That’s a really cool idea you mentioned! Sounds like a fun project. Whenever I start something new, I find the hardest part is coming up with a good name for it. I’ve been using this awesome name generator for inspiration lately. It’s great for getting the creativity flowing.https://www.bestnamegenerators.com

Yeah… As much as I love the Doom franchise I cannot in good conscience support anything that Marty Stratton has a hand in. That douchebag screwed over Mick Gordon (the guy that did the banger soundtracks for Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal) big time.

I mean just reading this detailed account of everything that happened makes my bile rise every time.

I’d say in many time travel plots it is the entire point of the story to make nothing happen.

Like in Day of the Tentacle, you want to go back to yesterday so that Purple Tentacle cannot take over the world.

Zerfallen, do games w what are in you're top 3 favourite games of all time?

Only three is a cruel restriction; I grant myself at least a top four.

  • Morrowind
  • The Neverhood
  • Diablo 2
  • Hyper Light Drifter
piyuv,

I’ve tried getting into hyper light drifter but quickly got lost. Do you have any tips?

Zerfallen,

I used this interactive map to help me in some areas: hyper-light-drifter-map.de

Arguably Mass Effect 1.

You spend the game warning about the reaper threat and you are constantly brushed off. Then the bbg attacks the citadel and you fight them off.

Second game: oh that plot from game 1? Yea, that was an isolated incident by different species and not the enemy you were warning is about.

Game three: HELP!!! The friends of bbg from game 1 are attacking you have to save us.

trslim,

Mass Effect 2 kind of pisses me off, ngl. The characters are so good, but the plot is really kind of bad. Forcing Shepard to work with Cerberus makes zero sense, especially since my Shepard went out of their way to murder Cerberus employees for what they did to their squad.

All I’ve got are examples of plots where you have no impact on the plot. The world ends, or the world sucks, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Playing Persona 5 Royal on the switch every time I have 15 mins or more to spare. It’s almost replaced doom-scrolling entirely for me. Excellent game I failed to get into years ago but this time I think I started while I was in the right headspace.

If you are considering this game and are at all busy, get it on Switch if you can. You frequently go through 40-60 mins of scripted events/dialogue without a chance to save, so the ability to suspend and pick up where you left it is a life-saver. It also prevents me from getting distracted by other games whenever I open Steam. Maybe I’ll finish it this time.

In Life is Strange

spoileryou can choose to return everything the way it was to restore the timeline and rescue the town.

In “What remains of Edith Finch” you arguably don’t change anything. You just discover what has already happened, then you leave and the story ends. Even more so with “Dear Esther”. Less so with “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter”.

Alan Wake? Unclear what happens and what doesn’t, but one possible interpretation is that the main character is just stuck in a room typing on a typewriter for the entire game.

In Xenon, when you finish level 4 it just restarts at level 1. 🙂

Stanley Parable

Gaxsun,

I hadn’t considered it like that but yeah, if there was ever a game about nothing, the Stanley Parable is it.

0li0li, do gaming w What is your personal favorite multiplayer game and what is it's fatal flaw?

Planetside 2.

The whole game is an anomaly, plagued with some pourly addressed design challenges and a bit of jank, BUT, it is also wonderfully unique, has everything you could want in a shooter, instant action, high skill ceilling and it ruined gunplay for me with its longer TTK and deep shooting/bullet mechanics (most other shooters are just point and click by contrast).

AVengefulAxolotl, do games w what are in you're top 3 favourite games of all time?

Now this is a tough one to be honest. But if i had to pick:

  1. Cyberpunk 2077
  2. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  3. Hades

Honorable mentions (cant leave these out): Return of the Obra Dinn, Wasteland 2, Darkest Dungeon, and many more…

ExLisper, do games w what are in you're top 3 favourite games of all time?
  1. Jagged Alliance 2
  2. Unreal Tournament
  3. Fistful of Frags
dandelion,

fistful of frags is strangely addictive, what’s your load out / weapon choices?

ExLisper,

I haven’t played in a couple of years so I don’t even remember all the different weapons. I just loved the challenge. I found the game by accident on steam, tried playing and got totally crashed. It took me couple of months to be able to stand my ground and finish the round in the top half. Really hard but as you say, really addictive. I don’t have that much time for games now but if I do one day I might get back to FoF.
