one they released, though… Or finishing the first.
It’s insane to me how poorly they treated workers before and got away with it, but then decided to just keep pushing the envelope like the workers would never say that’s enough.
Game devs get shit from all sides. They’re pushed to work hard for long hours, during crunch they’ll frequently miss weekends and nights from their families. It is common that they burn out and their family life suffers. Most developers in the community avoid game studios because they know what it’s like, so studios attract Jr developers who are less qualified and don’t know any better. And we haven’t even talked about the putrid shit they get from gamers when they release a buggy game, that they probably did know about and desperately wanted to fix but execs forced them to release anyway.
Yet they still want more from them. And now execs are all shocked Pikachu that they’re finally organizing to unionize. And they absolutely should
The WipeOut games for the PSP were pretty great. Shame this whole genre has vanished from big publishers. A new WipeOut and a new F-Zero would make my year.
For how much people are worrying about tariffs I’ve lived my entire life with a 66% alcohol tax, 75% electronics tax, 240-380% vehicles tax and recently even saw 150% inflation.
