Get a Steam Deck. The existence of Family Sharing alone makes it a much better choice for portable family gaming.
Nintendo has numerous major anti-consumer problems, from game ownership, to hardware quality and longevity, to their abusive behavior towards fans, consumers, and competitors. It’s not worth it, there are better options.
I think the Switch would be the better example, where up, down, left, and right are four distinct buttons, to be used like ABXY when playing in single Joycon multiplayer mode.
You can see this when pressing one direction button, as the other three tilt along with it. The switches behind this plastic piece are separate, but as far as I know, that’s true in all D-pads.
The Switch Joy-Con is indeed an example of four distinct buttons.
I got the Wii U and am very happy with it. Large library of games and still looks amazing today. Homebrew and Piracy easily available and you can play GameCube and Wii Games on it too. Most importantly much much cheaper than a Switch 2 and no 80€ games bullshit.
When I upgrade to a new console, I put the old console in the original box. If I didn’t have that box, the console would just sit loose on a shelf in the back of my closet literally forever!
You could get a phone mount for a PS controller. Just a warning though, my phone was way heavier than my Dualsense controller, so it was not comfortable to play lying down. Another benefit of using the Playstation controller is you can stream your Playstation games.
I may have missed it, but Dave the Diver deserves a mention here.
Boss battles are very rare, and slow paced enough that I have not run into the dreaded “I understand the pattern but I lack the dexterity”. (I often have this problem with other games.)
I had a colleague who thought you had to ship something in original packaging if you needed to send something to get it repaired under warranty… He had so many boxes…
