Hypnospace Outlaw!!! What a trip into the past this game is. Also has a great soundtrack.

Suck_on_my_Presence, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

Already mentioned.

  • Slime Rancher
  • Fields of Mistria
  • A Short Hike

Not yet mentioned (at least that I saw)

  • Potionomics
    • A game where you play Silvia, a potion crafter who has taken over her uncle’s shop on an island full of adventurers. You get to meet many kinds of people, both adventurers and not, and have a chance at romancing pretty much all of them (at once, if you select the polyamory mode). The art style is adorable (please physically release the cards, devs) and the voice acting is so well done.
  • Monster Prom
    • Strictly a slice of life / dating sim about trying to get a date for prom. The cast of characters are very cute, as is the art style. It’s also multiplayer if you’re into that.
  • Emily is Away
    • I believe this one is free. It’s a nostalgia blast for those of us who grew up with instant messaging like MSN or AIM. It’s been a while since I played, but I remember it being cute and very interesting.

Potionomics!

Fantastic story, voice acting and mechanics. It’s such an odd mix of deck building, crafting and VN romance. Yet it delivered on all fronts with a solid character writing that kept surprising me.

zipzoopaboop,

And what fantastic charming animations

If you don’t want something too serious, you can try

  1. Fling to the Finish
  2. Keywe.

Both are cute and kind of funny, doesn’t get too difficult as long as you don’t chase highscores.

Unrailed is less chaotic than overcooked, but can still get a little stressful as tasks pile up.

joshchandra,

Also PlateUp!

Oh yeah KeyWe is great fun! Some levels took me and my partner two tries but it’s nothing too punishing. Highly recommended

Amith, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

Throwing in a recommendation for Tiny Glade. Not so much a game as a sandbox where you make small cottages, towns, or castles. Lots of options in photo mode for showing off your creations.

slazer2au, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

Hello Kitty Adventure Island is the game my friends and I use when we want something that isn’t a shooter

Septian, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

Highly recommend Haven. Has some combat but it’s very minimal and it’s mostly slice of life focused on the romance of a pair of runaways.

Flames5123,

100%. Played this with my wife and we bought the vinyl afterwards. Such a chill exploration game, especially with a partner.

I started playing Islets after hearing anout it from your posts, and I really enjoy it! Thank you!

I’m so glad!!!

It’s SO bright and colorful and pretty, and it really is a lovely combination of genres. I think I got it from GOG, maybe it was redeemed on Epic, but I played it a few months ago and fell head over heels for it. Feels perfect on a handheld, too!

As someone who loves JRPGs as a genre but has generally grown out of their anime phase, Expedition 33 looks really interesting. I’ve been eyeing it since the announcement trailer and its recent success got me curious. A co-worker told me that it’s just 20-30 hours to beat, which is a huge plus for me (don’t have the patience to clear 100-200 hrs games anymore - looking at you, Persona 5).

I’ll probably get it this summer as soon as I manage to get some free time from work.

PerfectDark,
@PerfectDark@lemmy.world avatar

Funny you mention Persona 5!

Its the one game I’m sucked in to on my CFW Switch at the moment!

BossDj,

Everything but the combat looks amazing to me. The was a Steven universe mobile game that was this same kinda turn based with timed actions. Didn’t really like it. I feel like I’d rather have turn based or real fine. It seems kinda gimmicky. But who knows maybe I’d enjoy it in actual gameplay

I’m so glad you do!

I feel lucky in that I just love writing these, it makes me feel cozy and happy. So I’m so glad you’re enjoying them!!!

vortexal, do games w Do you think Square Enix should remake other Final Fantasy entries?
@vortexal@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yes but the problem is with Square Enix themselves. For some reason, they have the mindset that the only remake that would sell is FF7. This is the reason why they’ve been working not just two completely different remakes of the original game but also remakes of the sequels and prequels, along at least one new game that takes place in FF7’s universe. A remake of any game prior to FF11 would sell well but they exclusively chose to remake FF7.

They wouldn’t even have to go as far as they did the FF7 remake. They could easily remake one of the games in the style of something simpler like either Crisis Core or FF12 and it would probably sell very well, especially if it’s decently priced.

MellowYellow13, do games w Do you think Square Enix should remake other Final Fantasy entries?

Only if they dont change the game mechanics or turn based combat.

Coelacanth, do games w Do you think Square Enix should remake other Final Fantasy entries?
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

FF7 was the slam dunk choice because it is not only so iconic, but as the first 3D entry the original is also absolutely god-fucking butt ugly. I can see why FF8 would be logical in a sense, but I’m not sure it has the popularity to capitalise on. It has its charm but it’s hardly most people’s favourite Final Fantasy. It would be a cool choice though.

I don’t necessarily think any of the other entries need remakes as badly. I think FF6 is absolute peak as it is but it would probably be most likely in my opinion. It is also vastly popular and iconic so there is a lot of money to be made there. And I can’t deny that even I would be curious to see what it would be like if given the full remake treatment.

commander, do games w Cities Skylines 2, Kerbal Space 2, Planet Coaster 2, Frostpunk 2... What Went Wrong?

Cities skylines 2 was way more ambitious than the first game but they barely scaled up the size of the studio over the years and then pushed out a half baked product. I remember they tried to play the scrappy indie studio in defense of the games state at launch as if they hadn’t released the most popular city builder of the last like 15 years and oodles of DLC since along with niche hits in the City in Motion games

FooBarrington,

And they started pushing out paid DLCs before most of the issues were fixed. Pure greed.

Most of my “PS5” games are actually PS4 games with extra features/enhancements when played on the PS5.

I own only 1 game that was built for and is only available on a PS5: Demon’s Souls. Which, other than Bloodborne, was the primary reason I got the console in the first place.

It doesn’t just sit around gathering dust, like some others have stated. Since my PC is getting old and increasingly more unsupported by newer games, if I pirate a thing/play a demo on PC and it runs poorly (and I also like it enough to want it), I’m more likely to get it on the console if it’s not a multiplayer game.

Infernal_pizza,
@Infernal_pizza@lemm.ee avatar

And wasn’t that a remaster of a PS3 game?

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

It’s a whole ass remake, so more than a remaster, but yes.
