Depends on your hardware. I ran the benchmark tool for a laugh. I don’t think I quite meet minimum spec, but not far off I think. If you’re down that end, I’d avoid it.
i am WELL abover recommended soec by a long shot. They should maybe reconsider those specs since not everyone wants to use fram gen and lower resolutiona in 2025.
I just played Return to castle Wolfenstein again. Too bad the public servers are 100% bots all the time. I know it’s old but I expected at least one or two other players.
You nailed it about the gameplay in your guess. It was very cutting edge when it came out. The animations on the plasmids were especially memorable I recall. It’s interesting to hear that part doesn’t hold up so well.
I’d highly recommend you play 2 as well. It’s quite different but I thought it was the best of the series gameplay-wise.
If you like the setting I would also recommend you go on to play BioShock infinite and specifically the DLC for it. I won’t say why, and I recommend you go through the base game first (very cool in its own right), but the DLC is really going to tickle your fancy I think.
Just adding support for this recommendation. I had 4 gaming headsets before this, and got this for about $140 on sale. It’s far and away the best sounding headset I’ve ever used for non-professional purposes. There are two caveats:
3.5mm jack works on most gaming consoles through the controller. And you can get a super cheap and small adapter from 3.5mm to USB-C if you want to use it with phone or other USB-C input. But if you need wireless this won’t do it.
They are open back style headphones. Meaning there’s a considerable amount of sound leakage into the room with you. Someone sitting next to you can hear every word of your voice chat or phone call. They sound really open airy and have a great sound-stage because of this, but it’s not great if you need privacy. They do make the Game One version with a closed back.
I can personally recommend the Astro a50s and the Audeze Maxwell, but both of those are going to approach the $300 mark. You can also explore cheaper Astro headsets like the a30s but i havent had any experience with those
I’ve had the same pair of a40s for probably eight years now and they’re still perfect. Never had issues.
They’re wired, I’ve always preferred not having to deal with batteries so perfect for me, but that may be a deal breaker for others. They’re $150 I think.
Looks like the A40s are hard to find now. Honestly leaning towards not caring if they are wired or not, depending on where they connect. Do you connect them to the controller or the console?
Oh wow that’s worrying if they’re getting hard to find.
They connect to the controller. You can get a little mixamp for Xbox controllers that lets you control volume, mix and a mute button. For PS it just plugs into the bottom of the controller with a standard aux cable. Not sure if there is something similar to the mixamp for PS5, don’t use a headset often on mine.
I got a bit tired of Trails of Cold Steel 2, so to take a break I tried playing Wolfenstein 2, but it gave me motion sickness (not sure why, as the game is running fine and I tried increasing the fov, which usually works for me). I started looking for other games to play, but I can’t find anything that clicks.
I tried CrossCode again, restarting it after stopping around a year ago at the first real dungeon (the mines).
I really like the art, the characters are charming and the premise is interesting enough.
The puzzles are alright, altho they’ve already started getting repetitive (I’m after the halfway point of the second dungeon). The combat too seems alright, but the enemies are really annoying to fight, as they all force you to wait to hit them, which I find really boring.
Overall I don’t like it and will very likely drop it now. After like 10 hours the actual story hasn’t advanced much and the MMO’s story is not at all interesting. I tried doing a few sidequests as I had heard they were good and I felt I was underleveled, but I ended up being disappointed by what I found. Same for the exploration, mostly because it was unrewarding and the graphics lack depth, making telling apart different heights for puzzles and platforming really hard. I could probably keep ranting, but I’ll end it here.
Ori and the Blind Forest! The story, the gameplay, the progression, the level design. Everything just fits together perfectly and then there’s the soundtrack. God, I love that game!
