There must be so much paid review manipulation out there but I don't know if it amounts to much. At the end of the day, if the game is good people will play it. I mean No Man's Sky came back from the entire world dumping on it from the stratosphere. Also, often overly negative reviews will actually make me more interested in a game, specially if all the negatives don't sound that bad "Horrible game! I didn't continuously die and how dare they allow the player to explore anywhere!".

Airowird, (edited )

Negative reviews usually are more descriptive about the game’s design than positive ones, because it’s a big enough part to stop someone from playing more. Positive reviews are 98% “This game gives me dopamine and/or money”

I mean, if it’s a technical mess, that’s one thing, but I think this looks great. More importantly, we really haven’t gotten many games like this in so, so long, and I’m hungry for it.

This game was one of the games that defined my childhood. I was so surprised when I found out it was getting a sequel, let alone that sequel actually being good

Since I didn’t enjoy the handsome collection I wouldn’t buy it at any price, but even for games I do enjoy I wait until they are on sale preferably with the DLCs included

  • gamermanh,

    Didn’t pre-order PS, 3, or any of the others, why would we for this one?

    Especially with Bl3 getting their eula updated to be horrible

    Robust_Mirror,

    Imagine preordering a game in 2025.

    Only reason I haven’t modded HDR for this game is because it’s DX9 and a pain to mod. (I already did GTAV - Enhanced and GTA Trilogy Remastered since it’s UE). If they make a new port for PC it’ll be able to complete the set.

    nagaram, do games w Doom: The Dark Ages' PS5 physical release reportedly has just 85MB on disc, and Xbox isn't much bigger
    @nagaram@startrek.website avatar

    Do they even make disks with enough space for a modern game? Secondly, would a spinning disk be fast enough for it?

    I feel like the only way for truly physical media in the AAA space to be a thing again is if people are willing to pay an extra $60+ for an external SSD that holds the game.

    catloaf,

    Blu-rays can hold up to 128GB (BDXL, quadruple-layer).

    Read speed could be an issue, but if you’re smart about preloading and compress what’s on disc, you have to read less data (you just have to decompress it in memory instead). If you want to get really fancy, there are compression algorithms that let you seek inside compressed data so that you don’t have to load the whole archive.

    nagaram,
    @nagaram@startrek.website avatar

    Well there’s all the problems then

    Asking a AAA studio to make their game sub 128 GB AND optimize it in anyway is a tall ask

    Railcar8095,

    They don’t even need to optimize, forced install is OK. If I’m going to have the complete game on the drive anyway, at least save me download times.

    Good game but it was way to buggy and performance was terrible any one confirm if it’s any better?

    tarsisurdi,

    It’s much better performance wise now, but you better have a good internet connection because at the first sign of a dropped package the whole thing breaks down…

    Random123,

    You must have played in its early versions. I started playing since November of last year and it had been smooth and polished and only improved from there.

    priapus,

    Its in alpha so I’d expect it to be buggy for a while. Performance for me is pretty much the same as it was a few months ago, but I never had any issues.

    Wooki,

    Performance is utterly trash atm until you win matches at which point your shifted to priority servers. It still suffers from incredible amount of cheaters tho
