If someone else is in the mood for Skyrim but has done everything in it, try out Tainted Grail - Fall of Avalon. It plays like a smaller Oblivion. It really scratched the itch for more Elder Scrolls for me.
Yup, though I want to add that SteamLink on android is a step further. I’ve exclusively been playing this way ever since.
You get the convenience of mobile with the power of your desktop, plus most phones have Oled screens these days so even better. Also why I don’t own a Steam Deck, as this is just the better option for portable gaming imo.
Any game. It’s a remote desktop app, basically. If it’s a steam game, it will come with a default phone touchscreen gamepad set up and usually there are also official and community layouts you can use. The layouts are… not as good as you might like, and I am frequently having issues with my custom ones disappearing or not loading. But it’s not the worst thing ever and I can play modded skyrim on my phone at work.
Non-steam games can be added to the steam library and you can manage their controller schemes the same way- sometimes they will even have community layouts available also. MMV with non-steam games. For example, Valorant won’t recognize my mouse click on my phone. And certain apps apparently force you into a “local input only” mode and might kinda break your setup until you play around with it a bit (don’t go into task manager lol).
But yes, you can also easily connect a bluetooth controller to your phone and any game that uses a controller works great.
A friend finally convinced me to try out Dark Souls. I'm not too far in, and I'm not having a bad time per se, but I am having a little trouble getting into it and caring about why I'm hacking and slashing everything. Maybe I just haven't got enough lore yet. Though I do like seeing the other players' messages and their "ghosts" running around, that's fun.
Does it work with a ds stylus or is it capacative touch only? The ds had many titles that required finer precision than you could reliably get from a finger or modern touch stylus. Pokemon ranger also would have torn my finger to shreds lol
They’re just (basically) two 4" phone screens, one above the other. So its only going to be modern capacitive stylus like is pictured.
That’s the ‘trade-off’ with these. You get modern and bright, upscale screens but you lose that original stylus input.
That said, I’m obsessed with the DSi consoles, and I’ve actually enjoyed using this stylus on it. Or, whatever misgivings I initially had disappeared after an hour or so, when I got used to it.
I wish I could get into it as so many says that it is.
The animations they’ve chosen feels like input lag for me and I just can’t get passed it. I expect my character to move forward when I press forward, not half a second afterwards. That together with the horrible keybinds and optimisations when using kbm made me leave ship shortly after reaching the second chapter.
If I could handle playing shooters with a controller it might’ve worked for me even with the slow ass character animations but with both those two negatives I couldn’t get into it at all.
I’ve finished BG3 4 times by myself and failed to make it past the first act in a group 5 or 6 times.
Love the game (obviously) but I found it PAINFUL to play in a group. Especially combat, having multiple people making decisions meant it was more waiting and reacting than planning. And planning is my favorite part!
The waiting does get painful lol. On the upside it makes for some fun moments when playing with friends. One of my friends was talking to Astarion, and i got bored and was curious if i could do anything to him while in a cutscene, so i just hurled a Chest at him and accidentally killed him. We ended up rolling back the save just in case but we all thought it was funny to see him cut off the conversation and attack me for that.
Damn, i’ll have to try that next time. I’ve been collecting everything i can and hoarding it so it’d be fun to collect all the chests or something. Do they persist between instances of the camp?
In GTA 5, get on a train, get a wanted level, try to keep the wanted level for an entire round-trip around the map, then try to escape the wanted level, all while staying on the train and surviving.
(it’s been a few years since I tried this and don’t remember if those were the exact rules, but they were something like this)
I play games to have fun, which is the reason I don’t play multiplayer games (unless local). I also have a very limited amount of time to play games after work.
I cheat with WeMod on openSUSE Tumbleweed for every game I can. I’ve just recently beaten Resident Evil 2+3 and am currently on 4 right now, and am having a blast getting to play these games!
The number one reason I am having a blast is BECAUSE of the cheats. Every game is different for me, so I only use the cheats that will minimize the amount of time I have to do silly shit like collect X amount of this material or whatever other stupid grindy stuff they come up with that doesn’t respect my time as a player. Using the RE games as an example, I don’t turn on every single cheat. I don’t want to worry about inventory management (not fun to me, personally), so I turn on No Reload. This means my weapons will never need to be reloaded, which means more space in the inventory for the story important items. Win/Win for me. What I don’t do, for these games in particular, is use the infinite/god mode cheats. I still want to get damaged and try to recover if it happens, so I leave that one off.
People get… really fuckin’ weird when you talk about how much fun you have using cheats in a video game. “You can’t be having that much fun, or else you wouldn’t cheat!”, “You shouldn’t cheat on video games because it takes the fun away!”, “WOW, YOU NEED TO GET GUD SCRUB. ONLY LITTLE BABIES CHEAT IN VIDEO GAMES!!!111!!”. And here I am just having fun and completing game after game after game to get through my monumental Steam library. :P
Cheating to get around parts that aren’t fun for you is just valuing your time. I’ll cheat any way that improves the fun of the game. Sometimes, that’s extra ammo or money or materials I don’t want to grind for.
That said, my favorite games are still Souls games and the only “cheats” I like there are ones that make the game harder.
Why are people downvoting this daily post? I like it, it’s fun to share with others and it gives life to a community and discussions. Thanks OP for keeping it up!
Some people find it to be repetitive and low effort, which, as much as I love doing these, I can understand their perspective. The last few days have been mostly Halo and Zomboid (and Shadow of Mordor one time) while I finish the move over to CachyOS. So I kind of understand where they’re coming from.
I still enjoy it though, and as long as other people are enjoying it, I’ll probably keep going (or until life requires too much time of me).
Not only playing a game every day, but also writing about it, isn’t low effort by any means. I’m lucky if I get to gaming once every two weeks, let alone write about it.
Mostly singleplayer, when I feel like I’ve completed the most that the game would offer. Sometimes save cheesing/rng manipulation if I can’t get a certain thing to go my way, but not a lot.
On multiplayer, I did used to play anarchy minecraft servers (where cheats level the playing ground for everyone), but nothing that breaks that balance. Multiplayer is only fun when everyone has similar tools to you.
