@GamerKick Game is dead on arrival. There was rumors before the would be always online. Which at least most (not all!) people would have ignored, because this is an online focused game. But Denuvo? As if the masses would pirate an online focused game, that is online only anyway. I don't get this. Hopefully they will remove Denuvo after some time, like some other devs/publishers do.
Is piracy really such an issue for the PC Gaming industry? They must have some data we don't know. Why would they pay millions of Dollars otherwise?
I feel so bad for them, there are few things in software dev worse than having to devote significant time and effort to a project that is failed at a concept level
That's a shame as I was hoping to play Baldur's Gate 3 on my Series S sometime this year. I'll just wait for it to release on Xbox instead of getting it for PC. I've got other games to entertain myself until then.
I guess trying to make a current game work on the lower “next gen” model is harder than anticipated based on that article earlier this week where they said getting split screen working was a challenge
Things I often find lacking in videos games: good storytelling, adjustable subtitle/UI size, immersive world with adequate pattern of life (eg background characters, random environment animations, …).
Things I don’t miss: NFTs, microtransactions, constant in-game awards/points collections.
We’re at the stage of capitalist indoctrination where even the games we play have to generate a sellable artifact of some sort or another. The number of games I see on the app store where you pretend to buy and sell land using real money has kinda become ridiculous.
This article is a hot mess of spelling mistakes and poor grammar. I see where the writing was going but with all those errors it’s hard to take it seriously.
I’ve been replaying the Baldur’s Gate games lately and I still find them amazing.
I couldn’t afford them when they first came out since I was in high school so I’ve been buying all of them lately (including Planescape Torment). Next is Tyranny probably.
I’m looking for Pool of radiance Ruins of Myth Drannor but can’t seem to find it.
This is a bad omen for starfield imo. All the games i got with my AMD components last year (e.g. forspoken) were garbage. Maybe Bethesda is anticipating that they can’t keep up with the hype around the game which will be badly optimized or buggy at launch (like any other bethesda game) and try to save some profit.
But then again, most gamers have the worst impulse control and will even buy a steaming piece of shit if there’s a possibility to preorder it.
