Metallinatus, do gaming w Diablo IV is the fastest selling Blizzard game of all-time

Love to see yet again that it doesn’t matter how horrible of a company you are, it literally doesn’t matter, nobody cares, consumerism wins.

This is the weirdly unlearnable realization that’s going to hit third party app reddit users in 6 or so weeks. Because Reddit will just truck along unchanged.

I haven’t played a Blizzard game or touched anything even close to related to Battle Net in years. I did my part. In 30 years Blizzard will still be there, and I’ll have had no impact, but that won’t make me regret a thing. It was just some video games that I’ll have missed out on. I’m already missing out on video games as is, every single person is, and time will only increase the amount. Blizzard isn’t and will never be worth being “the ones” at the top of that mindspace.

Isn't it just Path Of Exile with a different story?

0xc0ba17,

Diablo is a much more approachable game, more casual, more streamlined. It’s much less complicated than PoE

How bad are the microtransactions? I’m debating getting for my steam deck because people claim that it runs well on it.

Also that it’s online only does not seem nice for the steam deck experience.

@hyper @Dasnap MTX is currently limited to cosmetic only and future battle passes.

It's blizzard though, so expect that to change with time.

Won’t play anything from Blizzard. Support indie games and ethical publishers/developers!

Maybe this is just me being an old man screaming into the wind but Diablo, ironically, feels like its lost its soul.

actsukrit, do gaming w Postal Devs ask fans to pirate games instead of using key resellers, giving explicit permission to fans
@actsukrit@lemm.ee avatar

I swear everyone here is missing the point.

The issue is scammers buy keys with stolen or fraudulent credit card info, then they sell those keys via key resellers like G2A to make money.

Meanwhile the original sale gets disputed, and the sellers are hit with a chargeback, which means not only do the developers have to pay back the money they made, but they also LOSE money because of chargeback fees that credit card companies levy on them for the disputed transaction.

It doesn’t matter that they can void the key that was fraudulently purchased, they still lost money on that sale because of the chargeback fee. That’s why they’re saying “please at least pirate it”, because in that case, while they’re not making a sale, they’re at least not losing money on the transaction.

commissar_whiskers, do games w Full source code of Far Cry 1 just dropped on the Internet Archive

I loved Far Cry when it came out. I tried reinstalling it a few years later but the disk didn’t work anymore.

And I just looked and found it in my steam library. I know what the next game I’m going to install and not finish is.

nanoUFO,
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

I finished it a while back and it’s fun, I would say it has more soul than far cry 2 which felt incomplete. The final stage of the game gets kinda hard tho.

commissar_whiskers,

Come to think of it I’m not sure I actually finished it. I know I got past the (avoiding spoilers) regular type enemies, but not to the actual end.

Has anyone checked for funny dev comments yet? Or very obvious hacks which were meant to be “temporary”?

addie, do gaming w Limited Run Games announce "Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore" - A spiritual successor to the Zelda CD-i games
@addie@feddit.uk avatar

Well, has the fully Youtube Poop-compliant animations, I suppose. The actual ‘game’ part of the games, if they weren’t so absurdly sluggish to respond to inputs and take such a very long time to load each new screen, would have been indistinguishable from any other completely uninspired, middle of the road platformer of the early 90s. From the gameplay segments of that video, that looks like all they’re aspiring to here, as well.

audaxdreik, (edited )

I think that’s a respectable enough goal, though. Those games are clearly awful to play or actually experience in any way directly, but something about the weird and off-putting animations and voice acting has really resonated with people. I think with a team that has the skill and interest to put together something they’re actually invested in (and polish those platforming controls for the love of god) you could get something truly special.

Sure, it’s probably never going to achieve wide appeal, but I don’t think that’s the intent. This is the kind of stuff I want to see coming out of the indie scene, cult classics born of weird passions.

@drcouzelis@lemmy.zip avatar

That’s so fun!

By the way I recently played through both CD-i games, Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon, and I legit LOVE them. Once I understood the controls and the gameplay that the developers were going for it all just kind of clicked. If you have any interest in giving them a real try, I recommend downloading the remastered versions for PC and checking them out. :)

It is a bit unfortunate there won't be any attempts for multiplayer in that new game though (at least by the devs, they likely know the modding community will do it).

Tb0n3,

The amount of free “DLC” for the game puts it head and shoulders above the competition. Concerned Ape made a pledge and stuck to it.

I got excited thinking this had just stealth dropped, but it is just an announcement now. Still, looking forward to this.

PonyOfWar, do gaming w Revolutionary indie train sim "Derail Valley" rated "overwhelmingly positive" after huge update

Played this ages ago, when it was a small but well made VR-exclusive prototype with one train and a very small track through a basic landscape. Cool to see how it developed since then, definitely giving this another go at some point.
