Hey, if you feel it’s distracting from other content in c/Games, then I’m all for a new community. For now, though, this is the most appropriate place to share this kind of stuff.
I dunno about other people who post screenshots, but my intent is to start discussion about the games I’ve been playing. And I feel a community centered on discussion about games is the best place to do that.
I’ve been meaning to post my own screenshots for a long time now, but once I finally got around to compiling a bunch of good images, I noticed another member had just started their own daily posts mirroring yours.
So… at the risk of looking like a second copycat poster, I figured I’m gonna go ahead and post anyway. I’m not planning to tie myself to a rigorous daily schedule like you and the other guy, but I’m still going to number mine so I can keep track of how many I post. And to let others know there’s a series of these that they can track down if they like. I enjoy discussing the games I play, so I figured this is a good way to introduce the discussion to the gaming community.
If a new community opened up just for game screenshots, I’d definitely move my posting over there. Lemmy is still a relatively small community compared to Reddit, so if people are irritated with c/Games getting cluttered with daily screenshot posts, I could understand them wanting to isolate the content elsewhere.
Yeah. I definitely get that sentiment. Luckily it seems like people enjoy sharing screenshots. I’m on day 60-ish and there’s only two people I can think of that were outright unhappy with my posts. Even then one of them was just some guy saying “I can do better”.
I’d redirect my posts elsewhere though if there was another place to do it and the mods stepped in and said “Hey. Can you move these elsewhere? We don’t want them.”
Maybe a megathread? I’d be a bit sad to let my daily posts go but if the mods would rather these things get sorted or moved somewhere else I totally get that
I’m not OP, nig NV is the best storyline in my opinion. the bugs are off the charts bad, I cant get out of goodsprings now without it locking up, so I can’t play. tried mods, memory fix, etc. gave up. but by far the best. left for dead, go seek revenge or go gamble your life away elsewhere.
I was hoping for his thoughts on Dead Money specifically, but I agree New Vegas has a great storyline.
It’s strange you haven’t been able to get it to work though, there are lots of stability and performance mods out there by now that combine to make the game fairly stable. The Viva New Vegas guide is a good place to start if you need direction.
Not OP, but Dead Money story is at least semi interesting. I didn’t have a hard time with the DLC due to my character being overpowered in Fallout 3, and going through most of the main story before splitting off into the New Vegas DLCs.
For both of you, I recommend a playthrough of Tale of Two Wastelands as it incorporates Fallout 3 into New Vegas’ better engine, and allows you to carry over your character from either or to the next game. By this, I mean you can even start New Vegas first, and then head to the Capital Wasteland. It makes more sense to do Fallout 3 first though, with the whole birthing scene in the very beginning of the game. :)
I’m enjoying Dead Money so far. I’m not having much of a challenge with the Ghost people, I either slash them with a knife or shoot them and they explode. So I’m thinking I might be a little too over leveled for it. Despite that I’m having fun exploring the villa and despite knowing I can easily take a ghost person in a fight, it still spooks me every time I see one. I’m a sucker for themes in my stories too and I like the theming of the DLC too (letting go, greed, and all of that stuff). It’s fun seeing different things embody that. .
The themes are great and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. There are parts of the gameplay I don’t like as much (and a bit too much backtracking through samey environmens), but I think it’s really cool how bold they went with how it plays completely differently from the whole rest of the game.
Not my favorite New Vegas DLC but a fun one with memorable characters. I did this one first and the ghosts were a royal pain to deal with. Dog helps though.
Split personality character, listed as “Dog/God” in the wiki. Dog is the half that is subservient and dumb, God is the half that is cold and calculating. The character’s questline has you helping one or the other take over fully, or helping reconcile them into a single personality. Pretty interesting one!
Last time I played NV on console, I stole all the gold from the vault and fat walked all the way across the map to NCR Outpost, then when I realized I couldn’t realistically sell them there, I fat walked all the way up to the Strip to try to sell them to the Gun Runners.
I ended up stashing them all in the Lucky 38 anyway.
I think I’ll try the Stealth Boy method. I think I remember reading somewhere there was a exploit too get over the weight limit though so I may try that
