My head canon is that the games where Bowser is the bad guy are just them playing roles and the sports games are their real selves. Rivals, not really enemies. Mario Kart World having all the mooks join in on the karting supports this idea.
not sure that’s hugely better frankly, because now it’s implied that the mooks are just there to let the important people act out decadent fantasies in absurd detail
like being an extra in a mr beast episode whose sole job is to get punched into cold water
They’re actors. In Mario Brothers 3 you can see the background bolted to the set and you go back stage at the end of every level. It’s a production. Then they do celebrity sporting events.
They’ve said as such at Nintendo. All the characters are actors, coworkers. If it’s Tennis Day, they’re playing tennis against each other. If it’s Smash Brothers day, they’re launching each other off floating platforms. Etc.
This is why I always found those internet Horror Story rumors about Pokemon to be so absurd. Pokemon doesn’t hide it’s horror stories. It’s right out there in the open.
Progressed a bunch more in witcher 3 but got burnt out again. Finished ugly baby and it seems a bunch of side quests become unavailable after isle of mists and I don’t have time to binge them nowadays.
Tried to make progress in celeste and they bleed pixels but they were too hard. I think I’ll give up on golden strawberries and do the other stuff on celeste and might end up giving up on tbp entirely as the fire world seems impenetrable. The difficulty curve on that game is insane
Currently looking for a short ish easy game thag I can just play from beginning to the end without getting stuck or feeling completionist fomo. Suggestions?
My dad once tried to get to know me. I was playing star wars podracer on the N64. He made it about a third of the way through the first lap, tossed the controller down and said that it was hurting his back.
