That’s amazing - thanks

BiomedOtaku,

Thank you !!!

morbidcactus, do gaming w What are some games that "spin" failure states?

Most of the comments focus on death states, as far as I recall you can totally beat TES 3 Morrowind after an essential npc dies. The game will tell you it’s doomed and will prompt you to load a save, but you are largely able to continue, just have to live with the consequences, it might be a pain to do or rely on cheese, but apparently technically possible.

sandriver,

Yeah, there’s a “back path” that was originally intended to be found with a breadcrumb left if you went rogue and killed Vivec, but thanks to UESP’s documentation, you can find your way there at any point. Very fun for roleplay.

captsneeze, (edited ) do piracy w Can I override Sonarr season numbers

When looking at the series page, if you expand the seasons down to list the contained episodes, are all of the episodes there (even if not in the “correct” season)? Or are several seasons worth of episodes just not listed at all? Which show?

@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

It’s Disenchantment. I just grabbed Season 5 manually and I’m going to put them in there as Season 3. It’s over anyway so I can just delete the show from Sonarr.

JokeDeity, (edited ) do games w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

Not exactly the same but sort of related: the first time I played the New Vegas DLC Honest Hearts, I accidentally shot a character that is meant to be a companion, turned him and essentially all quest characters hostile and basically forced the game to direct me from the opening of the DLC to the final mission because I couldn’t do anything to side with anyone. I thought it was the shortest most bullshit DLC with not nearly enough to do for at least a few years before I played it again and realized how much I missed.

Dog/God?

JokeDeity,

No that’s Dead Money, this was Follows-Chalk.

Ohhhh lol I got the names confused.

I’ll have to try that in a playthrough one day to see how it goes.

JokeDeity,

But that is one of my favorite characters in the whole game.

GrammatonCleric, do games w Do you find the description Live Service Game off-putting?
@GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world avatar

I’m fine with it, if it’s fun enough. I’m no gaming activist/snob.

Boiglenoight,

I’m grateful for activists, particularly those with a focus on archiving gaming. That’s another area where I think supporting Live Service Games might be shortsighted on the part of the consumer. By accepting it as a practice, ownership is ceded toward the publisher or creator. We’re less owners and more renters when it comes to gaming property.

I remember when I bought Street Fighter 2 for the SNES and realized, I no longer have to go to the arcade to play this game. I no longer have to submit an endless amount of quarters to play what I can play endlessly at home for a one-time fee. It was an amazing feeling. And with LSG it’s like we’re coming back around.

Anticorp, do games w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

I guess this is tangentially related. RDR2 had the full ending for Author and then kept going. I didn’t care what happened beyond that so I never finished the epilogue.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS,

That’s not a soft lock and your clearly never played the first game lol.

@Mr_Buscemi@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Aw you missed out on some fun parts of the game. If you were just playing for Arthur’s story then I can understand why you’d stop there though. I’ll spoiler tag the stuff below but it’s why I think the epilogue is worth it if you wanted closure on something dealing with Arthur.

!Micah is a totally bitch. Epilogue dealt with John dealing with him and that shit was great !<

Won’t say more about it than that.

Anticorp,

I heard later that >!Micah finally gets his in the epilogue!< and meant to go back to finish it, but never did. I still may some day!

Ahhh yes, the American Dad problem. Haven’t found a solution yet.

sandriver, do gaming w What are some games that "spin" failure states?

Odd Giants is based on the old MMO Glitch, and in that, when your character succumbs to empty stamina, you go to the underworld to recover. It’s a truly special game.

ayaya, do piracy w Can I override Sonarr season numbers

You can manually import them to the correct episodes. You should be able to go off of episode names. Sonarr uses the TVDB and that is also what Plex/Emby/Jellyfin use normally so those are the numbers you probably want.

weird_nugget, do pcgaming w Is there a mouse that vibrates?
MonkCanatella, do piracy w Can I override Sonarr season numbers

Honestly just don’t use it for everything. Sometimes the Metadata isn’t good. That plus being highly opinionated makes some niche cases not suitable for sonarr

AlwaysNowNeverNotMe, do pcgaming w Is there a mouse that vibrates?
@AlwaysNowNeverNotMe@kbin.social avatar

I had a steelseries mouse with some vibration settings. But I don't think it took game data, more like a few programmable bumps you could set up to trigger x seconds after you hit a mouse button.

EccTM,

Same, SteelSeries Rival 700. It could be used by games in the same way as a controller, but the game had to implement support specifically for it, and developers aren’t going out of their way to support a single gimmick mouse.

I think it had a few options to use the vibration for kill tracking or health alerts in CounterStrike, but that’s all I can remember, and I still never used it.
