EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted, do gaming w No Man's Sky lead says Light No Fire will let you climb mountains that are "miles high, taller than Everest"

I’ve heard that before. Over-promising and under-delivering is what they said when they were making No Man’s Sky.

Lemme know when they actually have something to show for it. Then I’ll listen.

lorty, do gaming w New Naruto fighting game receives backlash for questionable redub, raising eyebrows over potential AI voiceover: "I can guarantee I did not say that line that way"
@lorty@lemmy.ml avatar

Why though? The trailer had good voicelines as did the previous game. Very strange move.

SkepticalButOpenMinded, do games w The Plucky Squire devs explain how challenging the wild 2D to 3D gameplay was to pull off: "Can we do this? Is this even possible?"

This is visually very cool and I like the gimmick.

Yeah I love the visuals. The 3D parts remind me quite a bit of Supraland.

Chef_Boyardee, do games w Starfield's lead quest designer leaves Bethesda to join other RPG veterans making a new open-world game

I’m honestly flabbergasted. I thought Seinfeld was done decades ago.

McJonalds, do games w Titanfall 3 hopefuls are getting desperate as Respawn teasers continue: "This is ether god-tier trolling or a confession"

i love titanfall

Twink, do games w After 27,000+ Steam reviews, Overwatch 2 is graded as 'Overwhelmingly Negative'

I didn’t realize they released it on Steam. They chose a terrible time. Remnant 2 is out, so is Baldurs Gate 3. Dead by Daylight has Alien expansion around the corner. They’re too late. But a good step. I hate battlenet.

Saledovil, do games w After 27,000+ Steam reviews, Overwatch 2 is graded as 'Overwhelmingly Negative'

They probably had it coming.

yesman, do games w Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya thinks Japanese devs should be proud of 'JRPG'

I prefer games with established characters over blank-slate character creator types. The worlds in Bethesda games are so generic bc every interaction has to account for whatever the player chooses to be.

Geralt, Wolf, Aloy, and Author Morgan inspire me to think about pathos and motivation. The dragonborn and tarnished are just coat-racks to hang armor on.

Spoilers Below for Sekero and Elden Ring

By the end of Elden Ring, I go and talk to Roderika and she’ll tells me she’s decided to burn alive in solidarity with Hewg, and I’m like wow, so sad, anyway… can I get some of that spirit tuning? Meanwhile, I’ve never platinumed Sekiro despite many playthroughs because I can’t inhabit a version of Wolf that betrays Kuro.

rothaine, do gaming w Hades player beats unmodded 64 Heat difficulty run - "arguably unachievable in thousands of hours"

Absolutely nuts!

SteposVenzny, do gaming w Steam survey suggests players ditching 1080p gaming monitors

I’ve got a 1080p monitor and a 4k TV in my house and have used my computer plugged into each. The TV is also better for a lot of non-resolution reasons so sometimes I’ll want to move it there for those factors but in terms of displaying the 4k visuals, I honestly don’t think it makes a difference for me at all. Rendering the image at 4k internally has all sorts of benefits for the graphics but displaying that internally 4k image on the 1080 monitor retains all those benefits so I don’t see any point in buying a higher-definition monitor.

But the thing is, I never even wanted 4k on the TV at all. I didn’t want it to be smart, either. I just wanted good-looking colors and it became impossible to find a TV that put the effort into what I cared about that didn’t come with the other features. So I suspect that when I do ever replace my monitor, it’s probably also going to strong-arm me into having a higher resolution that I don’t actually want. And I can’t help but assume this is a big portion of what’s leading to these survey results.
