Nintendo is just really good at making water i guess.
The first game that really wowed me with its water was Wave Race 64, so this tracks. I first noticed that home consoles were getting better graphics than arcades when I saw WaveRunner’s water compared to Wave Race. It was really a “writing on the wall” moment for seeing the end of the arcade.
Sea of Thieves is a yes, basically any game i play with water goes on it. Subnautica i have played but it was on a cheap laptop with a duo core CPU and 6 GB of RAM so… i didn’t but it on there out of courtesy to give it a fair shot. I want to pick it up again on Steam though to give it a try. I’m not to invested in the lore though so i’m probably going to hold off until the sequel too buy it so i can play with friends
Water Temple is one of my favorites, though i’m used to the 3DS version with the QoL changes so that probably helps. I do get why it can be annoying though
I’ve been avoiding anything about Mario Kart World (mainly because i can’t afford a switch 2 and as much as i’d like to justify getting World, it’s just Mario Kart again in my eyes). But i looked it up and holy shit you’re right. I’m happy to see it back, i hope it wasn’t butchered like they did N64 Rainbow Road on 8 though (at least, that was my personal opinion), i’m trying to stay optimistic and open though
😁 I haven’t been interested in Mario Kart since around Mario Kart Wii (when I lost interest; MK64 forever! ❤️)
But I have to say, World looks super clean. Very slick animations and great music. That said, I don’t think I would get it for myself though. Possibly if my kids want it.
Dune 2000 was amazing, but this is pretty good too. I was ready to hate it, but a friend convinced me to try it with them and its been immensely fun so far.
I do this so much by accident in desktop mode on the Steamdeck with a Steam controller. I dunno why big picture mode is apparently bound to pressing the Steam button on the controller (not every time, just sometimes!), but why is it even bound to anything when I’ve just switched intentionally to desktop mode? Why would I switch away from gaming mode just to enable big picture? What’s the use case that they’re catering to here by making it so easy to accidentally be in this situation?
Anyhow, pretty amazing that this minor annoyance is almost the only thing to complain about with my Steamdeck experience. Best gaming console I’ve ever had.
