verysoft, do games w After 27,000+ Steam reviews, Overwatch 2 is graded as 'Overwhelmingly Negative'

Good, they absolutely fucking butchered the game just to sell cosmetics and heroes.

falsem, do gaming w Hades player beats unmodded 64 Heat difficulty run - "arguably unachievable in thousands of hours"

They got really lucky with that Zeus special boon at the beginning.

stratoscaster, do gaming w THOSE GAMES is a pitch-perfect parody of "those games"

There’s only 5 different games and they don’t really do anything interesting with any of them. Hard pass

HawlSera,

Yeaaah… 10 dollars makes you think the game’s gonna be a biiiiit biggah

Phegan, do games w As The Outer Worlds 2 hits $80, director says "we don't set the prices for our games" and wishes "everybody could play" Obsidian's new RPG

Bummer, but that’s gonna be a no from me, dog.

NigelFrobisher, do games w As The Outer Worlds 2 hits $80, director says "we don't set the prices for our games" and wishes "everybody could play" Obsidian's new RPG

The evolution of game design has basically been dead for a few years now, so shouldn’t the process just get cheaper?

Lemminary,

For AAA games, maybe, but not for indie. The best and most innovative games out there are not made by major studios.

mostlikelyaperson,

Obsidian hasn’t been an indie for at least 7 years now.

ms_lane,

This is a ‘AAA’ game.

Lemminary,

I meant generally about game design. I’m not talking about this game, although it looks interesting.

Fidelity and it’s consequences have been a disaster for the budget size

fxomt, do games w As The Outer Worlds 2 hits $80, director says "we don't set the prices for our games" and wishes "everybody could play" Obsidian's new RPG

Heavy respect to obsidian. Outer worlds is a great game, i wish i could buy full price going to obsidian only. Fuck M$

NotASharkInAManSuit, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 dev calls Randy Pitchford's $80 Borderlands 4 comments "gross" because it implies the FPS is more important than "making it day to day"

Damn. I honestly had no interest in Borderlands anymore, but this has inspired me to pirate Borderlands 4 just as a fuck you.

Flemmy,

Borderlands 3 was fun but like a final piece to this genre. Many guns, amusing storyline, corny humor and great world design.

fistac0rpse, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 dev calls Randy Pitchford's $80 Borderlands 4 comments "gross" because it implies the FPS is more important than "making it day to day"

Will Borderlands 4 be an Epic exclusive like 3? Really fighting an uphill battle there

Mister_Feeny,

No, it will be on steam day one. They had to figure out a new way to shoot their sales numbers in the foot.

OmegaMan, do games w "I don't know" how much Borderlands 4 will cost, Gearbox boss says, but it had "more than twice the development budget for Borderlands 3" and "it might be" $80 like some Nintendo and Xbox games

Is anyone really excited for borderlands anymore? Feel like 2 of the last 3 were pretty mid.

samus12345,

1 - good

2 - good

everything else - meh

inclementimmigrant, do games w Ubisoft says you "cannot complain" it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren't "deceived" by the lack of an offline version

Oooooooooh, fuck you Ubisoft.

PunchingWood, (edited ) do games w Black Myth: Wukong is your Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024

All kidding aside, I personally enjoyed Helldivers 2 most this year. I had a good feeling about the game before it launched, but it was nice to have it confirmed. I tried Black Myth, but it’s really not my type of game, to me it just feels like yet another Souls-like game in a different theme, like so many others that came before in the past decade. Feels like HD2 added something new to the table as opposed to BMW.

lustyargonian, do games w 7 years after being delisted for a second time, the 2013 Deadpool game just got a mysterious update on Steam alongside 6 other delisted Activision games

MSFT potentially planning to bring these back?

einlander,

Or adding Xbox logins

Jeffool,
@Jeffool@lemmy.world avatar

I do wonder if they’d garner enough attention to pay for the licenses to add them to Game Pass. I loved the MUA games.

jordanlund, do games w "The father of PlayStation" says everyone at Sony thought the PS1 would fail when it was first pitched
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Gamers did too… Sony’s track record prior to the PS1 wasn’t great:

Furbag, do games w "The father of PlayStation" says everyone at Sony thought the PS1 would fail when it was first pitched

Hard to blame them for thinking that at the time. CD-based consoles had a very rough start in that era, but the PS1 was probably the first actual hardware success that used the CD exclusively as it’s medium. Nintendo had pushed cartridges to their absolute limit with the technology they had, so it was only a matter of time before someone ended up succeeding where others failed.

scripthook, do games w After 350,000 signatures in an EU consumer rights campaign, Ubisoft is adding offline modes to The Crew games - but not the now-dead original
@scripthook@lemmy.world avatar

This is why I got a PS3. Most games run off disc. One update no more than 60GB and hundreds of offline games. I hate online play

Tick_Dracy,
@Tick_Dracy@lemm.ee avatar

Same. And you can also purchase old gems for a really low price 😅

scripthook,
@scripthook@lemmy.world avatar

Yes I returned my ps4 at a vintage game store that died under warranty and traded in my games and I got a ps3 along with 13 titles. Most games were $5

Tick_Dracy,
@Tick_Dracy@lemm.ee avatar

Even though you dislike online play, you can still play online with the PS3. Some servers are still up and running, and for other titles there are custom servers created by some fans. And the best part: you don’t need to pay the online fee that Microsoft created during the 360 days, which Sony and Nintendo followed after.
