ayaya, do piracy w (Solved) Does anyone know if there are still clean DVD ISO rips of Grand Theft Auto IV around?
@ayaya@lemdro.id avatar

Check rutracker, I see one that has 1.0.7.0 in particular.

phamanhvu01,

Good idea with rutracker, I forgot about that site actually! It’s been ages since I’ve seen actual GTA IV and EFLC ISO installations for real, and download is reasonably fast too. Thanks again!

ayaya,
@ayaya@lemdro.id avatar

I have found that most torrents on rutracker are pretty well seeded in general, even the old and obscure ones. It is always the place I go when I can’t find something somewhere else.

That’s because Russians see the value in the collective good: everything for everyone. The majority of the globe just hits and runs on torrents because we got ours, fuck everyone else.

Sounds like you got No Man’s Skied

banana_havoc,

It’s ironic because no man’s sky does ship combat and ship travel so much better than starfield

There is at least one other dragon that you can talk to who doesn’t have a bad ending. Just because one got a raw deal in the game doesn’t mean the rest did.

QualifiedKitten, do piracy w Some noob questions about seedboxes

I'm definitely not an expert, but I've been using Whatbox for many years without any issues. I'm based in the US and have it set up to autocharge the same card that I use for everything else. I do not use a VPN or anything else to access Whatbox.

I have received plenty of DMCA notices from Whatbox over the years, and they just require you to delete the offending content within 24 hours or your account will be locked until you do.

In fact, I vaguely recall them increasing my storage allowance a few years ago without raising my rate, so that was pretty cool.

Tadpole7085,

Cool to hear! Do you actually need to delete the content in order to comply, or simply stop seeding?

QualifiedKitten,

I've never actually tested that out. If it's content I want long term, I simply download it to my local storage before deleting from Whatbox.

What I've found works best for me when using public trackers for new content is to set up a max seeding ratio and whatever relevant *arrs. Doing it that way means that I've usually been able to download the content and stop seeding before the swarm is discovered/monitored by those sending the notices.

The comment section has become a meme already, but this post reminded me of the pitiful amount of games focused on dragons.

I wish there were more games akin to HttyD/Eragon where you play as a dragon knight, or games where you play as the dragon itself.

Call_Me_Maple,
@Call_Me_Maple@lemmy.world avatar

People don’t typically do dragons well in general tbh. Even when dragons are secondary to the plot, opting for wyverns the no-armed beasts and calling them dragons. It sort of hurts me inside.

But I agree I want more genuine dragons in my media.

(Side note, I haven’t read the OP as to not spoil myself so for all I know OP could be arguing the same thing so sorry for the redundant point if that’s the case.)

I have been hearing great things about it. And the fact that they were able to launch day 1 on both PS+ and Gamepass was probably a big win for them.

Hope they earned a good amount from those deals.

Me too. We need more of this!

It’s not as open and “huge scale” as people seem to think it is.
It’s kind of “fake open” if that makes sense.
You cannot get into your ship and fly 500m east to your mission.
If you do that, a new instance is loaded and your mission is not there.

Made me disappointed.

Joker,

Wait, what? How does that work? I haven’t seen much of the game except trailers.

Skyhighatrist, (edited )

There’s no flying in atmosphere at all. To do what the parent commenter says would require going back to orbit (loading screen) then choosing a spot on the planet to land (another loading screen). When you land like that on planet, it generates an instance for you that is procedurally generated, but won’t contain any of your mission markers. (I haven’t actually tried that part, but I’ve seen others talk about it.)

The game is basically areas, separated by loading screens. You get in your ship, that’s a loading screen, you fly to orbit, another loading screen. Then in orbit if you want to go to another planet, you set course and do another loading screen. Once there, you choose a spot and land for another loading screen. There is flying in space, but it’s limited to small instances with some other ships, and POIs. Your ship’s speed is very slow, and as far as I’ve been able to tell you cannot walk around your ship while it’s in flight (this may be a limitation of the controller controls, I saw a streamer stand up in flight, but I don’t know if that was a bug or not. There’s no binding to stand up when you are in flight on controller.) I just wasn’t holding B long enough, you can stand up when you are in space, you just have to hold the normal binding for longer than I expected.

All that being said, I’m still enjoying the game. But I went in with low expectations.

evranch,

What you describe sounds almost exactly like the Mass Effect 1 procedurally generated missions. But that game came out in 2007…

totallymojo,
@totallymojo@ttrpg.network avatar

Oh shit, you are right. This is how Starfield works. I forgot that Mass Effect had the same thing!

Skyhighatrist,

Mass Effect 1 has the Mako though. In Starfield, as far as I know there are no ground vehicles at all. So it’s just a lot of running.

Sidyctism,

I mean to be fair, maybe starfield is better off without ground vehicles if the alternative is the mako

SenorBolsa, (edited )
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

It Mako me angry. There’s enough there I think it would be nice to have a little rover that could go like 30 mph and haul your loot.

Legendsofanus,

Sounds like an absolute chore of a game

echodot,

I would have much rather play in a single star system where all of the worlds are carefully crafted than them having this kind of “infinite although not really” random terrain generation thing.

Even no Man’s Sky has more exploratory options.

Kra, do gaming w I watched 2 hours of starfield gameplay and an hour of review

I mean the game is probably mediocre to okay, but why are they selling it for SEVENTY EURO? I mean wtf. If they want 70€ it should be outstandingly good. I would maybe buy it for 40€, but this greed is a hard pass for me.

Oneser,

Is this not standard AAA title pricing?

Kra,

I’ve never seen a game without dlcs that expensive on steam

CrateDane,

60 is standard, but there are a handful of companies trying to make 70 the standard.

silentdanni,

Unfortunately, there’s no correlation between game quality and its price. The standard now is 70 euros.

d3Xt3r, do gaming w I watched 2 hours of starfield gameplay and an hour of review

I actually like exploring the universe, but I’ve been pretty disappointed from what I’ve seen so far. They tried to add space-sim elements to it, but did a half-assed job at it. To make things worse, the planets are mostly barren and not worth exploring either.

In saying that, it is a Bethesda gene, so I’m expecting some beefy mods that add more content and immersiveness to the game, and once that’s done, I may consider buying it when it goes on sale.

In the meantime, I’m really looking forward to finally playing Cyberpunk as it was meant to be, with the new Phantom Liberty DLC.
